Finally!!! everyone always asks me how I kept from being broke down on the side of the road, and I tell them PD Diesel Power, thanks for the heads up and for always keeping us up to date.
2021 with problems at 6k. Aero turbine makes a good muffler. Warranty is useless when you’re stranded… and when the dealer gets the truck it could sit for months waiting for a part.
What part of the country are you from? Getting a 22 soon and would also like to delete but looks like people are having trouble finding people that do it.
My company got 8 2022 chevy 5500 lcf with the 5.2 diesel. 6 of them have pulled check engine lights with the emissions warning on it. Limp mode full 9 yards. All under 5k miles. There has been no change in how we treat the trucks from the previous ones and it has made our delivery service take a lot longer.
I never had any issues with def.. but it is good to know that there are issues with it. Mine is 2019 and already installed cp3. If you have cp4, use diesel additives as an insurance.
I bought a 2019 2500 cummins couple months ago. Just got out of shop for fuel pump recall . It was making noises. Now instrument panel is acting glitchy. But not all the time! Any thoughts?
Thanks for info. I been looking for a truck. I still have my old 7.3. But she needs some $$$$ love. I never had a dodge Cummins. I like but damn. These news diesels are so sensitive and expensive and to me. Not reliable compared to my old truck. I get it. Emissions. Etc. but damn. The replacement parts are $3k-$7k including labour. And that to me defeats the purpose of diesel. Looks like I gonna browse for a gasser Chevy 2500 6l. At least they are common and parts are cheaper I think
DEF pump, DEF heater, and particulate sensor so far on my 19. The designers of these systems need to be fired along with those who approved these poorly engineered systems for sale to the public. The emissions systems on these trucks should be warrantied for the life of the truck. It still won’t cover the down time, hotel bills and meal costs while you are stranded waiting for them to get parts while telling you all about the supply chain issues. What a pile of crap!
Great video! I started dealing a lot with campers 2 years ago and its time to upgrade trucks. I located 2019 loaded out with 53000 miles and wanted a good review on it. Ive watched a few of your videos now. TY! New Subscriber
The DEF is annoying, from working at the dealership I've learned to never use truck stop DEF. I've seen it cause so many issues and it is not covered under Warranty.
In some cases what I found to work on these trucks with Def is not to allow the Def fluid to under a half a tank and its true every chance you get turn the truck off from idling
I have a 2021 ram 6.7 that does not go into limp mode or reduced power but it has started going into regen every 50 miles takes a long time to finish it, it will throw a code some times and it just say regen frequency p 2459, any ideas on where the problem is?
Anyone here have the typewriter ticking yet on there 5th gen cummins? My 21 HO ticks only when warm, been using 5w40 with Hotshot Friction reducer since new and she still ticks when warmed up
seems like your entire channel is built around putting RAM trucks down. thats very suspect. Everyone who watches your videos should take them with a grain of salt. If you exist to put another thing down then shame on you. All of your videos are centered around negativity with RAM... what is up?
22’ 2500 6.7. They delivered it with 250 kilometres on it. Next day had to miss work to get the DEF pump replaced. 65000 kms later and its been in 5 times for DEF. Limp mode warning etc. No other mechanical issues. Thats my biggest PIA with this truck. Either than that, i love this truck!
Hey I have the cp3 conversion also on my 2020 Ram 5500, I have the industrial injection brand. Iv had it for over a year now and constantly have issues with the aluminum fuel lines leaking. They made a new kit which blocks off one of the fuel lines so now theres only one aluminum fuel line. It will last me for like 20,000-30,000 miles before it starts leaking again. I keep having to buy new lines. They told me I over tighten them but Iv tried to barely tighten it and it leaks again. Its a crappy design and Im tired of messing with it constantly while on the road. Was curious which brand you went with and if you have any issues with the lines leaking. I was thinking either to buy a new truck (2021 model) or get the S&S brand for the conversion kit. What would be your suggestion?
4th gen is a safe bet. 5th have more power but 19-20 got the pump issues and till now they have there ball joint issues. So take your pick. I still prefer brand new truck as a company rig.
@@pddieselpower My 2021 3500 HO has needed the upper ball joints since new. This truck has wondered all over the road since I bought it. Finally took it to an independent shop at 40,000 miles and they were like, "Yea you're upper ball joints are shot".
@@shauncollins2017 CARLI BALL JOINTS/STEERING STABILIZER/TRACK BAR...WILL SOLVE ALL OF THAT! ONE KIT. $1,750 and my tires last 70k now. I have 225k on that package and not a single tire wear issue. Love MY 4TH gen.
Here's the list of my 2019 3500. 159000 kl Egr 3 times Cadillac converter. Breaks system. Wiring. Cp4 fuel pump. Complete fuel system. All new Def system. Just to name a few. Haven't been able to drive it for the past year. Still on warranty got the extended warranty till 200000 and they won't fix it no more. Stay away from Ram Cummings.
I have 2020, nothing but problems. Frankly I Have had Gen 2,3,4,5. I think my 3ed Gen was the best. Recall after recall and trans problems. I just cant buy another. My ball joints have gone bad as well at 57k miles. Trans went out at 31k miles.
Thank you so much Paul for all you do! I have a 2021 ram 5500 and I found metal shavings in the rear water separator - i have have the CP3’s - and I really hope that’s not my CP3 going out…. Hopefully you respond Paul what’s your take on this is it possible that supposedly reliable CP3 in the 21 and up is not so reliable… and I’ve use the fuel additive from day one truck has 80,000 miles 2021 ram 5500….thx
I hope it's not the cp3 but never know. I haven't had a single cp3 fail on a 4th or 5th gen. Not mine or my customers. They seem to run forever. But keep a close eye on it and keep rolling. If it starts failing behind on desired pressure it'll throw a check engine light.
Thanks for the honest review. I was looking at one of these. I'm probably gonna stear clear of these trucks. I'll stick with my 99 f350 7.3 powerstroke. In my opinion the best diesel motor ever made next to the 5.9 cummins
Things I learn wait till the def lights almost on buy def in a jug with a high diesel turn over done let your truck sit and tow with it and never ever put the lid on the def jug after it’s open and store it in your truck to top up the def later . The epa is messing up everything
Good Lord, that’s all concerning. 😐 I wonder if the after treatment is getting overburdened by the factory tune that makes more power? on second thought that would not affect the problem occurring at idle? Thank you for the video.
I have the only freightliner in the companies fleet of 7 trucks that hasn’t had an emissions related issue. I give this truck hell Monday-Friday and only fill def when it’s gauge says empty. I’ve had no issues with pump def or jug. This trucks got a Detroit diesel, I argued like hell to keep my cummins when the trucks were being replaced, im pleasantly surprised at how well it’s holding up.
@@wreckitmech306 Only thing I’ve done to it so far is an S&B intake and a pedal monster since it’s still under warranty. Do your 35s fit without any mods or cutting to the stock wheel wells?
@@xSirBaconx I'm planning to do the whole Banks intake system w/o deleting. So I get it. The 35s fit very well. I will have some rubbing when I fully turn the wheel but it's only running on the suspension support arm(I cannot remember the name to save my life, the arm that goes from the frame to the axle to support it) But other than that, no need for trimming or cutting. I'm even running them on stock wheels! If you want, I can make a small video showing off whatever you want from them?
@@wreckitmech306 I have the same plans in regards to the intake, I’m also hoping they release the derringer soon as a stand in while I wait to delete it. I’d also appreciate a video on the wheels, I’m torn on size and style so I’d love to see how they look on your rig!
I have a 2018 Ram mega cab and it's all over the place driving it and it only has less than 7000 miles on it (yes 7k). At first, since I'm getting up there in years it might be me and that might be some of it. I drive my wife's car the other day and it and I was great.
Negative. Check out this video I did recently. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TzPllKEoUT4.html I bought it from a local dealer. I'm not 100 but I think it was avs brand
A deer ran into the side of my truck when I was going 10 MPH and my side airbags deployed, the deer was the size of a German shepherd considering action against FCA my opinion it’s a faulty sensor
All CP4s are having issues. Across the many forums I frequent (as I also have a 2014 VW jetta TDI), all bosch CP4 pumps in America are typically a failure component. Argument has been made between the masses that its because USA fuel quality is lower than that of EU, with a lower lubricity number (I think thats the right word) compared to EU, so there aren't as many problems in Euope where Bosch is originally homerooted. Thus, they haven't taken much interest in fixing the problem.
@@pddieselpower youve never had issue with 4th gen ball joints?? Lol..wowww. do your tires chop? Wear funny? Constant allignments? If you answer these questions with a yes? You my freind have just not known what the problems were caused by weak... WEAK suspension components. Carli ball joints/track bar/steering stabilizer. Thats the answer.
My 17 has intermittent exhaust brake efficiency. It won’t engage properly sometimes. Do they get dirty? If so could I remove and clean it? Thanks for your opinion. Great content.
Mine was the same before I second gen swapped my 15 but I just got a warranty extension letter in the mail with 15 year/260000km warranty on the actuators (X99) not sure if it’s only for 2015 or not though but might want to ask your dealer about it
The DPF does not have anything to do with DEF. Sometimes a regeneration will be needed to clear a SCR of excess reduction fluid. But if your having that many issues it’s driver caused.
Update, on my 20. Oil level high after 2k miles since the change. Worried about fuel dilution, it was about 2 quarts high. I did have to idle for 4 hrs or so hoping it was an issue with regen and not bad injectors. Gonna monitor it I’ll come back with an update. Job and hearing also replaced at 85k
let’s say a friend of mine wanted to have some parts fall off what tuning would you recommend for a heavy towing situation not looking for huge power gains just good tow performance?
If you can afford to buy one you can afford the downtime quote mr. T....fool..... we have idling laws and when you're not driving it you need to shut it off.... and here you are having a truck with a ton of problems standing around saying that you love it well you have a very expensive divorce coming up real soon
Another problem with the rams equipped with the cap less fuel filler is allowing dirt and shit inside the fuel tank and clogging up the fuel pick up strainer messing with fuel pressure and that's what usually takes out the injection pump. So install a cap, and remove tank and clean out the strainer.
I think he has 20+ Rams in his company and he continues to order them. They seem to be the most reliable out of the big three. Powerstroke and Duramax both have the CP4 and that alone is a reliability nightmare
Thank you??? I’ve watched 3 of his videos. All he does is complain. Damn glad I don’t have to deal with you daily. Your employees must be angels. Btw. Don’t own Ram Just seems your complaints are extremely rare with RAM 🤡
