this was a damned good battle.. Much better than i thought it would be and much closer too. I would have to say this is probably 1 of the top 3 battles of the season.
Not after that 5th quarter my band wins our arrangements are far superior than ASU plus y'all are bigger 96 members against 150 y'all can produce more than that if Simmons had y'all band y'all would see a different sound but y'all got better but y'all head director's holding y'all back
@@floydbraziel544 Texas southern did bring heat but don’t get me wrong , but sound , song selection and arrangement went str8 to asu especially after they played that Bruno mars song TEXAS was done for after that
I wonder what field show you looked at, old girl fell in the beginning but I guess we were suppose to not see that, later with the bullshit, the Motion came in and took care of business, they definitely understood the assignment and I'm not a fan of either. MOTION!!!!

Both bands produced stellar arrangements but most of everyone is going to ride with Brian Simmons just because it's him. Bama State's first 3 songs were strong in every aspect; the arrangement, the selection, AND the execution. TxSU's Spider-Man and You Can't Stop The Rain were both top tier arrangements but could have been executed FAR better
Alabama state 5 quarter arrangements were better to me txsu was blowin that’s about it ,, but asu cake , Bruno mars and can’t nobody was just unbeatable
Ocean needs to work on cut-offs. Playing music like the first joint is what used to MAKE the Ocean...THE OCEAN. I love it. Their sound has improved. Need trumpets bad. Bama state sounds great, needs more challenging arrangements. It's funny because normally between these two, those needs are flipped whenever rheyve seen each other. Lol
I scored this pretty even and honestly could have went either way, but Texas Southern 26 points, ASU 24 points. ASU had fuller sound, TxSU better arrangements and song selection. Neither sounded bad and plenty room for the Ocean to grow when they get better instrumentation to fit the director"s vision. More numbers will help ASU as well but I'm not sure if the quality of their sound will improve too much more. This is the best I've ever heard them in recent history.
We (Bama State) can definitely improve and will improve but just out of curiosity, you mentioned "better arrangements and song selection"... the Spider-Man theme and You Can't Stop The Rain both were dope but what stood out to you to help you feel as though they separated themselves?

Oh ASU has only GOTTEN better and will continue. They’ve always had their own unique sound and now they’re perfecting it. Won’t be long till they’re back at that top 3 in the SWAC.
This one is tough in my opinion. TxSu I can def hear what the arrangements were going for and I like it. State had alot of unison parts in the arrangements which made other areas sound weak and iffy. As far as sound goes State sounds much better. TxSu has bad releases all over the place especially in the bone section (that's on the bd and staff). TxSu are playing more difficult arrangements so the flaws stand out a whole lot more. State trumpets need to work harder especially anybody on 1st (lots of mistakes and dropouts). Song selection about even to me, no wow moments. I liked hearing that cake arrangement from years ago. Also I hear the improvement in TxSU trumpets and I like the direction they are headed. Slim W to State, very much a letdown this week compared to what I've been hearing from them this season.

Great arrangements and great song choices on both sides, but look, i would have had to have a few words with a couple horn players (trumpets) and their would have been a high quality butt chewing behind you can’t stop the rain. Too late in the season to be hearing wrong notes and people sticking out like sore thumbs. I also don’t need you to play in the upper register if you can’t consistently hit the doggone notes! Keep improving, but highly disappointed in those moments, they are inexcusable being professional musicians. After that much improved but there were some moments that made me put on my Ike Turner face.
I know this is a MMH page, and people want to declare them the clear winner, but it really wasn't that clear. I give them a 1 round edge over TxSU, and that's only because the Ocean still needs to clear some things. I feel they would have won more rounds, but a couple songs got away from them. Bama State could have sounded better on a few songs as well.
This is mmh Page so ofc asu fans will say they won, TXSU came in there and handled business. The W goes to the Ocean, more appealing arrangements, ASU first few songs was nice but Txsu had more wow factor and good song choices
There’s a thing called tradition. It has been, and will always be like that, and if you can’t see the box, you will indeed be able to see what’s going on through a drum major.

@@kamranshabazz6259 #1, ain't nobody looking at him when the director is right there. #2, if the difference between seeing the director and not seeing the director is 2-feet, that means the director needs a taller platform so that his mini me wouldn't be so useless.
I kinda cringed when cake was played in the 5th quarter, it’s a zero quarter type song these days or during the game but just not a 5th quarter song, they won this battle tho soo

There was nothing magnificent about this.... it was okay. They could have been a high-school band. Good thing they didn't go against Sonic Boom or Alcorn, cause they both would have been served.
I don’t think so! 😂 ASU went over to Jackson and served (as you stated) the Sonic Boom a big nice whopping “L” on their homecoming this year in the 5th quarter. If you haven’t already, check out those videos from ASU vs JSU 5th, whenever you get a chance to. ASU is very much improved this year! JSU really underestimated ASU and the BOOM paid for it. JSU definitely did NOT serve ASU in the 5th this year. Lol
You wouldn't be talking out the side of your neck would you? Did you attend JSU HOMECOMING. While your ther check out the SWV battle. (A little battle within the battle). Oh yea, can you get back with us when check that out. Would like to know your opinion.
