Apologies to FMU & VSU it was tough moving around the stadium so I missed VSU's stand song & Half of FMU's trying to get my cameras down from the upper levels 🤦🏾♂️
Congratulations to all bands present. Now. The undeniable truth. JSU is on another level. NCAT is getting back to their symphonic sound. VIRGINIA STATE was the most energetic and high spirited band. FMU is definitely gonna be a problem. Again good job to all bands.
Something feels off for A&T for me. Something is missing. I liked their field show, but JSU just sounds better here. And i dont mean volume, i mean they just sound better. Every part is heard and they kept their intonation while still giving that powerful edge they are known for. I could use a slghtly shorter hangover on trumpets, but they e been doing that for decades so its w/e.
Well if we're doing a direct comparison to JSU A&T is still down nearly 50 brass compared to JSU. About 20 more trombones, 20 more trumpets and 15 mellos and euphos in regards to the combined number for A&T.
@@ch6inre6ction11 read my comment again. I'm not talking about volume. That was never in the question, I just don't think Ayantee has as good tonal quality as JSU does in this clip. It feels like there's something that's missing from the sauce, and I can't really pinpoint what it is. I don't think it's the staffs fault, they still have mostly stellar arrangements and field shows. It could just be a talent/skill thing or apathy? Can't say for sure without being in the band. That being said I do hope they come with it next year.
@@ch6inre6ction11 The size of the band means absolutely nothing. You can have 50-60 trombones. I guarantee you 50-50 percent of them are skating. You can 45 mellos. 45-50 percent of them are skating. Every massive band thats not an all star band that has an over abundance of instruments will not play at its full potential nor capacity. Seen it happen too many times.
@@ch6inre6ction11 im referring to the comment above about NCAT having an X amount of players missing and that will make up for whatever deficiencies that are in question.
JSU comes from the SWAC. Iron sharpens Iron down there. NCAT arrangements sound real Sweet. JSU is Fire and Soul. Belt to Ass all year. We know who number 1 is and deep down, they know as well. Streets talking😂
@@Dmoney-rv9xyaccording to who, ESPN?? 😂 Mfs don’t know shit about any kind of marching bands, especially HBCU. You’re 🐌 for even typing your comment dawg
To be clear there are SWAC schools such as JSU , SU, TxSu and others who have musicality and ballads so y’all can miss me with the A&T got musicality and ballads . Only thing A&T got is flags
@@johnhinton1357the same Rose bowl that the BOOM was invited to ? Oh ok . NCAT is trash . Y’all wana hang on to the hype from drum line 😂 nobody puts them on their top 5 in all the band world
@@big_reece8632 but yet yall took a L. Y'all seem to forget y'all came to our second house. I just love all the excuses y'all come up with and all the mistakes y'all made while on that field but y'all knew who y'all was up against Field shows are T's bread and butter that is the only thing y'all was focused on what little happened in the stands cause y'all were out ur league on the field. Oh and the Golden Delights wanted me to tell y'all JSetts if y'all ever need any pointers on how put on a flawless dance feature look them up they in the book 🤣🤣🤣
@@ericford6383bruh what y’all did was basic . Y’all stood in one spot and played . Only thing was moving was the dancers and flag girls 😂😂😂 nobody respects y’all or care about y’all . Our boys basketball team just beat y’all
Now personally this a hard choice for me. In NC and went to college in Greensboro but JSU definitely was cleaner in the stands. But I now know I need a full battle between them two though
Both bands sound good. I know that this year A&T had a majority freshman band but it sounds like they are getting into the swing of things. A&T just needs a stronger presence in their upper brass. The songs tend to sound just a little muddy because the mid and lower brass are overpowering the high brass. The woodwinds can only do but so much in that regard. JSU has a great balance all around though. Completely unbiased by the way. Congrats to all of the bands that participated. Continue to get better and better at your craft. 2024 is looking to be a treat for everyone.
They were not going to do that because JSU would have slaughtered them. This was rigged. They picked to emphasize categories that they felt A&T was good at and made them more important.
@@rosemontee2137 The didn't say who the band directors were. However, I do agree with having the bands perform and be judged by what they do on the field. If you want people to just sit in the stands and play music, then wait until the all star band season in the summer.
@@j_y06 I dont know. BCU has lost a lot of 5th quarters because they haven't fully adjusted to how the SWAC gets down. We leave all that singing to the choirs.
“Undefeated” But Got Drowned Out By Not Only A Band In A SWAC But The ESPN BAND OF THE YEAR. Don’t Be Acting All Big And Bad Just Because Y’all Wee Better Than The Jukebox Last Season!
Can we acknowledge that the retired band directors in this group that keeps being asked to judge will always choose A&T over any SWAC band in existence?
They should have let NCAT and JSU have at it. Just when it was getting good they stopped it! JSU won the 1st round but NCAT hit back hard at the end. The crowd got excited and ESPN stopped it! Aww mannnn!
@@MAGORDON35 I never said NCAT won the 2nd. They did give JSU a good punch back in the 2nd round though. It def got JSUs attention and arose the crowd. I would call round 2 a tie. I am including the punch backs by both bands. Round 1 def to JSU. I would love to see what would have happened if they had let this play out. NCAT got energized. NCAT and Norfolk St are the only two east coast bands that can compete with the SWAC.
This is good sound quality for this to be recorded inside the Mercedes dome. I’m annoyed I missed another BOTB right here in my backyard. Both sound good!, the SWAC is just different for me. 🔥
@@ShutUpAndBump for one thing, they were not playing soft 😂, it’s just that sections would sometimes bury the others and I could barely some of the parts at times
NO NO!!! What are you listening to? JSU has balance, sound, musicality, arrangements along with being clean. The BOOM is the whole package which makes them elite. A&T is not on JSU's level and it's not even a close second. Yes, A&T is trying but at this point they are not representative of what an elite band is.
Furthermore this whole showcase was a rigged cause you put NCAT in it for their field shows but put JSu in there for their musicality , dominance , and etc but you solely judging off field shows ?!? Lol it don’t matter who they gave the win to real band heads know who the real winner is
@@johnhinton1357nah just speaking facts . You can tell the way the press conference went on Thursday . They know the best bands are in the SWAC . You got a glimpse of what the BOOM would’ve done to NCAT in the stands
A1 bro u are well into the future with this footage and audio yu def have set the standard but congrats to all the bands can’t wait till FMU shock the band world yet again this one big for the state of Florida
I wish A1 stuck to 1 cam and mic source here (for the competition sake). In genera,l I do like multiple cams and mics setups which must be expensive to have and run. Salute to those that record our hbcu bands
Thank you! This specific Video is 2 cam 1 Mic, only because at times people were stepping in front of the stationary camera. But for the competition They made it extremely hard for Credentialed Media to move throughout the stadium, some universities even had challenges getting their media teams in position because they didn't want anyone on the upper levels but the TV cameras. Since it's just me I had to get my equipment before it officially ended because I didn't want anyone walking off with it when the event ended. I use all matching equipment same camera, same mics, same audio recorder on each side & same settings so it's equal no matter what side they played to.
ESPN has started something. They have to make adjustments. Get some HBCU folks in those conferences rooms not just the judges. The judges need realignment as well because the polls through the year were head scratching 😳 They have to be able to add stands to the battle of at least two rounds and I also suggest adding a third band for each division. Start promoting early and make sure it’s not the weekend before Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
A&T is mediocre and basic high school. That's why they depend on those flags and theatrics because they have nothing else. When it comes to elite arrangements, sound, musicality & execution, they are like a fish out of water.
So after listening to this battle, I'm loving JSU. NCAT, is good, but in a stand battle, they are not ready for the big dogs in the SWAC. Southern and JSU and PV would eat them up.
There has to bias in this comment section….it’s not nearly as close as we’re pretending it is. NCAT’s intonation and articulation are well below the bar JSU has set since NCAT tried to increase intensity beyond their trained character and it showed. The band of the year is the one that showed up and set the tone by displaying the musical acumen that has been consistent all year long…not the one that showed up and tried to match who we all know is better….JSU with an obvious victory
lol how jsu lost look jsu shows been bland all year I’ll say that but last night they definitely focused on the field more as opposed to stands probably the best field show I’ve ever seen from jsu in a long time ncat did nothing spectacular on the field like their known for 😂😂😂 but it’s your opinion ncat cannot hang with jsu I’m not even a fan of jsu but they came ready with top tier performance and murder ncat in the stands
@@rostaboi5011 that was their best and it still wasn’t enough . A&T swept JSU on the field. Just like JSU swept A&T in the stands. One of these days yall going learn what really wins and adjudicated event. If you never seen a judges score sheet or been a judge then you may not get it. SMH .. horn angles, feet placement, sound, dynamics , drill and design, auxiliary(flags, dancers , majorettes ) , drum majors , drumline, cohesiveness , etc etc its many things . JSU had power and drum majors . But lacked in other areas. We can do this 10 x over and as long as JSU is being judged against a band that does it all like A&T they will lose every single time. It could have been JSU vs NSU, SU vs A&T , TXSU vs NSU the outcome would all be the same . All of them would lose to either A&T or NSU that’s just facts.
@@pippilongstocking3421 stop crying, it's obvious that your opinion is mute especially in the eyes of fine tuned ears and the judges. Take the L, come back better next time!!
NCAT surprised me .. we all knew they was going to take the field EASILY .. but the stands they actually put up a fight. Wasn’t expecting that. Was expecting JSU to just dog walk them lol wheww them boys hung in there . But if this would have lasted more then 4 rounds I still think A&T would have ran out of steam
@@manniefreh hey you like what you like. I like what I like. But A&T def took the field . Both bands sounded great. A&T just has technical elements JSU just doesn’t have . JSU is powerful, crisp, solid and sounded amazing. A&T has musicality, general effects, flags, showmanship, marching and maneuvering and a drum line that just sets them apart.
LETS DO A SWAC /MEAC / any other conference BOTB stand challenge . Representing the SWAC : JSU , SU, and TxSu against NCAT and whoever else y’all can get !!!! I got my whole life savings on the SWAC . We would destroy y’all . JSU alone could do it tbh
That's what I was expected but, A&Ts field show was lacking for me. If you're k own for field shows I would think you would drill more. The auxiliary did most of the moving. Other than the Cold Steel feature, it was lackluster.
@dripsipp JSU made some big mistakes on their feildshow.. one of the dancers fell down and the back left line on the box was off 5 yards . This is what cost them the win
It was unclear starting with the choosing of the bands for this event. When this event was first mentioned, it was made to seem as though the division 1 and division 2 bands would be chosen from HBCU conferences (of which NCAT no longer belongs to) and that's the understanding that many folks had, that is, until all the choices were announced.
A&T won this hands down. JSU yall had a great year up until this point. I know by Travis Scott sounded extremely better with A&T playing it. It wasn't too much it was well blended and more groovy.
That’s all Cap A&T was playing fluff notes and was skating but at least arraignments was nice but they Attacked the sons weak mainly A&T tubas was skating
I know A&T folk want to support the band. But honestly I almost didn't know it was I know by Travis Scott. Oh by the way they got a lot members skating. IJS. They are not bad but not on the level with Jsu.
This is why we (NCAT) will never and I mean never go to the SWAC. We about the best in everything we touch as for the SWAC they willing to just settle for what they only can get which is band. We are a athletic and band school like it should be and we wanna keep it that way its about that balance and the SWAC can nor will offer that. SWAC thanks but no f'ing thanks. We are too multidimensional just to settle for just that....periodt!!
@@jacolbyanderson7729🤣🤣🤣 the SWAC isn't a winning conference bro and let me make this clear to you We ain't never scared of 💩, we are very, very competitive that's why we moved to a stronger conference and we are always about being different, and stepping out the norm.
