Change is very hard, but the thing is Hyde did change on favor of Jackie and so is Jackie to Hyde. That's why you see them good as a couple. a slight change out of your comfort is alot for some people.

He got insecure because it's Kelso, Jackie's ex that she loved so much before.

I mean be honest unless you are insecure, extremely easily manipulated and just self hating you would break up with a girl/guy that cheated on you and with her ex. The ex that is your best friend that you warned never to get close enough to cross that line with. Hyde did exactly what all of us would've done looked for an outlet for our anger and sadness. And if Kelso didn't know I personally wouldve taken it to my grave and just done better by her. It was a mistake, he didn't do out of lust he did it because in his mind he was betrayed and it was essentially over. He watched his mother all his life do drugs and sleep with countless guys and leave him. Everyone left him, he was never good enough for anyone except his male friends and the foremans. I'm not excusing what he did, cuz I wouldve personally broken up with her on the spot and taken my time to move on, but he reacted within reason. And was man enough to tell her. Kelso never told Jackie, he tried to hide it every single time.

I understand why Hyde doesn’t really trust anybody, but there’s moments like this, that he has to learn to trust people close to him like his girlfriend, or else, he’ll just live in insecurity, his whole life.

Also it’s better to not cheat even if u have been cheated on. Cheating is a disgusting and immature thing and only looks bad on you. He should’ve ended it first.

Doesn't really matter. Even if he was cheated on and his reaction was to run out and bang some other girl he should have been dumped. If you are really into someone you don't run out and get with someone else the next day no matter what they do to you.

I feel like the difference here is though that he does feel bad and he admits it to her. He could’ve lied to her like kelso did but he didn’t- he was hurt and he loved her so he apologized but then all of her character growth is for nothing since she comes back to kelso anyway

@@spicebaybee yeah but we don't see how they are now except for them mumbling their greatest hits. Jackie and kelso became better people as the show went on. Though given they have been married 3 times I could be wrong lol

I see the points you're raising. However, I really don't think we can justify Hyde's cheating simply because Kelso did too. It happened to her again, so she wouldn't stand for it. At the end of the show, she rejects Kelso's proposal despite her dream of getting married. Her character grows substantially by that time, and Kelso's too due to his baby. Hyde's betrayal hurts perhaps more because Hyde was there to see how much Kelso hurt her, yet Hyde did it too. She thought she found the right one twice only to be betrayed-again. Hyde should've known better. Him admitting the betrayal means nothing-he betrayed her. Yes, it's the honest thing to do, but it's done. I didn't watch the sequel yet if you were referring to that in any way, but if she ended up with Kelso, it's because of the actors being together irl.

@@wrongnumber878 I think you make some good points- my point was less that what Hyde did wasn’t wrong because it was- it was more just that they had such a good relationship until that point (unlike Jackie and Kelso whose relationship always seemed flawed to me) and I wish the situation coud have been avoided entirely. Also, I didn’t like that she goes back to Kelso despite taking this stand here. Jackie goes through so much character growth and I wish that was reflected in her finding a loving and equal partner rather than settling for Kelso.

@@spicebaybee I think it's part of the problem here-their relationship was almost perfect. That's why it hurt so much she could never give him another chance. Kelso was always a mess so nothing could surprise her anymore. Again, she would've ended up with someone else if not for the actors's real life. Maybe with Fez or Hyde(if not for his legal issue). I'm not sure if I like her going back to Kelso either. I love them in real life, but if a partner chats once and gets away with it...

I understand and I agree. It bothers me to my core. But my therapist told me to think healthy. That means that I should realize it was more serious with Steven because she and Jackie worked in their relationship more. Jackie loved Hyde enough to let go some of that control she always had over Michael. Steven was healthy for her because he had a strong mind. Jacking was healthy for Hyde because she wanted the best for him when Hyde never learned how to love himself. I loved them so much as a couple. I still think they should’ve gotten back together. But the decision I think was for people out there who have been cheated on one too many times. It’s either choose themselves or lose themselves. I can understand that.

It's the broken trust, Jackie has every right to break up with Hyde. Even if he may never cheat again, Jackie made her choice to leave him.

If your first reflex after a fight is to jump in bed with someone else, the relationship is doomed. Who knows what he's gonna do next time he has doubts And more importantly, this is about self respect for Jackie

Tbf they kinda had to write Masterson out of the sequel cause of all the stuff going on in his personal life. I would have preferred Jackie to be single and successful rather than back with Kelso though, that would have been a better arc for her.

The original writers, that were writing for the first 7 seasons, intended for Jackie and Hyde to be endgame. But then they were let go or something like that and new writers and producer came in for Season 8 who hated Jackie and Hyde and decided to create the abomination that was Season 8.

They were a terrible nonsensical couple the writers through together becuase they were bored.

You're in the minority in that opinion. They made each other grow and had better chemistry than any other couple on the show. That's why their fanbase is arguably the largest. @@alphanerd7221

I still think they should have patched things up between her and Kelso. Her ending up with Fez is just random and weird, and Kelso really did love her…That would’ve been an amazing character arc. Good thing they both realized that in real life.

He isn't that bad of a friend. I mean, what was he supposed to do. Let them figure it out, and then have Jackie and Steven get mad at hi when they found out he knew. His hands were tied. And honestly, them breaking up was probably for the best

Michael was always honest about what was going on and Hyde is the one that started dating his friends ex who he knew his friend was still hung up on. Kelso is in the wrong plenty but not here.
