On these engines, change the oil filter first. Reason being is some dirty oil flows back into the pan, leaving a small amount of dirty oil. If you drain the pan first then some dirty oil will remain.
just a tip loosen the oil filter just enough to let the oil start to run out and let it set a minute then loosen it a turn or two more and let it drain, no oil down your arm or all over the place
Hate to tell u but it's not a full synthetic despite what it says. It's a group lll hydro cracked refined mineral oil.🛢 Royal purple amsoil or Redline are the real deal. And the fram filter has cardboard end caps.
Yes I know all about the high dollar oils but I can’t afford to use those in our daily drivers. If you look back to my video of me changing my lawn mower oil I actually use AMS Small Engine Oil. I know these are not the best products but they are much better than junk recycled oil a lot of places use or just even cheap off brand stuff. The XG filter is made much better than the normal orange box fram. I’m just telling ppl to at least buy decent stuff is all, not saying it’s the best. And when I say “nothing but the best around here” and “high quality full synthetic oil” I’m being sarcastic because I know it’s not the best lol. Just sarcasm, just being funny. Thanks for watching
There is actually no such thing as a "100% synthetic" oil. All oils come from the ground. Even Amsoil buys its base oil from a bulk oil dealer. They just refine it more and add their own additive package.
A QUALITY OIL is based on the VI ((Viscosity Index) of the Base Oil. The higher the number the better the oil has been refined. Group 3 Hydro-Crack and Group 4 and 5 PAOs have an index of 120 up too around 210. I did some research and found CASTROL EDGE has a VI of 172. The oil I buy from my local discount auto shop has a VI of 180!! I could not find any information on Pennzoil but suspect it is in the 170s Any Full Synthetic oil that meets the manufactuers specification is going to be QUALITY OIL!
My wife's car is identical to yours. I hate that it takes 5.7 quarts. She had a 2012 Ford Escape that took 6 quarts. It was so much easier to measure out the oil capacity.
Yes it is inconvenient. It is the first car that I’ve had that takes a weird amount of oil like that, my 2020 equinox takes 5 quarts. I’ve heard of some ppl just putting 5 1/2 or 6 quarts in the edge to avoid that but I don’t feel comfortable doing that I just do what it says to be safe 🤷🏼♂️ but yes I hate it also lol. Thanks for watching!
lol. Well it would probably be a pretty even race. They both have 2.0T engines ( I have the equinox with bigger engine ) so then in my eyes it comes down to weight and my equinox weights slightly less. The edge is little bigger and heavier, so I think my equinox might win buddy! 😂🤷🏼♂️
