I heard of Russian refugees however I never thought that they were homed in that Island. They were not accepted by other neighboring countries, however President Quirino accepted them and brought to that Island. If I'm not mistaken there were other areas that was given to the refugees to live not just in Tubabao. The island should be develop especially the road becuase if its history. Good job SEFTV! ❤️👍💚

Yes, Philippines welcomed refugees since 1923, by Pres Elpidio Quirino Russian refugees, 800 White russians to escape from Red Russians. There were 8000 of them, some went to Australia, U.S and here in Samar. 250 went to Mindanao as laborers in abaca plantation. We have a lot of refugees, those European Jewish that were affected by the Nazi German soldiers in World War 1. They were welcomed by Pres Quezon to stay in his land in Marikina, some stayed in Samar. An American Jewish tobacco magnate here in the Philippines helped the Jewish for their living and find jobs here in the Phils. There were 10k of them who applied for visa to come over to the Philippines, but the Japanese consulate who manually was signing the visas did not beat the deadline and not all 10k refugees were accepted to the Philippines. Those that were left out were persecuted. We also accepted Spanish refugees in 1940 during the Spanish Civil war, a lot of them. Another from Vietnam, from Myanmar, etc...etc
