@@Cragified Everything will be up to a certain percentage. Pressure also increases the boiling point. Pure water actually has better cooling properties, than water with antifreeze in it, hence locomotives do not use antifreeze, just pure water, but drain the cooling-system if parked in cold conditions.
@@rileymannion5301 well its not gonna start sparking...only thing that miiight happen is some current could flow through water on the top of the battery between the terminals. But its fresh water so its not very conductive at all and its only 12 volts, so its unlikely ample current would be flowing.

I had the same motor on my boat. Nice engine, easy to fix. In my boat colling system was using a wather directly from sea and it was a lot of corrosion in cooling system. I was changing it to separate cooling system with coolant and wet radiator. Seawather was just on exhaust muffers. Fantastic engine:)

That engine would make a perfect sand buggy/ ultra go kart slap a 2 seater Jeep Wrangler cab and weld a roll cage, slap on a 2011 ford ranger transmission 5 speed with a custom shifter, huge a$$ tires and for the cooling system, you can install a cooling fan that runs off the engine, a radiator with a huge radiator hose going to 2 water tanks pumping and leading back to the radiator and the fan cools it off. And install the gas tank to a 25 gallon gmc SUV gas tank with the same fuel pump setup as shown in the video, wire the ignition to a dash from a 1980’s truck. Have the battery under the seat and have a fuse box under the hood. For the exhaust you should put 2 massive pipes leading out the passenger door. Idk just a thought if the motor was to be used for a cool reason.
Ah the classic 383 ci SBC V8. That said Id wan't to modify that vortec distributor to make it reliable since its a boat. In stock form there is so much space between the rotor tip and terminals that it subjects the cap to too much voltage and they track and start misfiring after a while. Fix is to flip the distributor gear around backwards so the rotor is closer to the terminal when the coil fires, but this requires a reflash to the PCM to make it work. That said, they are great and last ages once modified.
@@jonesllew5201 what flipping the gear does is mechanically advance the timing at the distributor. This lowered the voltage the cap sees so it doesn’t pop. You can also rotate it physically but there might not be enough room. The PCM automatically locates the distributor on cranking so it can be located anywhere between the #1 and #2 cylinders. However the allowed position needs to be updated in the calibration to account for this. In my vehicle I actually put the dist. with 25 degrees of advance so I can run more than 40 degrees of timing during cruise. That said moving it only 15 degrees may work fine as it’s allowed to be +/- 30 degrees before a code is set. Use timing tape for accuracy, tho, and be careful on the first start. It should sinc right away but if the starter is straining then it might have not updated the distributor position yet. You can double check it after startup with a timing light. The timing should be the same, less any idle corrections which cause it to wander a bit on the timing tape. If it worked there should be no DTCs set.
Those are some of the last good marine engines out there. The MPI open loop(no oxygen sensor) is the most trouble free. When the catalyst/O2 systems became mandatory, it all went downhill. Trying to keep the later running is a nightmare.
You can speed density tune a closed loop and kill the o2 sensors aftermarket on just about any engine. I don't know of any places that emissions test boats so there's no technical reason why you couldn't do this. It was quite common to use the MEFI boxes for LS engines in vehicles where they didn't need OBD2 ports.

Yeah it sounds good but once you start paying for the fuel, oil, weight, spark plugs and all the other stuff (not mentioning that it is saltwater cooled which eats up the block from the inside) you wish you had an outboard... which i do now :)
1.25 gallons per hour, that's like what 5.7L per hour if UK gallons or 4.7L if US gallons. My car engine for comparison idles at the same 675rpm but consumes only 0.4L per hour.

Not really, we'll just see it in more defined circumstances, like races, drag strips, and competitions, making the sound of a burbly V8 a memory to tell your kids about down the line
