I can out shoot any of you guys with my eyes closed. Then I open my eyes because my dream has come to an end, and I wake up. Great shooting guys, love the videos. Keep up the great work.
With my Browning Xbolt hunter, 6.5 Creedmoor, using 140gr Federal factory ammo, I have hit the steel coyote silloutes at 1000 yds, yes it can be done, love your channel Eric, keep up the great info
Erik, I have been following your channel off and on , however when you did the “where’s the lands segment “ I was really hooked as having chambered, built, ( metal, wood, and trigger release) , and test fired thousands of rds. The factory ammo demo was the nail in the coffin. Excellent shooting with all human systems working… 🦅🙏
@@trikelife4960ye right, they are all balanced, blueprinted with the some of the best barrels, actions triggers etc, there's no way on this earth that they are straight out of the box rifles and then put a scope on and shooting factory ammo, impossible unless there was no wind at all, it can be done, in fact i have done it at 1,200 yards, with a 25 year old 5.56 mm and my score was 48/50 at 1,200 yards even i was shocked, ( custom loads) my score with the 308 and a f class rifle was 38/50 on the same day? cheers 🦘🦘👌✌👍
@7071t6 lol balanced? They're not engines haha. Just out of the box remington 700s with a few bolt ons. They won't hold a candle to a proper built F class rifle nor are they trying to. The whole point was to show what a few mods can do to an off the shelf rifle on a budget.
@@trikelife4960 yep i believe it, but i was going to get into f class ftr etc, after i worked out just 2nd hand 308 remington 700 and get the barrel and action checked, balanced ie: barrel seated right action /bolt machined and barrel etc etc Plus buying a scope and no hand loads just factory ammo, its was going to cost me over 2.5K and thats if i wanted to compete with the f calls boys, to which i was asked if i wanted to buy a f class ready rifle, tikka tx 308 with scope, ( 2.7K ) but again would need to learn how to do hand loads etc etc, to work out which powder projectiles etc etc, way to much for a hobby, so i just go out and shoot their rifles when i can. 🦘🦘👌👌✌✌👍👍
Erik doesn't know it but he's become my mentor in my journey to learn how to "keep 'em small". I'm an ardent follower and student of Cortina Precision.
Always love when some BO starts telling Eric what he needs to do lol with some crazy BS you guys are killing it awesome series and love learning this valuable stuff I'm betting handloads are really gonna impress for the group size sub 4.5 inch groups and Eric get behind those guns and see what you can do man
Considering you do the whole casual long range/PRS for fun... maybe you should consider a thunder beast supressor. This significantly increases the fun factor and makes shooting much more relaxing.
I’ve been on the fence about these factory rifles.. now I’m starting to see why they are popular.. Hand loads will be the seller… I’m hoping the hand loads will be assembled by commonly used gear..(Loading gear Needs More lol) Also,I’m loosing track of which rifle mods have an actual improvement..I’m hoping you show final data on the rifles and mods and cost, just out of curiosity
I'm hoping you will eventually do a load with Lapua Brass and compare it. Pretty vast improvements so far! As often as agressive as you "clean" I'm certain you have smoothed out any rouph spots in either bore as well......Lol
I've never seen that quadpod setup before where you can just shoot right under the LabRadar. What is the mounting hardware for that? Does the tripod (4 legs) come with that setup? Is that a custom part to mount the LabRadar on?
Really enjoy your videos. Great incorporation of tech, but what is going on with the FPS readings on the LabRadar? Long range shooting skills take time to master, and with good mentors and practice with feedback you can achieve great results much faster.
What I would like to see, is a build the same way but with a few different rifles. Tikka, Howa 1500, Bergera B14 and Rem 700. And see which rifle comes out on top.
Eric, I have a question for you. Have you tried the 6.8 western? And if so did you like it! I did some ballistics on the 165 grain Sierra and they were great at 1000!
@Eric What chrono do you think I should buy? Would prefer the old school ones you just shoot through, and all I really need is a velocity number. Don’t care about the price as long as it isn’t a pos lol
What are you using for a target camera? I purchased a Target Vision Longshot LR-3 ULTRAHD and have not had a chance to use it out shooting yet. But the information yours provides has more details than what mine seems to have. I have only been looking at the software downloaded on an android tablet I bought just for using with this unit.
I think this is the ShotMarker system. It is not a camera, it uses input from microphones at the 4 corners of the target board to figure the placement of the shots and the velocity.
Yall don't know the 6.5 needmore life hack? Take your yardage MOA and subtract 2, that's what you need to dial. This is rough math, not precision, 1000 yards =10ish-2=8mils dial, it will get you on target 90% of the time. Out to a thousand, it works pretty well.
@Erik Cortina I have a factory Remington 700 SPS tactical in the magpul hunter that I've shot 5/16" cold bore 5 shot groups with. It loves Hornady Black factory ammo. I'll bring it down and let yall marvel it, lol! I just live up in Gun Barrel City Texas.
I forget which is the Needsmore and the Needsless. Is the one with the pretty stock now the Needsmore or the Needsless? So did the Needsmore now shoot better than the Needsless? Needless to say I'm confused. Nice groups out of both. Great series.
Since it is a newer caliber, factory chamberings are usually on the shorter side to get better performance from factory ammo. As a secondary benefit, a full-length cam-over resize doesn't work the brass as much. The shoulder angle and the stiffness of your action can also help with this, but to a lesser degree than the amount of bump when you re-size.
Can’t wait to see the handloading results. But you’ve just proved, for a hunting rifle, that handloading is unnecessary. For a small one time investment you can hunt with a 6” 1000yrd rifle shooting factory ammo.
They are shooting match ammo, not hunting rounds...if memory serves. They'd need to shoot the Berger Hybrid Hunter bullets for your claim to be true.(so, Federal Premium ammo - haha)
Either proof the second guy is a better shot than Jason… or could thus debunk Eric’s theory of barrel cleaning and maybe that adding carbon to the barrel makes the rifle shoot better?
Jason's groups had higher SDs than Ethan's, which easily accounts for the additional vertical dispersion we saw from Jason. Guaranteed, that dispersion will drop significantly once we see the tests done with handloads.
Towards the end Eric mentioned that these 2 rifles were greater than 1.5 moa and 3.5 moa at 100 yards but both were sub moa at 1,000 yards. The extreme velocity spread was consistent at muzzle and 1,000 yards. To me this indicates that the bullet is still wobbling at 100 yards, has not become dynamically stable from the bullet rpm due to rifling twist. Y'all ought to shoot at 200 yards, 300 yards and 400 yards to see where the bullet has become stable ... aka gone to sleep. Good video.
1.5 and 3.5 MOA @ 100 was what the rifles were shooting straight off the shelf before modification. A gun is never going to be more accurate at a further distance due to bullet stability. There's no wobble at 100 yards and the accuracy cone always grows with distance.
So far i have not seen anyone adjust erics scope at any uploads at all, hum thats saying something, just because you have your own channel does not mean that you know it all, if your going to teach someone how to adjust the dope on the scope, then talk in a way that they understand especially if they are going to be shooting in f class FTR etc. Like saying 1 MOA to the right or left or high is saying make a adjustment of movement on the scope or hold over 1 size of the target hi low to the right or left etc, but it also depends on what the scopes reticle is showing etc. 👌👌✌✌🦘🦘👍👍
