Rob, I have the 6.5x 47 Lapua, 6.5 Creed, 6.5/06, and 6.5x55. The 6.5x47 Lapua is the darling child of them all!

I have always your video's and list to everything you say. I have been reloading for years. To group half inch or better never came to mind. Iusually consider 1and1/2 inch at 100 yards was okay. Until i discovered u tube. Then i started devolope loads, that does 1 inch or better. Now 1 inch or better at 300 yards is not out of the question for me, and thanks to all the pros outting out videos like these. So thank you

I also learned to reload from RU-vid. Watched reloading channels like JRB for years before I bought my press. RU-vid seems to be a great resource.

I didt a lot off research for my dream rifle, i shoot mostly ar15 in 223rem and 6.5 grendel. And i have ordered a kelby Prometheus action and a krieger 1-8 barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua in 26 inch with a Erik Cortina brake tuner. The chassis wil be probably a vision pro and the trigger from B&A where i live we have good access to Lapua brass and bullets and vita n135 n140 and N150. Cant wait, but it will take some time i have everything. Hope jou will test som Vita to.

When I shot benchrest matches my seating depth was to be in rifling a half of a groove. You can read about this on “The secrets of the Houston warehouse “. You should be proud of your work.

I'm aware a lot of benchrest guys load into the lands but personally have never tried it. I've always had satisfactory accuracy jumping bullets.

Nice rifle and shooting. I'd really like to see you take a bone stock Tikka T3x and see how that goes? I have 3 T3x Lites and they all shoot lights out 1/2 inch groups or better. 223, 22/250 & 30/06. The 30/06 shoots .2s to .3s all day long with Federal Power Shoks. Tikka's are a poor man's benchrest rifle in a hunting package and that make's em awesome.

Rob, I enjoy all the videos you post regardless of length. I find them interesting, informative and enjoyable. I just wish I could get my SD down as low as you. I've very meticulous, very precise, weigh all my charges and prep the brass identically to help but I rarely get lower than a 10.0 SD.
@RobsReloading
@RobsReloading Год назад
What do you use to measure velocity. Also powder selection seems to be the most important for sd es for me.
@SimpleLife1971
@SimpleLife1971 Год назад
@@RobsReloading Hi Rob, I use a Labradar to measure velocity. As long as it's aligned with the target and I use the JKL trigger it works beautifully. I test with a variety of powders and use Gordon's Reloading Tool in order to understand load density, pressure, and approximate velocity. I also keep the case volume (water) within .5 grains. Case necks are annealed and I use an expanding mandrel to set the neck tension to .001 per side. Powders do make a difference but I've also had very low SD's with poor groups with good velocities.

Shoot the lowest extreme spread, seat depth is accuracy not speed and node. So pick lowest es then jamb to 60 tho off and one of those will bug hole. There is a 1 grain node there it’s so forgiving.

My load is 41g of H4350, rem 7 1/2, 130g eld match, seated .003 off the lands, shoots pencil eraser size groups in Lapua brass, Rem 700, non trued, #5 contour X caliber 8" twist barrel, 27", with Gentry muzzle break. Freebore on reamer used in my barrel is .129 which is a tad shorter than some. 1/2" groups with the load above is a large group! CCI 450's blow the groups.

I believe Varget is the more appropriate choice for =140's H4350. Faster burning for lighter weights, slower burning for heavier weights.

Been trying to decide between 6BR, 6 GT, 6 ARC, and 6x47. I'm not a comp guy but love to shoot steel and paper. Almost pulled the trigger on the Savage Switchback in ARC until I seen some of the ejection issues. Keep up the good work.
@RobsReloading

Go for a nicer action rifle, get a cut rifle heavy barrel. Some say 6x47 is finicky. I have no personal experience with 6x47. The GT and ARC have treated me well so far.

@ForceRecon112
@ForceRecon112 Год назад
@@kennygates1756 6x47 is what i like. The reason some say it is finnicky is because reamer specs had the necks too tight and you'd have to neck turn your brass to get it to feed right. It's 95% as easy to tune as a dasher but a little more velocity than the 6 gt. Plus peterson makes brass for it now so no need to neck down 6.5x47 brass

And if I wanted to convert an older Savage 110 or Remington 700 to this would I use a standard short action or would I want to go with a standard action so I would have a longer distance for seating high b.c. bullets
