So grateful to see a certified technician demonstrating repairs on the 6.7 which I own one of. Ridiculously difficult to work on these. Do you see many clogged egr coolers? I drive maybe 22 miles to work each way.

@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod

Mr42960 pretty much. You can try running Fords Cetane booster to try inhibit as much clogging as possible.

I have used this every tank on my old 6.4 and this 6.7, mostly to hopefully protect the hpfp. I didn't know it would help reduce soot. Thanks.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod 7 лет назад
Mr42960 not really soot but the build up of the nasty gooey substance that is created when we burn diesel fuel. Anything that doesnt get burned fully or has left over remnants of that fuel if you wanna call it, gets glued to the egr systrm components. By adding that it helps make sure every bit of diesel is burned fully, no left overs...in my eyes.

My exhaust side wheel came off, went down the down through both turns then just under the passenger side floor board part of the wheel came off, put a hole in the pipe and a quarter size dent in the floor board

I just had the joy of replacing my 2012 turbo that had exactly the same issue - turbo shaft self immolation. Who at Ford/Garrett thought ceramic bearings were a good idea? It took me a bit longer than 2 hours to get mine out - I'm a first timer with these trucks.

Thanks so much for making these videos!! Really cool to see all the different jobs that are being done to the 6.7. Question, I have been using 15W-40 so far in mine, do you suppose the 15w causes stress on the components or do you suppose the extra weight may actually help protect? BTW I love seeing all the details you see, in other words, the long videos are fine with me! Thanks AROD

6.7PSFORD thanks!!!!!!! Id truly be running what is supposed to be in your truck, 10w 30 if you want to change viscosities the only other option you have is full syn 5w 40. this engine was designed and engineered specifically for use with 10w 30 or 5w 40 full syn, just those two man. hope these videos help you keep up on your truck, thanks for watching

Awesome video. I was wondering if you are going to do videos on gas engines as well. Can you explain about the carbon build up on the escape dit engines. I know you work on diesels, but what diesel engine do you like the best?
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod 7 лет назад
Brian Skinner yes I will do a video on gas engines when they become available a predominately do diesel but I do get gas jobs in as well so far I probably say the 6.0 n the 6.7 are my favorite. in my opinion I believe all the carbon buildup is due to it being direct injected. for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction and in this case it's that dry soooty carbon buildup u see on ur xhst tips

fomoco the 7.3 is an incredible engine. Not the most powerful, but enough to get the job done, stout, a venerable workhorse. The 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7 are glass cannons. Sad truth of it. We have become accustomed to their failures, and accept them. However, these engines are fragile, and owning one is like walking on egg shells. I have a 2009 E series 6.0. The other day I went to fire it up, and it had an extended crank and fire. I was like 🙄🥺🤭 ahh great what now? It has 87k miles. A work van I use to haul equipment and supplies for my shop. Turned out to be 3 failed gp's. It has been a bit chillier in Miami recently, and the 3 dead plugs caused the extended crank. No biggie! But in my mind I'm thinking an injector died, ficm, dummy plug, ICP, all of that stuff rushed through my head, while I loaded up the Ford program to retrieve the trouble codes. Even the 6.7, how many of those has ARod already changed under warranty? That turbo is a mess, and the 6.7's have had their fair share of bottom end failures. It just shouldn't be in the diesel world! Those type of failures were considered not acceptable back in the days. It is almost like diesels have regressed some in that manner.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod 5 лет назад
Cant MAKE people take care of them. All my failures have been due to lack of maint. Idiots i tell ya
@LynxStarAuto
@LynxStarAuto 5 лет назад
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod I hear you, but at the same time, these engines suffer pattern failures regardless of maintenance. Take my 6.0 for instance. I have a tiny leak from the bank 2 cylinder head lower cover. That means heads off, cab off. I have been putting it off because it is a tiny leak which I clean up weekly and hasn't made it to the floor or the exhaust, but sooner or later, I'm pulling the cab on that E series.
