This has been my local / main theme park growing up my entire life in the Bay Area and sadly I'll be moving away to the East Coast in a week. Ironically, I'll now be close to Carowinds which is owned by the same parent company Cedar Fair!
Me. I’m so sad, cga is my home park and always has been my home park and I can’t believe it’s gonna be gone for good and I can never go back 😭. Hopefully someone can save the park, like a Kentucky kingdom situation
It really sucks, I bought the new silver pass for this season so I can experience it as much as I can before it’s gone… it’s the closest park to home so it’ll be a sad day once it comes.
@@beachboysswiftie There’s a project in place to move all the rides to Fresno County near the I5 interstate I guess. Just an hour south of Stockton. They project managers are asking Cedar Fair and Prologis to move the rides and attractions there, but Cedar Fair is saying no so far. But the park where it sits now will not be saved.
The last element on Flight Deck is worth the price of admission alone. :D There's something about that pop over corkscrew right into the helix skimming the water that's just awesome (bonus if you take the leftmost seat to skim the water). Gold Striker is great too, it never lets up, and I'm looking forward to giving Railblazer a try sometime soon. Thanks for the video Robb, always love your exuberance and pure delight!
Well I've been on Sunday mountain me and Orlando Florida before now and it is insane because and it's in the dark and it's got his really matted drops so if you're looking for a ride that you want to go on I suggest you go on there thunder Mountain in Orlando Disney that will be mighty female shuttle three for me for that ride quite good
@@brucegibson1813 I went to the park last week and got to confirm its excellence 4 times over the course of the day. A delightful thrill every time. :)
So good to see the demon and grizzly still standing strong! Got over my fear of coasters on the demon at age 10. So proud of myself, it became my favorite ride. Still is. Thank you for doing these videos.
It’s sad that it is closing in less than 11 years, I’m very glad I went back in May and we are going again in under a year, thank you for posting this video because then the children that will be born after it’s permanent closing can see the rides that are and were there. Fair well Great America🙁
The last time I was at Great American was when it was still Top Gun and they still had the Vortex. It’s been soooooo long. I’m not much for roller coasters anymore, but I would love to ride my old favorites again!
I've always thought of Great America as my "home" park; it was the first amusement park I ever went to, and had the first roller coasters I ever rode (Tidal Wave, Demon, Willard's Whizzer). I haven't been since before Rail Blazer and Gold Striker were built. Heck, last time I was there, Patriot was the stand-up coaster and it was called Vortex. Okay, yeah, the last time I went to Great America, it was still owned by Paramount. Also, my condolences on your back (Grizzly) and your head (Demon). As much as I love the Arrow Loopers, they are some of the roughest rides out there anymore. I would love to see somebody come in and redo the track with more modern design techniques, but then it wouldn't be an Arrow anymore, would it? Thank you for sharing these with us!
On Paper, Flight Deck doesn't appear to be as good as a Batman Clone. However, I prefer Flight Deck due it's great first drop, and pacing. The ending over the lake is spectacular and the RED pops from everywhere in the park. Thank you for another amazing video.
That was awesome thank you for taking us back those memories of the demon formally turn-of-the-century and the vortex which is now that sit down roller coaster I remember visiting great America when it opened way back in 1976, when it was known as Marriotts great America and then Paramont great America, so sad to see it closing in 10 to 12 years looks like it’ll be going the way of the classic theme park in San Jose frontier Village it’s a shame, thank you for the video
I haven't been to what I still call Marriott's in 25 years or more. I have ridden the Demon, the Grizzly and Top Gun which is now Flight Deck. I missed riding Willard's Whizzer before the removed it. I would like to try Patriot and Gold Striker, but think Railblazer would be too much for me to handle.
I went yesterday, all the roller coasters are great it’s just that a lot of them are short and on the demon the operations are very long, but they are great rides!
0:12 yes, that is the 49ers’ football stadium Oh and btw this is my fav park, but only came to this vid for goldstricker I’m such a weasel to ride gold but I’ve ridden flight deck
Goldstriker and railblazer is definitely the roller coaster I really wanna try the most!! I’m going tomorrow with my cousins before the other one goes to Texas 🥲
They have a Sky Coaster there? That's so cool. There's one at my home amusement park/work site (Lagoon) and it's so freaking fun dude. We also have a Slingshot too but we call it Catapult
So Im afraid getting on coasters and I heard that it makes you feel better by watching pov coaster riding like these to make it easier and less scary to get on a coaster in real life. So my complaint is that how come when it comes in person, the coasters looks twice as high then in the videos? I hate bamboozling myself lmao.
I’ve been planning to go to great America with my cousins but it’s close on weekdays except Friday then I have to replant I’m excited to go to this park I’ve heard it’s nice and worth your time !!
I remember going to Great America twice as a kid. Still have memories of that place. I just wish they would tear down Grizzly and put up an RMC original like Zadra. There's plenty of space for it.
