The first eleven scenes were taken in the area of the bloodiest and most decisive battle yet fought by Australian troops in Vietnam to this date. The men shown clearing the area of captured Viet Cong weapons are of Delta Company, 6 Battalion RAR, who took the brunt of the action. Seventeen Australians were killed and twenty six wounded. During the mopping-up operations, a message was received from the Australian Prime Minister, Mr Harold Holt, which was read to the troops by the CSM. Australian wounded in the above action were visited at the 36th evacuation hospital at Vung Tau by the Deputy Mayor, Major Thieu and Vietnamese girls bearing gifts and accompanied by the Commander of Australian Logistic Support Group, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) D R Rouse. Identified personnel: CSM Jack Kirby, Private (Pte) Ron Carne of South Yarra, Pte Brian Hornung of Rockhampton, QLD, Pte Carey Johnson of Newcastle, NSW, Sergeant (Sgt) Jim Todd of Enoggera, Pte Colin Brown of Brisbane. Cameramen Sgt Cunneen and Sgt Ford.
