I don't really understand the drop your heels one, other than further _minimizing tension_ 🧐 but I guess I'll try it

That turning tip, steering with body, is very good for all conditions, especially for winter, when riding on ice/snow! Cheers!

Very helpful tips for a new-to-gravel, long-time MTB rider, thanks! It’s quite a transition in riding style. Especially downhill turning - SO different with these tiny curly bars!!😅

Thanks for the tips Juliet! I think my biggest issue is too tense when riding... probably because of my anxiety... lol. I'm going to try and focus on relaxing more... and just enjoying the ride. :)

That's a good tip about using your body to steer. One thing I do to quickly dodge around obstacles in my path, is I'll give the saddle a bit of hip check with the inside of my thigh. I get the bike to move more quickly than trying to turn the bars.

Brake before the corner and not during cornering is even more important when riding off-road. Being fairly new to gravel guilty of the last one for sure, some of that i hope will fade with confidence.

@ferv5470
@ferv5470 Год назад
And short turns use your hips. Lay the bike flat in the corner and stay up yourself. You keep control, and you have max effort of coarser tread of the tire. Keep pressure on the outside pedal while you keep it low. Keep flow, and use your rearbrake to adjust speed.
@JulietElliottsChannel
@JulietElliottsChannel Год назад
Good tips although I'd say avoid braking in turns entirely
@ferv5470
@ferv5470 Год назад
@@JulietElliottsChannel well that is partly true. Just use it to adjust speed is not agrassive as real breaking. When you have clearance enough you can even keep peddeling. You will notice you got a lot of control. It is a feeing thing. Don’t brake like a @&#% just dose and feel. And I hope I am not beeing a smart a$$ 🙌😂
@bartus9891
@bartus9891 Год назад
If you practice weight distribution you can stand and sprint on the pedals on most climbs.
@garyboyle695
@garyboyle695 Год назад
Good luck with that in steep loose conditions.
@bartus9891
@bartus9891 Год назад
@garyboyle695 Well, it appears my luck is holding. If it becomes to steep and you run out of gears you won't have enough power in your legs to control torque wenn seated

Motor cycles steer with their head Juliet, where you look the bike goes, eg looking at a pot hole , you will hit it , and balance also helps use only the back brake to slow down or you learn to fly! Great utube channel😎
