We all make them when painting miniatures....mistakes or 'oopsies' as we sometimes call them...or something worse ($%*!!!!) depending on the mistake. Whether it's too much Wash or Primer, a stray highlight or even a dodgy drybrush there are ways to fix them. In this video, we show you the six most common mistakes we have come across and often make ourselves and we show you how to both fix them and prevent them.
Enjoy😊

I asked my dad for painting advice and he said if you want a nice patterned finish use wallpaper. I've been doing this for years now and while my floral themed marines are rather lovely I still struggle to get the paper on the mini smoothly and it does tend to obscure fine details, so hopefully Duncan has some good tips.

I would never say that this process looks easy. But it must be said that Duncan is an absolute professional at tutorializing painting. I'd go so far as to say his style and presentation is the best on this site for making painting easy to understand and follow, and Duncan seems so natural at it. You could probably make some really cool stain effects by doing something similar to how you got that wash ring on the cape. Leave a big spot of redish brown wash/watery paint, wait for the edges to dry, then dab it off and you'd probably get a pretty realistic old blood stain
@HeadHunterSix
@HeadHunterSix 3 года назад
I appreciate how your primary approach is "Take your time and avoid mistakes if possible". I see too many painters who say "Don't worry if you make mistakes, we can go over them later". That's inevitable to some extent, but the indisputable fact is "The fewer mistakes you make, the less time you will have to spend fixing them." Also, that helps to reinforce the habit of brush control, which is fundamental to more advanced techniques.

@toferkrz946

Just loads pf practice. People have been doing this miniature painting thing for decades. And even ten or fifteen years ago, there was very little online material on the subject, you had to just bang your head against the wall and figure stuff out for yourself by trial and error. With the wealth of tutorials, videos, tips and what have you, people starting out now can very easily kickstart their painting and catch up, tricks and techniques that now seem like no-brainers and are given to you by every content creator in the first five minutes used to take months to figure out by yourself. my wife recently wanted to try out painting, gave her a miniature, explained how basic highlighting works and her very first dude turned out like my hundredth because she could instantly use what I had to learn across several years. This is really the best time to get into miniatures, the amount of support and instruction you have at your fingertips instantly is unprecedented in the history of the hobby.

Duncan, hi. I'm from Russia, so forgive me, if I write something wrong. Thank you so much for your content, you make it great and useful. You helped me to take my painting miniatures to next lvl , and now I can say, that I'm not so bad at this hobby-part. Keep doing your videos and good luck.
