Got the plans and am mostly finished with the build. The instructions were easy to follow. Finishing up drawer face frames now. Question- Do you apply Rubio to all of the hardwood surfaces including the interior of the dresser and the rear hardwood stretchers? Thanks John! Can't wait for this to go in the baby's room. 😊
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt 3 месяца назад
Id just do the bottom of the top panel, since that’s such a large panel you want both sides to be finished equally for expansion and contraction. The rest of the interior will be fine without though 👍🏽

I really like this. I want to try and make my daughter a dresser for her spare room. The drawer fronts and sides will match the design of her kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I've used dowels and biscuits before, but not on anything this big. Are using dowels and glue more durable to attach the sides to the base than using pocket screws? Thanks.

Thank you!! I do have a bed video and plans that I think could very easily be modified to match this if you want to check it out. It’ll actually make the build way easier. Probably just leave the legs square, not add the moldings, and then just personal preference if you want to add the grooves in the panels or just leave them square to match this better. Beautiful piece. I love white oak One tip to speeding up the edge banding is to apply it before cutting all the drawer parts. Yes you’ll waste a little bit of edge banding but you’ll save a ton time setting up 1/4 the amount of parts. You can also do this with the dado for the bottoms to speed things up a bit

Apply the edge banding before you cut the drawer parts to size on the miter saw. Basically, you edge band an 8’ long piece rather than a bunch of shorter ones. Saves tons of time.

I have before! Personally feel like the shorter pieces are easier to hold steady, and same amount of time regardless

Superb work m8 now i wanna build one myself. One tip you can use space balls if ur using solid wood panel inside a frame. The balls allow movement while still preventing it from racking side to side.
@JohnBuildsIt

Yea I do on like cabinet doors! These side panels won’t ever move and the drawers are held by the pulls so I saved my space balls haha

Thanks for the video, one of your best yet. Beautiful wood. Great design choices. Spot on craftsmanship. Very impressive. I'm a fan of dowels as well. I really like the Milescraft JointPro. I have given up on edge banding. I hate applying it and always chips off on me eventually. I have just resorted to 1/8th hardwood strips to cover plywood edges. I find it faster to make and apply, or at least it feels less tedious.
@JohnBuildsIt
