This is fantastic, thank you. I've recently just graduated from a film and television course in university and i'm currently looking for jobs. It's definitely been a struggle, but these tips are very helpful.
You might need to work on low budgets first or do an internship. High-end productions want people who already have experience (aka already know how to do the job). You can put low-budgets on your CV as experience even if this was only a short film shot on the weekend. More info here - www.amyclarkefilms.com/blog/my-first-job-in-film
Yes, I'm from Liverpool! Liverpool is the most filmed in city in the UK (after the capital), however, most of the crew on those major budget films are hired from elsewhere. Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh have more film work then we do, but its still the best city in the world by far ;)
it's not necessary to have a degree if you work int film. You can pick up the skills through workshops and hands-on practice. I wrote a blog post here that might help with the pros and cons - www.amyclarkefilms.com/blog/should-i-go-to-film-school
