6 Egyptian Street Foods to Try in Cairo!
Egypt (especially Cairo) is known for its street food. There are dozens of street foods to try when you travel to Egypt, but here are six of my favorites:
1. Ta'ameya (Egyptian falafel)
2. Batata (sweet potato)
3. Shawerma
4. Kebda (liver)
5. Fuul (stewed fava beans)
6. Koshary (Egypt's national dish!)

honestly i know it sounds gross, but try the liver. Usually it is gross but the way egyptians make it along with the flavour they put in it makes it so good. I hated it all my life until I turned 30 so its definitely an acquired taste thing, but man once you enjoy it, its something else.

I'm from usa. I know a couple from Egypt. They probably make these dishes. Several towns away is an Egyptian temple. It's possible they have these foods if they have fair.

You missed the Hawawshi is a popular Egyptian street food, particularly in Cairo and Alexandria (where they call it baladi). It is basically dough (or pita) stuffed with a mixture of ground beef that is seasoned with tantalizing warm spices, onions, garlic, hot peppers and fresh herbs.

I love hawawshii! It's one of my favorite street foods. Yes, I need to do a new video in order to include it. One of my former coworkers even named her cat Hawawshii because she loved it so much :)

Foul is cheap and economic breakfast in Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen and many other Arab countries, each has a slightly different way of preparations and added ingredients but all delicious and fulfilling. The shawarma you tried in this video is more likely a Syrian style but Egyptians they have their own, it usually served in a bun and has more vinegary taste with some fresh vegetables like coriander leaves, tomato, onions and so on.. it worth the try. i find it more tasty than Syrian style wrap.. but that's my personal taste. yeah , i hope you enjoyed your food there :)

I think Cairo and Alexandria are the best places for street food, and you can find it all over! 1. Taameya is great from Abdallah Bashandy in Mounira (close to downtown), and I also like the Felfela takeaway restaurant in the Talaat Harb area. 2. Batata is found everywhere on the street from vendors with carts 3. My favorite Shawerma is Abo Ammar el Soury in Mohandeseen, SemSema in Dokki, or Kazaz in downtown. 4. Fuul is all over the place 😍😍😍. I love the fuul from Zooba especially. 5. Kebda is best in Alexandria, especially at Kebda Awlad Alflah, or in Cairo at El Rafaey Butcher by Abdeen Palace. 6. Koshary is best from Abou Tareq in downtown Cairo or Koshary el Tahrir (a national chain). But these are just my recommendations-there are so many great places to try all of this amazing street food!

Ta'ameya is falafel. In cairo tgey us ta'ameya but other places in egypt it is called falafel. Fun fact falefel originated in egypt.

You're right--however, falafel is now most commonly associated with the variety made with chickpeas, so I wanted to make sure my viewers knew that Ta'amiya is made with fava beans (and in my opinion is so much better!)
