It’s worth noting that Joby has an eye to the future and is testing hydrogen powered aircraft as well. They purchased some time ago a company called H2fly and just recently completed a historic flight using liquid hydrogen. I’m holding shares in Lilium, Vertical Aerospace, and plan on buying some Archer as soon as it’s at an attractive price. By far the biggest holding in my portfolio is Joby.

Hybrid systems will be important to extend the range. Rolls Royce is working on a tiny turbine generator. Hydrogen is bogus. It is a fuel, and not carbon neutral in its manufacture. A clean-burning turbine to back up batteries plus a trade out pre-charged battery packs at landing sites. EHang 's product looks like it could chop you to bits in seconds.

Hydrogen has good use cases for long flights, such as Nikola using it for semis taking long durations on the road. Toyota is also all in on hydrogen and they’re one of the most reliable in the auto industry so I feel hydrogen stocks will also be worth looking into soon

@@glenliesegang233 Funny how Battery Powered Car Cult heads explode every time Hydrogen is mentioned. Use nuclear energy to make Hydrogen and it is carbon free. Pull your head out of Elon's backside and open a science book, it's called electrolysis of water. Nuclear subs are doing this right now to make oxygen for the crew to breathe. Also, do you think we are going to fly from San Francisco to Singapore in 17 1/2 hours non stop in something like an A350 on batteries? Not happening, but Hydrogen has the energy density to make this flight happen carbon free.

Joby is ahead of Archer. Joby has already shown that their Prototype is flying. Not so Archer! Or have you seen any video material from Archer where the Midnight does fly. I havn't see one single one. Only animations are available...... Joby has already the permission for piloted Aircraft Testing. And the Army has also ordered up to 9 aircraft. So I clearly think Joby is ahead of everyone else...

This is an awesome overview of all the players in the field. I actually like Ehang's model the most, small 2 passenger autonomous aircraft. They just put it on the market for about $350,000. I think the future is in autonomous air taxis that operate within a 100 miles. Just pull out your phone and summons an air taxi. Why drive, when you can fly everywhere cheaper. Use AI to design and control new super sophisticated air traffic control systems. My prediction is automated air taxis will replace most cars in 10 to 15 years.

Technology is evolving. True, but it is not without costs. Amount spent on R&D will be tried to recover later. If that becomes costly, then the whole thing becomes not feasible. Then, it is not a Technology. Traffic jams are solved by staggering office timings not by air taxi. Remote areas residents cannot afford air taxi fares. For a Uber fare of 1000, the air taxi fare must not exceed 1500. From the operator perspective, if the return is not attractive, the project may not take off as expected.

You cannot replicate real world testing. Just to give you an idea There's an accident about every 5 and 1/2 million flights with commercial airlines Do you really think these vehicles will be able to travel five and a half million times without an incident And who is this for Short flight mid-range flight long flight? Because there's better options all around. Feasibility equals adoption And this is not feasible

It makes me cringe listening to business experts talk about a topic they nothing about - in this case aeronautics. I have worked for one of the topic EVTOL companies and can tell you for certainty the technology is decades away. The problem is simply the weight of the batteries and inherent redundancy. Battery technology has been basically flat since its invention. The current battery systems are simply not good enough and there is NO technology on the horizon that looks like it will bridge the gap. On top if this when these EVTOLS fail, they fail catastrophically. When a plane or helicopter has an all engine out scenario they can still carry out a controlled landing - EVTOLS cannot. What amazes me is the amount of money from SPACs that know nothing about the engineering but are still willing to invest billions. Totally crazy.
@BusinessWithBrian
@BusinessWithBrian 9 месяцев назад
I have an aeronautics background, and you are welcome to look me up. Links are in the description. Please feel free to drop your LinkedIn profile so we can see your expertise. Have you seen an evtol fail catastrophically? I ask because Archer and Joby are designed to glide. From everything I've been able to observe, the batteries can meet the need for short form flights that are launching in the next 2 years. Even Xpeng is going live soon. These craft aren't planning on 500 miles. I want to provide as much facts as I can.
@alanj1338
@alanj1338 5 месяцев назад
Yes, totally crazy. With current battery technology and allowing for 25 to 30% efficiency for a modern gas turbine engine batteries are about 12 times heavier than JetA1 for the equivalent amount of energy needed to propel an aircraft. EVTOL's are decades away with the current progress in battery technology. No one is talking about the certification time lines either. Once battery tech is getting to be only 2 to 3 times heavier than JetA1 then it's time to be think about looking at EVTOL's. Until then put your money into developing battery technology. P.S. I know this isn't a EVTOL but it is relevant. I believe Tecnam have stopped development on their electric aircraft. One reason being battery life. The high charge and discharge rates required reduce battery life to uneconomic levels.

For piloted versions it's the same rules and laws that helicopters abide by. If, and when, they moved to full automation then it will definitely require a lot more regulation.
@Travlinmo
@Travlinmo Месяц назад
Waiting on batteries to improve is a lot like waiting for solar to improve, foolish. At 150 mile range, these first customer potential products are good enough and will simply get better. And the batteries can be replaced after manufacturing if the magic happens. The impediment is first regulation and then, for profitability, customer acceptance of flying without pilots. By 2030, this could be growing rapidly.

The only way the government will ever allow flying cars is if the flight controls are all completely in government hands. In other words in get in and give the address to the computer and Air traffic control plots your course among existing air traffic and it will merge you into the traffic to your destination. They will never allow the general public access to fully autonomous flying cars otherwise. Any thing flying that is not under Air traffic controls direction will automatically be hunted down by police and the user tagged with a huge fine and probably the confiscation of the vehicle. They of course will justify this as a public safety measure. In other words they will not sell such cars until they upgrade existing Air traffic control systems to handle personal flying cars and such a system is not even being researched in the United States by any government agency that I am aware of. If you know of research and development into a control system that can handle millions of individual commuters in real time I would love to hear about it.

We can't even get Level4 autonomous driving in 5yrs... there is ZERO chance they will have flying cars within 3-5 years. It will take 20 years+ for federal, state, and local government regulations established. You ruined your credibility with this pie in the sky video.

@BusinessWithBrian 11 месяцев назад
I disagree. As I spoke to each company, I stated for each one where they would have a dedicated pilot. That's no different than a helicopter. In time they're looking to have it so that it is automated. But I didn't give any detail on when that would occur.

@@BusinessWithBrian What did you expect them to tell you... that they'll continue to burn cash for the next 15-20 years before they'll sell their first mass production unit? Of course they are going to give you an overly optimistic timeframe for adoption. Automakers have been trying to crack self driving cars for 10 years, and we are prob 10 years away from L5... and that's 2D. You add flight, 3D, that makes it exponentially more complicated. There is minimal government analysis, testing or regulation for any flying cars today... and is it reasonable to think they can fast track in five years?

@@BusinessWithBrian No I bought it at about 7.5 a couple of years ago. I should have sold it when it hit 10.25 then bought it back again since it has been sitting at 5 for over a year now as I stated. Joby is way ahead on an actual integrated business plan and has received FAA certification for the correct (CFR 14 Part 135) to carry passengers which puts it way ahead of any of the others. I just do not get why the stock does not move. Something is up behind the scenes and it is very disappointing. There is a real issue as far as the business model issue with the market segment. It is going to be very, very hard to "sell" people on the price of using the service against the potential profitability in the same way that NY Helicopters found when they tried to make a helicopter service work back in the late '60s.

@@superbmediacontentcreator To ease your concerns. JOBY has few institutional investors in it. It's mostly retail. Big players are waiting for JOBY to receive the greenlight for commercial operations. Once that happens? Then we'll likely see a big move. Then a monster move once they begin turningva profit.

@@bronxishomenomatterwhereig3149 I hear you and know what you're saying but more like the FAA to figure out the various requirements for pilot licensing and so forth. Joby already received their part 135 for passengers more than a year ago. There is a good case to be made for the inability of the sector to ever make a profit. I think that the first tier needs to be corporate block buys as a perk and benefit at some level or another. You can't book for $200 a seat and the return flight is a deadhead. The margins are very tight. a helicopter is about $400 an hour for 4-5 passengers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wMz7_JIzXys.html

@@superbmediacontentcreator Yeah but the aircrafts themselves have not completed the 5 stages of testing to gain certification for commercial use. JOBY has become the first to begin stage 4 testing. Which I believe by years end they'll be done and on schedule to launch in 2025. I've been DCA in for a couple of months now since late 2023. I'm confident in JOBYs leadership and engineers. The UAE signed a deal to have JOBY operating in their cities. Partnership with Delta etc. I get your concerns though. Nothing's guaranteed. But scared money don't make money. Based on what I've researched and learned? I'm willing to be on JOBY and continue to DCA in .

@phdonme1 0 seconds ago So I need to travel a hundred miles from my house and I want to book a trip on one of these. How does this work? My HOA is probably going to ask questions too after my neighbor's call and say a helicopter is landing on the street in front of their house. Because they definitely wouldn't allow me to own one of these things here How is that going to be presented to them. it would agro my neighbors for sure. Explain how this is better than an Uber Don't forget also allegedly Tesla's going to have robo taxis all over the place. And these companies are already 3 to 5 years behind. How are they going to capture market share and overcome the initial cost of production? Because just a single instance of something going wrong would cause that entire sector to lose support.
@BusinessWithBrian
@BusinessWithBrian 2 месяца назад
Please take a moment and think of existing infrastructure. Is this how you would operate a helicopter? Would you keep it at your house? Unless you live in the country, it would be at an airport. There will be a large market of people that would choose a 10 minute flight from JFK to downtown Manhattan versus an hour's drive. Same is true for San Francisco to Napa. I'm not here to convince anyone of anything. But 14 years ago, I was having this same conversation with friends about Tesla. Food for thought.

@@BusinessWithBrian That already exists and it's a helicopter The company is called fly blade And it's actually a 5-minute trip for 195.00 So you're telling me this form of transportation is slower than fly blade. And they're going to have to compete with 195.00 price point. From a company who is already logged tens of thousands of hours. Interesting business strategy They're also going to have to build their own helipad because that company doesn't share any helipads with anybody. So tell me how this is going to be profitable. Lot of infrastructure to build out Having to match a very cheap price point It will travel there in twice the time that the competition does.
