*Exclusive Videos, Tabs & Chord Sheets* Maybe my idealism _and_ socialistic tendencies are showing -- or, possibly, it's simply me being only one step away from being a homeless person -- but isn't one use of patrons so that they (the well-to-do folk) help cover the cost for everyone?
Not one of today‘s guitar heroes didn‘t start off with playing „bad solos“ at first. There will be a turning point soon enough. Depends on how much you want it. 😁
Absolutely clear, concise and well explained, with pertinent examples. Not too long, not show-off, actually quality content and explanations, right on point. THANK YOU!
I'll be honest, at first I thought this would be just another guitar video with vague or unoriginal tips, but I was really impressed! While it's not necessarily anything groundbreaking in terms of soloing, this vid does a great job of breaking down the tips and providing really good concrete examples. Within seconds I had picked up my own guitar and was playing along.
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. And he has such passion and enthusiasm for teaching. It’s really beautiful and inspiring. And yet, at the same time, he’s such a great guitarist that part of me feels like ‘dang, I wish that he would tour and record records, also.’ (And maybe he does). He’s a great teacher, and a great player. Truer than true.
@@aeondream Great advice. Chris Cain is a superb blues player. But I think that Cain's version of BB King is slightly more "Cain" than it is "BB." In contrast, this video's BB impression is both less original (the player puts less of himself into it) and more accurate as a replica of BB's tone, rhythm, dynamics, and style.
A solo that's gonna touch you is a solo which sounds like human conversation. Do this in the frequencies of the human voice and phrase it like talking. Speed doesn't help, Just try to tell a story by playing your guitar.
Must be hard being this guy and not being able to do demonstrate what a bad solo is. All of his solos sounded fairly good no matter how bad he wanted them to sound.
You are one of the best guitar teachers on RU-vid. That is because you can understand, notice, differ, isolate, play and teach every little detail. True perfectionist you are sir, what a great opportunity to have you on RU-vid. And over that, you have specific pleasant energy as a person
Great video. I really enjoy your teaching style. Not only are you a great teacher, you're a great player. These two qualities aren't often found in the same person/guitarist.
@@GuitarPilgrim @brayden Same thing I thought. I'm Dutch so I hear it right away, but it's also the way you present yourself, the way you pause your sentences, the emphasis you place on certain words. It's very identical to Paul Davids. But I enjoy your lessons they're very informative!
Great Players who use these principles 1. Start Simple: B.B. King 2. Phrasing: Billy Gibbons and David Gilmour 3. Dynamics: Buddy Guy and SRV 4. Vibrato: Gary Moore and Angus Young 5. Repetition: Mark Knopfler 6. Mix It Up: Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt
Great techniques that no one can learn overnight. But you told in nutshell to follow otherwise difficult to acquire without long term practice. Thanks a Lot...!
I do not know your real name "Guitar Pilgrim" but from my lips to God's ears, your one hell of a player and a teacher and He should add more unto your skill. I just gave you a standing ovation in my room
It comes with years of playing and some people just have that "soul" in their finger tips, it doesnt matter if they only hit a single note with no nuance, the note comes out inspired.
Dude, this was so insightful. I’ve been struggling trying to make the guitar sing the way I think it should. So it’s just nice to hear it explained, very well in fact, from a different perspective. Thank you!
Man I love to watch your videos. What a great sence of humor and careful choice of expressions, encouraging voice and illustrative examples. You are natureborn teacher. If you taught math at my school wouldn't be so dumb )
I'm a good rhythm player, chord player, not great at solos. These 6 super simple tips changed the way I practice 100%! So simple but so effective! Thank u so much! Bbking was great example to really understand.
@@skidge4025 don't compare yourself to the greats so much. They've had years of experience to perfect their craft, it didn't happen within a year or two. Play what you feel is right and keep practicing and learning
I've been playing guitar for 35 years and you are an excellent teacher! The difference between a good and a great guitarist are many subtle nuances. These are great tips for aspiring guitarists. Subscribed
I actually like it, but it's true that it wouldn't feat the content like that. it doesn't sound right at all to start the solo that way, (just my opinion), but it's pretty cool anyways
Wise words indeed.....where have you been all my guitar playing life Lol Extremely useful, to the point and actually helpful to all guitar students, a great vid.
Thank you very much Mr Guitar Pilgrim for the Fantastic Lesson! Very articulate and I appreciate how you break down the concepts one at a time making it very easy to understand the techniques. Excellent work. I will look for more of you!
Ive been watching you for some time and not often do I say this about another guiterest but you my friend. is. a real treat your feel is so sweet. I think your a great player thank you Billy Gleason
I agree with your first point, unless you are SRV or JH. I've only watched 2 of your videos but I already really like your presentation, explination and style. And yes, silence is golden.
There's a Russian kid named Max who can absolutely jam..with a complete poker face. Looks like he's having a staring contest while jamming srv or acdc!
This is the best guitar guy I've seen. Informative, gives great examples, and has great tips. We are always learning. After 25 years I'm always amazed at how much you can still learn. Thanks Guitar Pilgrim! You rock.
This tutorial was one of the better ones I've seen in a long time. Even tho I've known and used all these tips for ten years, I found this video cool and interesting B)
Another great video. I've had multiple teachers over the years - I think I'm learning more from you than I learned from any of them. It's like your handing out the keys to the kingdom in every video.
Very constructive advice with excellent examples to help all guitarists that may be stuck in some stylistic rut. I'll definitely put all of these tips to use. What's the worst that could happen?
This guy is GREAT ! 👍 He's got humour and mostly shows how to build an interesting, expressive solo 😮 instead of playing as fast and loud as possible - for example : 240 bpm : 🎼 |♬ ♬ ♬ ♬| 😕 Music is emotion, not a competition ! 👊 Congratulations and thanks for this video ! 🙌 See you soon 😊
Your lessons are so inspiring that I want to grab my guitar and try it all out.....but wait.....it's past midnight! Love that Strat you have by the way! My favorite color for a Strat!
Cook county is the county surrounding Chicago. BB playing a fee concert there for everyone locked up the and recorded an album of the performance. It might be the best blues album ever recorded. I know that’s a strong statement, but it’s also an awesome album.
9:39 Ожидал, что он повторит эту фразу. Был готов словить кринж (да, вот так модно говорить в феврале-марте 2020 года). =) Видео очень интересное и информативное. Спасибо большое!
That was great, well done. I did enjoy it and you gave me the inspiration to pick up my electric guitar and start working on something new and useful. Thanks
Hii I am from India and just subscribed your channel. Well, I have been playing guitar for several years now. I am self-taught, so progress is slow naturally. This is one of the best soloing tips I have ever heard, not too much technical mumbo-jumbo short and solid. These are some of the conceptions I was lacking and I sounded very muddy. Thanks a lot brother. Looking forward for much more helpful stuff like this from you. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for you kind comment Kanad. I'm very glad to help, that's why I made the video! I hope, one day to visit your beautiful country! Lot's of love from Ireland!
This is for me the best guitar instruction on YT. There are many great teachers, but Guitar Pilgrim speaks to my level, is very inspiring and easy to understand. Some people are great players, and some are great teachers To be both is rare! Guitar Pilgrim is that rare person who embodies both traits.
