A great video as always. I love your secret weapon. And this is really I formative for people who think they need all the shinobue range to play certain keys. Thank you Miki Senseï!!
Hi Mr.Pirre! Yes, there are so many beginners coming in 😍; I am making shorter, more digestible videos for them! Thank you for watching and commenting!! 😍
What I get out of having more than one hon choshi is this: I feel like it keeps me used to having an easily adaptable breath. For example, breath pressure required to make sounds vary slightly from my 3, 6, 7, and 8 hon choshi fue. I try to balance my practice between each evenly. If I practice for a very very long time on 3 hon choshi, it can take me a few tries to get a good tone on the 8 hon choshi when switching back.
That is sooo true, Toothless!! To this day, switching from 3 hon choshi (or bigger flutes) to 7 or 8 hon choshi throws me off! I flood the small flute and sometimes I don't even get ANY sound at all!! 😅 It's so important to have a conversation with the shinobue as I play and not just put any breath.
@@MikiShinobue I’m feeling that a LOT right now, but with the opposite. I came down with a case of covid this week and my breathing feels absolutely off. I am not able to make a sound on any of my flutes! For a while, I thought it may have been that I somehow just forgot proper technique, but I can tell it’s just that I can’t focus my breath at all while sick. Getting better, but I am ready to start making sound again!
@@toothless7849 Get a lot of rest. You can still watch shinobue videos on RU-vid when you can't play! And you will be more ready when you actually feel better!! 🥰
D major is a bit tricky. 10 hon choshi is tuned to the D major, but it might be hard to find a 10 hon choshi, and the tone of the 10 hon choshi might sound a little too "cute" since it's a small shinobue. The next best hon choshi would be 3 hon choshi, if you have one and can play comfortably. It might be better to transpose D major to C major and play it with 8 hon choshi, as long as you are not playing along to a karaoke track in D major. Hope it helps!
