Great chipper!! I have the WM-8H model and it does great My recommendation is to get a forestry helmet with a mesh face shield...also comes with sound protection. Those branches can whip around quite a bit when feeding and the forestry helmet can protect your face. Gloves (tight at the wrists) are a good idea too
Thanks Roy! They are great machines and a great company to work with! I do tree work full time for a living so I am very used to the whipping branches! Eye and ear protection are a must! I believe my tractor puts out 32 hp at the pto
I was considering a Woodland mills wc88 but notice it was having issues with the safety bar on lots of different videos. Not to mention the hopper math doesn't look correct ..the things people where doing to make the chipper seem really smooth.... like taking every limb off of a 2 in diameter piece of limb just to make it go through a 8 " chipper 😁😁just to make sure it didn't stop the feeder rollers😂 .. also chipping poplar with twig limbs and ceder just so they could market there product to 20/30 pto hp tractors 😂.I'm really glad a clicked on this video .. I will be getting one of these. . Thanks for a real word video 😆
I do tree work for a living and use this chipper often for smaller limited access jobs. Time is money, and this chipper is the real deal! Don’t get me wrong, making relief cuts in the lateral branches definitely helps on larger diameter crotches but it will also break branches relatively easily. It’s no 16” Morbark, but when the right job arises it’s the perfect machine! Please mention Jake from Dude Ranch DIY if you do decide to purchase one!!
I appreciate this video. I just purchased 40ac and will need to do some cleaning up. This may be a real option for me. Might even could get a little return on the chips afterwards.
The chipper works great, a little slower than a full size chipper but the maneuverability is unmatched! I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have!
William Shemansky Great minds think alike! Thanks for the kind feedback William! I’ve really been enjoying using the equipment and making the videos! Plenty more to come...👍🏼
Not married yet… But I do always wear the small foam style earplugs that go inside of the ears! I know they’re hard to see but I find they work much better than the earmuffs on my hard hat I usually wear, I actually wear the earplugs and the earmuffs every day at my full-time job!
Yes I load it into the back of my trailer all the time with no problem. I did weld on two caster wheels in the rear to prevent it from scraping up pavement, even does fine in the woods, the 3-pt hitch picks it up pretty high off the ground.
How long is the chipper I have a Kabota MX 4700 tractor and a 16 foot dump trailer with 3 foot sides wondering if my back doors will shut with the chipper attached. Any chance you know the exact length of the chipper, can’t find it anywhere online
It really depends on your application, I use large tow behind 12”-18” chippers daily and they obviously have their advantages but the WoodMaxx chipper offered me much more versatility and access to areas where larger chippers can’t go. Anything too big for the chipper is loaded onto my dump trailer for firewood or goes to the dump. Another huge advantage is that I can move the tractor/chipper/grapple combo on my one trailer with one truck.
2 things, I have a modified Rumford cooking fireplace, so, some of the size of the wood you are chipping has me cringing over here. Second, you sold me... The Woodmaxx MX-8800 is for me. I have a ton of Alders that burn too hot and smell terrible, they will be fed to Maxx...and used for bedding. No, not mine...the cows.
I believe its 32 hp at the PTO, WoodMaxx requires a minimum of 20 PTO hp to run the chipper however having higher hp allows it to chip larger hardwood faster and more efficiently!
Have an 'Implement Fund' and feed it regularly. When you have enough for something you need to make your work easier on your land, then you get it without affecting the family. One purchase was for a grapple and when a wind storm came through, I was able to cut up and move the 60' pines by myself with the tractor.. The grapple has paid for itself many times over in time and wear & tear on me. Just think about what you need and how they can help.
