Man I do not miss that. Had several close calls getting pulled over! Usually they'd never even ask had I been drinking. But one cop asked me to blow my breath in his face. Thankfully it had been maybe an hour since I had drank and I had a strong flavored vape on hand. That stop was part of what made me start cutting back and eventually quitting..I can't afford a dui and I sure don't want to die of liver and organ failure.

I must add that the 2 things I've noticed since stopping the swill , just 3 weeks or so in, is my eyesight has improved dramatically!! Things are crisp and clear and my ability to shift from dark to light is not a problem. I attribute the change to being rehydrated . I'm drinking tons of fluids now. I'm sure theres alot of reasons but it's incredible. The other thing is this physical calmness in my body. I was having tension across my shoulders and pain in my joints . It's all gone. The only way to describe it is ...smooth and floaty in my overall entire body. I think my nervous system is cooled off and relaxed. It's very comfortable and unexpected!

Another benefit Sobriety gives you is a baseline for who you really are so you can finally start working on yourself. for example in my first year of sobriety I learned how severe my anxiety is, it wasn't all the alcohol doing it. I used to miss days of work and thought it was all the drinking doing it, now I realize it's the anxiety during the workday that makes me not wanna come back, not the alcohol making not wanna go to work.

41 days. Longest streak since I took a year off in 2010. I worked in the entertainment industry for a decade. Bar scene every single night. Alcohol went from a party drug to a sit-at-home-alone drug towards the end. I went on a camping and hiking trip back in May. I asked God to help deliver me from booze while climbing Mt Marcy in New York State. Since then, every time I tried to drink, the beer tasted like absolute shite. So I just stopped. I thank God for giving me that. Bit of advice tho: Don’t worry about over eating on cookies and sugary drinks in early sobriety. You WILL have intense sugar cravings. But a sleeve of cookies is much better for you than a six-pack of Sam Adams. Give yourself some forgiveness along the way too. Its a disease.

I deal with boredom by staying on top of eating health foods, taking vitamins and researching healthy stuff. We spent a lot of years putting poison in our body so it's time to start dumping good stuff in bro. I'm at 1 month sober also after 17 years. Another thing since I use to drink at night before bed is I realized I needed something to look forward to. So now I take this chamomile and lavender tea combo at night that's one hell of a relaxing ride. Just eat healthy bro....some drinkers have died a few years later only to find out it was because all the years of drinking. Alcohol deaths aren't always "get sick, go to hospital and die 3 to 6 weeks later". There's a story about another guy that decided to quit drinking until he was retired. He retired, started drinking and boom 2 years later, liver failure, dead at 53. Almost the same thing happened to my friends dad, only difference is he was 68 when he retired, started drinking again, dead at 70. This is probably due to the liver not fully recovering from years of drinking then adapting to operate at a low functioning level then it gets alcohol again after years of running at 40% and gives out.
@Vincent_Preston
@Vincent_Preston 11 месяцев назад
@Unmaleable Yeah, no doubt. I've been off work for 4 months bc of an injury, so I was drinking a lot and packed on some belly fat. I am currently trying to lose some of that. On top of that, I've been working on hygiene and even skin care. I want to get back to the gym, but I have to wait for the green light from my physiotherapist. I've also been using the time to sort out some things I've been neglecting for years. I will admit, though, I have been craving more sugar and carbs, so I eat a bit more junk food 😆.
@stephent2243
@stephent2243 10 месяцев назад
@@Unmaleable Yep, I felt better from not drinking so I decided to learn how to cook well too. That removed some boredom (by being in the kitchen at night) and I felt even better for eating quality food. Replacing those bad habits with good ones is key though - Boredom isn't ideal for me either.

I'm 74 years old and stopped drinking eight years ago. This was after drinking for fifty years and with the last thirty-five years drinking excessively every day. With expectations that certain benefits would quickly take place. One of these were I would immediately lose weight, but the opposite occurred. I literally gained around thirty pounds because of the sugar craving that started when I initially stopped drinking. Once these cravings stopped I not only lost the thirty pounds but around another twenty pounds as well. Five years into sobriety and with more time on my hands, I decided one day to calculate how much I spent drinking yearly. Which was concvertibly just over 15K. With that in mind I realized that 60K magically disappeared over that span. It apparently was swallowed up by everyday expenses or my wife has a secret off shore account in the Cayman Islands

Keep going man! 34 days in after 17 years. Can't stress this enough but eat healthy stuff!!! Drink carrot juice, yes it's nasty but it's good for your liver, eat fish, fruits, white meats, take B vitamins and most importantly vitamin D, eat bananas too. All that stuff will make you feel better on the inside and out brother. Also add a tablespoon of raw honey a day to the regimen to heal your gut. Instead of looking forward to a drink now I look forward to my morning yogurt, my supplements, my cup of blueberries, my glass of pear juice and at night I look forward to eating a juicy apple and drinking some chamomile and lavender tea which provides some epic relaxation 😉. If you start getting cravings keep some L-Glutamine handy and try it out for a few days. I swear it helped me around week 3 when I was feeling a bit down and thought about a drink. We spent a lot of time putting nature's poison in our body. Now it's time to start putting nature's gifts into our body. And I know groceries are getting expensive and health foods have always been expensive. The most expensive thing on the foods listed above is the corrot juice but a gallon of that stuff last like 2 weeks. Pear juice is next, also expensive but great for any gut issues and acid reflux especially.

I think it really takes someone who feels at the end of his ropes to be able to appreciate sound advice. It doesn't end there, though. You still have to go through the process of detoxification. Mood swings and doubt are a foot. You should never rely solely on one individual for encouragement. We humans and attitudes change one minute to the other. Maintaining relationships is a two-way street. This man expects results from its listeners. Let's keep up so that we can give him a good report at the end of the day and show him that his efforts are not in vain

Seven years ago, I quit drinking after many years. This had a tremendously positive effect after a year. I lost weight, looked better, became fitter, had more energy and felt I could do a lot more and I did. However, to date, my relationships were demolished to the extent I have not one friend left now, I became very unhappy and severely depressed, extremely anxious and paranoid. Both my businesses were completely destroyed. I have lost my money, lost my residences, lost my businesses, my vehicles, my wife. Basically, everything in my life went to hell. Whist not perfect whilst I was drinking for over 40 years, this is so, so, so much worse.

LOVE not drinking. Proved myself enough already right? Relapse is good for you for perspective but drinking can definitely let that slide. Sitting without it is nice!

One thing that made drinking so dangers for me is after a while I never got hangovers. I started drinking around 11 or 12...it's cool having a rich best friend but not when the money comes for his parents owning several bars. The garage basement and fridge were always full of liquor. Boxes and boxes to try. Some had been sitting years so parents never checked. On our 13th birthday we drank 13 shots and got alcohol poison. I was so sick the next morning I walked 5 miles home just to go back to bed. And ways that evolved into skipping class in highschool just to hit up the liquor store for a half pint. I didn't quit until I joined the military. Flipped a vehicle hammered drunk before going to basic. Escaped a dui. Man of course after basic...started drinking again and over the course of the next 10 years from 23 I was on and off drinking having maybe 1 to two year breaks...then when on a 3 year daily binge after covid happened. 3 weeks sober today. My mind is so much more clear. Alcohol is poison man. It's nasty stuff. If you haven't quit yet if I can do it you can too! I'm not going back this time. You need these videos...watch one maybe 3 times a week constantly remind yourself about the damage this alcohol poison does to your internal organs...don't go back!! IWNDWYT

Apparently and evidently, I get seizures after I stop moderately drinking. I had a seizure in front of my daughter and father! My anxiety goes through the roof, to begin with! But, I’m trying ❤️‍🔥

Thought i would drop a 2nd post on this video from a month ago. Its been 7 weeks since yesterday and im not out of the woods yet but doing better now than i was. That stuff alcohol is deadly, no good and i had no idea how bad it really was. I just kept it social at the weekends so theres me thinking I would be ok because it was just at weekends but how wrong was I! Anyone struggling during the early stages of giving up this stuff, heres some tips thats helped me. Eat healthy, so in the morning have an apple, orange, blue berries and a banana. Boring i know but mood boosting is whats needed trust me. Exercise, go for long walks even if you dont feel like it and you're too anxious make yourself do it anyway. If you cant go out then just do a load of squats indoors just any form of exercise to tire yourself out. Watch a load of breathing exercises on youtube, do a load of breathing exercises and hypnosis sessions for anxiety/depression etc. It takes multiple ways to battle this but try and make yourself do these things consistently everyday until you start to feel more at ease. There wont be instant results but results there will be at 1 time or another nonetheless.

I’m so interested in this videos , me and my family have always been drinkers , I’m 33 and Iv always enjoyed a beer with friends and people down the pub but wouldn’t say I have a problem at all but I do think now at my age that I need to think about money and health and learning new skills , any advice? Cheers x

I believe a person's problems start when they think it's a good idea to put a toxin into their body for a buzz, regardless of the consequences. It's a mindset problem. LIfe is about choices and tradeoffs. What choices are you making? What tradeoffs happen because of those choices?

If I may. Choose sobriety friend. If it's not a problem then it won't be a problem logically. Right? All the best.

Only being 21 years old, I’m embarrassed by the fact that I have years of alcohol abuse behind me. Really hoping last night was the last night I spend in a drunken stupor. Feels like shooting in the dark with it, but all the liquor and beer are in the dumpster now and hopefully it stays that way.

been off booze a month...l miss the buzz and listening to music but l do not miss waking up feeling like shit the next day. also l have more money...l was blowing about 40 bucks a week on gin. that adds up eventually. lm not saying l will never drink again but giving the body a break from booze is a good feeling.
