If Sigmund Freud were alive today and practicing psycho-analysis, I'm sure you'd have made a fascinating case study

This was a lot of fun for me. I have a LOT of vivid dreams, and one of the most common genres is related to my former career (now retired) as an anthro uni prof... The deets vary a lot, but usually I'm stressing out about some aspect of a course I'm teaching, or student(s) in the classroom. One common one is that I'm late to my classroom (for one of various reasons: traffic on freeway, unfamiliarity with the campus or the room, etc.), while another is a challenge within the class (unruly or emotional students, students glued to their cells, confused student, etc.). So, your last dream would be right up my alley; I hope I don't have a terror-related teaching dream tonite!!!

Thanks a lot 🙏 By the way, if you ever feel like it, we could do a video together... on a similar topic (like analysing the same Borges Short Story or something) :D Just an idea. I had that thought before but I couldn't find an e-mail address of yours. Anyways, take care!

You said it today - many different angles but all quintessentially Strange Lucidity because they are tied together with the golden thread of your interest. Reaction comments kept popping up I'll in artfully list them to get them out: 1) you might have a bestseller: How Don Quijote Can Help You Raise Great Kids. Somethings there! 2) the legacy, the torch....you are so steeped in literature right now. And all the great literature is a bridge from the past to the present and perhaps the future. Like an acorn contains the oak. You are being handed (through your hard work of studying) all this wonderful wisdom and insight and experience on this literature and you have a sense of responsibility and you're wondering, What am I going do with this? How will I spend the the time I have with the illuminating torch? What will I pass on as a result of my time with it's illuminating light?" 3) Best (I have to offer) for last. My favorite. Proust. The ocean liner. Yees! Once Proust comes into your view, he, like the ocean liner, takes up the view of the horizon because once you dip your toe into the ocean of Proust, its all you can see. To support my point consider how I interpret your last dream - when you're on the train and don't answer your phone - of course you remember at the end of Guermantes Way and the beginning of Volume 4 when the Duc gives all the staff the night off so that no one will be able to tell him his cousin has died and thus force the Duc to miss his long anticipated night a costume ball?? That's you on the train not looking at your phone! LOL. It took me to Proust. I love it. Wonderfully fun video. One last question: You read literature, you have the personal development books, you watch videos... I'd love to know how you organize things. Digital? Analog? A combination? your system for taking notes on reading and then organizing the content and what you want to take from them is of interest to me. It is an ongoing struggle with me. Perhaps others who watch your videos. If you ever care to share how you do it I'd be very interested. Thank you for another enjoyable and thought provoking video.

Your comments always mean so much to me. You have no idea! I love reading them. And I do want to make a video about how I organise my notes and plan my week (it's not planned for the next view videos though) Thank you. I appreciate you!

Hi Maria, it's Scott here again. Nice Video Thanks. I have wonderful, technicolour dreams thickly laced with complicated narrative, but after pondering them for just a moment upon waking they usually slip away and diminish before I could note them down, much to my chagrin! Do you have any tips as to how I can retain them in my mind for longer? They'd make for great little stories I feel.

I've read the Brothers Karamazov twice. First in the spring of 1970, during my father's last illness. More recently, a few years ago. I think you will really, really like it when you get around to reading it. However your dream about it is not particularly helpful in understanding it. While it involves more than one generation of the Karamazov family, the legacy bit is somewhat related, but not very insightful. More insight can be gleaned by reading the Wikipedia entry summarizing Dostoevsky's life, paying particular attention to his mock execution and imprisonment. Another suggestion I would make is to pay particular attention to the narrator. Ask yourself where the narrator is located in time and space? What does the narrator know at the end of the novel about what will happen afterwards? I only recall a few dreams about reading. They were from the early 1970s when I was a graduate student in math. I recall having a series of lucid dreams around that time where, in my dreams, I was doing something I did every day: going into the math office to check my mailbox and reading my mail. In the dreams I would pull messages out of my box, read them, and understand what they said. In my lucid dreams I paid particular attention to the act of reading, looking closely at the paper and examining the words. It was all greeking! Meaningless symbols with no meaning. But, when I took a step back and looked at it, the meaning was clear. Not only were the symbols meaningless when I looked closely, but they were not even constant; they swam and shifted. It reminded me somewhat of experiences I'd had on acid trips where the patchy ceiling of my room was always covered in colorful, lightly shaded alphabetic and numeric shapes slowly shifting, or when I would see patterns line shading in a blank sheet of paper. The one time I tried to draw the lines I saw on the paper I quickly gave up because placing a mark on the paper caused the lines to shift. That's all I've got for you. Sweet dreams.

Girl, you have some amazing and vivid dreams! I don't remember many of my dreams and they are never anything worth discussing. I often wonder, am having dreams and not remembering them or am i not dreaming ? Is there such a way to train yourself to dream more ? I take herbal supplements to help me stay asleep and I wonder if that is keeping me from dream sleep 😕

by the way - i read the following recently about blueberries and dreams - i don't know why it stuck with me because i don't dream about blueberries but since you mentioned it --- Dreaming of blueberries suggests navigating a delicate situation in life and not letting it overwhelm you, reminding us to maintain emotional stability and that there will always be other chances and decisions to make. Blueberries represent hope and safety, offering symbols of longevity, spiritual wisdom, and promoting overall well-being.

Aw thanks a lot. Also for the blueberry comment. Very interesting! Since there seems to be a bigger interest in the topic I'm planning a video about dreaming, books I've read, etc. I'll note down your question! Thanks again 🙏

Jean Genet first came across a volume of Proust in prison. He read one sentence, and knew that his life would never be the same again.. To read all of Proust is an event which will transform your life. Be warned! The same is true of Karamazov, which I'm sorry to say has no connection with your imagined summary.

it seems to me that all your "literary dreams" point up a desire (ambitions, fears, concerns) for progeny, expectations of motherhood/parenthood vs. career/independence, etc.; blueberries and blueberry juice=ovulation. Just an uninformed, intuitive surmise on my part.mm
