Hello, Brian! I think it is awesome you are trying to save so many locos. If it can be done, you could do it, but it was interesting to hear your analysis of each one. And, yes, the one train was German. Deutsche Bundebahn was the first name of the West German Federal Railway beginning in 1949.
The Canadian Pacific Loco is a model power, its origins are a 1940's Mantua Die cast model, then Marx, made them in plastic in the 50's then Lima as a Generic international tank loco, RSO/Model power also.
I have a GWR Mainline made Class 14XX like you have there. It hates going round corners in reverse and the pick-ups are the 'Bullet and Spring' type of pick up on all wheels but if the springs are done, the pick-ups aren't going to reach the wheels. That's the problem I have but haven't fixed yet. The drive box is a scunner to get that drive-shaft back in. It will go back in though. Those central traction tyres don't help either as they teeter-totter around the traction tyres...but what can you do without moving the mid axle to the front if you can? They look a fairly unusual bunch of Locomotives. I've not seen the Canadian one or the Deutche BundesBahn one before. Sorry I can't help with the Class 47 chassis. Decent working motor though, well used throughout the Hornby range in the 80's with Silver Seal wheels and many tender drive units fitted with them. I will have another look at my 14XX again, see if I can't solve the pick-up problem and the traction tyre problem without drawing wheels out of bushes to swap them...but if that's the only option...! Cheers Brian. Sorry, long night and long reply! Keep safe, mate!
Lol your OK flymo if you want me to take a look I could ? The traction tyres issue is a bug bear there was a lump in one which I filed down but I think it's original, I have 2 options either find better quality ones or swap out the wheels in the hope it still gives good traction on the track .Will do a follow up video in the future thanks for watching flymo.
Some win lose and draw loco`s, I have a few savable bits but spares are so costly on that well known auction site it`s cheaper to buy a runner. I keep my eyes out a fairs but the dealers don`t seem to bother with the odd`s and sods boxes you could rumage through nowadays
