2:40 Not sure what that penalty was for and the referee took an age to come up with a reason. "Loose Head's bind and then went to ground" There was nothing wrong with the Loose Heads bind and no-one went to ground. So that was plucked out of the thin air. He then proceeds to move the kick around from the two points that he marked.
I don’t know what the penalty was for in the sense that I could see nothing wrong with the bind and he didn’t hinge. However, the referee was right there and either he saw something that warranted a penalty or he gave into the home crowd or he was corrupt or he was inept. At this level, the referee should not be inept and through all my playing years, I never meta bent referee; so, he either saw something or gave into home pressure. Again, at this level, we do not have the benefit of replays or the TMO and so, if we believe in the core ethos of the game, the referee is the sole arbiter of fact.
