I felt like I just sat through a business meeting, does no one see something wrong with this? How is it that the church has become a business? Strategies to get people into the building. I was a leader in children’s ministry for 10 years. I will not allow my children to ever be a part of it. This is why: Children’s ministry is focused on moral actions, not the transforming power of Jesus Christ. It’s like a giant how-to manual, how-to live the Christian life. The problem is that we’re giving kids the “how” without the “why.” The Gospel is clouded with works-based teaching, so when they go to college they walk away. They never had Jesus to begin with, they had religion. I have a greater fear of putting my kids in church every Sunday than putting them in public school. The damage done by teaching works-based morality is nearly irreversible in my mind. It will ruin them. Please stop focusing on numbers and activities and place your aim on kid’s hearts. Teach Christ alone every single Sunday. The Gospel is all these kids need.
I only have a total of 8 kids they vary in ages between 4 and 13. All in the same class room. I am new and having a difficult time in teaching this group. There are times I have no children in class. If I have a baby in class there are older ladies who will take care of them. This church is tiny and has few children, most members are in their 60’s to 80’s
