Kodak was a little more than disposable cameras. They had a whole range of film cameras, but their biggest commodity was the film itself. Kodak also had developing labs, to develop the film. Technically film cameras even now will produce higher quality photos, than digital. Although digital is far easier to use, produces instant results, and can be incorporated into other devices such as mobile phones. Fun fact, more photos have been taken on mobiles, than on all cameras since when first invented (film an digital)
Yes the film rolls that made up most of their revenue didn’t actually go in a disposable camera…. Think it might be a generational thing, I wonder if Queenie remembers film cameras- these things make me feel so old! 😂
Another thing is they gambled that it would return in popularity which it has. Film just cannot be replicated like digital (well it can but the process is different from loading to printing) However Kodak gave up all their film developing in favour of those crappy machines that everywhere uses now that simply scan and print negatives. Im fairly certain there is still only one company left in the world that still manually develops commerical film stock. (Well there was only one when i was shooting commercially a few years back) Point being is sometimes even bad company choices can bounce back up later.

Yes people like Warren Buffet tru to get high value at low price but there is never any certainty of that, which is why I dollar cost average in the market.
