Lorena Vargas, Physical Therapist, explains the "typical" motor development of the 6-month-old baby. At 6 months, the baby is able to roll from their back to their belly and vice versa, and they play for a longer period of time on their belly and side lying demonstrating improved stability in their shoulders and trunk. Also, babies at 6 months old start to pivot or to move in circles when playing on their belly to reach for their favorite toy. Sometimes, babies at 6 months start creeping and propelling themselves forward with their forearms and knees or feet. The baby spends more time playing in sitting position and using their hands to explore rather than using them for balance.
