My Sammy, my service dog was a golden ECS just like Spartacus. In Hawai’i we were two blocks from the ocean--didn’t dog paddle--just let the waves take him--as soon as he smelled the salt water he took off at a dead run and dove into the waves!
it's just great. My cocker spaniel is 13 years old now. Still in very good shape. He likes to sleep much more than in previous times. The biggest different we noticed, is that he doesn't mind chicken walking around ;). When he was younger he hounted 13 chickens in one hour. That's the one. Philip. Greetings from PL
RSAhokejfan I've had a 15+ y old one :) was energetic till the very end when going for a walk.. however his sight and teeth were problematic at the time and yea .. that made me smile, mine gone crazy after birds every time :))))))))
Hi Mary I have a new clip up. Sparty now dives deeper than 2 metres! I would love it if the clip gets shared so I can show off how clever he is. We are so proud. There has also been a litter born sired from him with our Beagle Phoebe. The little ones are trying to copy daddy in the water. Please share and thanks for watching.
My blonde cocker spaniel of 15 years past away last year. Horrible time for the whole family. Our newest sable cocker spaniel Esme (now 5 yrs) took on nearly the same personality as our old one Shelby. Great dogs cockers. I plan on getting another some day. Though not any time soon. Nice spaniel you have there, very gorgeous.
I've been told if water goes in their ears they could die? .. and not sure but the beagle seems smarter :) maybe because sparty is a youngster still :) my cocker was very bright.. awesome dogs! cheers
What do you mean? They can get an ear infection IF you don't properly clean their ears after they go diving, etc. However, any cocker owner should clean their dog's ears on a regular basis. However, I doubt the infection could kill them.
I'm actually surprised that your cocker is/was scared of water, as they're usually rather strong swimmers, seeing as though they were bred not only as hunting dogs but primarily for masters who shot such aquatic birds as ducks & water fowl.
Made me laugh so much!! I've been trying to get my cocker spaniel into the shallow pond in the park by throwing treats in but I think he's still too young, he wouldn't budge!!
That's so cute - love the shots at the end where Sparty's completely under water! I've got a 13 month old blue roan cocker and he's just had his first swim in the River Thames in London trying to get his ball - so cute to watch!

Tyler McLemore why shouldn't they have a tail that they were naturally born with??? It's mankind who started docking dog's tails not God.I see Rottweilers with tails and they look just fine with their tail also...no their tails aren't suppose to be docked. It's just a stupid stereotype for certain breeds of dogs Boxer,Rottweiler,Cocker, etc..
