I've been using the Clearsource Mini water filter system for a little over six months now, and I'm back with another update for you. Using it for full-time RVing for 3 months seems to be the usable filler life before they restrict flow too much. Other than that, I like the system. See my original review video and first update after 3 months.

I use the bigger one. The 10 inch one. It is a VERY good one. Going on 4 years. I replace the filters one a year. Then move on.

Ray, in my filter system, the fine filter could be cleaned, and I could get it back to normal flow. If you can't clean the third, fine filter, maybe you could test the difference in flow with just changing the fine filter or changing all three. With my system, I only change the prefilter if I notice any changes to the taste or smell of the water. I am fairly sensitive to chlorine, and I notice right away when the charcoal filter stops removing it. Anyways, I would be very interested if you could test whether you need to change just one or all three every three months, or if like me, you can clean the final filter a few times before changing. Mine is a Rainfresh system, they are sold at cantire and Home Depot. So easy to source, just a little bulkier, so the smaller form factor is interesting if the filter life can be extended.

Unfortunately that's one of the tradeoffs of the mini 3 stage water filter systems. I've been using the Clear2O brand 10 micron dirtguard and 5 micron inline carbon filter to catch some of the bigger stuff before it hits the 3 stage filter system. I usually get about 6 months or longer out of them doing it that way. The 10 micron filter can be cleaned by back flushing it making it one less consumable I have to worry about. When I start my process of filling up my main tank, it looks like I'm operating a mobile water testing lab. Depending on the water sample test, I have to decide if I need to pass it through the water softener or not then through the UV sterilizer. At 3 gpm minimum, it takes a good long hot minute to fill up a 40 gallon tank from flat to full. If the potable water station is busy, I'll just send prefiltered to a bladder tank and pull to the side to process so I don't hold things up too much.

thanks for the video - I can't believe a company put a product on the market that required changes every three months using RV park water - which I assume is processed water.

Most of my use was off-grid during our trip to the southwest and back. I filled at some national and state parks, BLM campgrounds, RV parks, and dump stations that offer fresh water. Amazing how much stuff was in the water to be able to clog the filters.

good update. approximately how many gallons of water would you say you filtered before you changed them out?
@LoveYourRV

Somewhere between 1000-1200 gallons would me my guess

Hi Ray 👋 I'm wondering if you went thru and replaced just one filter at a time if there would be one culprit that's slowing the water flow, or if it's all of them?
@LoveYourRV

Yeah, I tried that with my spare gently used filters one by one and it didn't make much difference

😂 so much wasted time. Silver mesh is your best friend. A simple coffee filter is all that's needed after. Silver is 99% anti bacterial. Actual silver not the color silver. 100% with a slight charge.

Even works for air filters 🤫

Interesting, do you have a link to the filter? I would think the water would need to spend some time in the silver to have any effect.

@@LoveYourRV no sir...working on that.... but packing it in PVC isn't a bad idea just need something like a larger stationary filter to hold the silver in place. Just silver mesh is all you need for antibiotics filter or silverware even. They didn't use it in the past because it was shiny. It served a purpose like many of the things they did few understand reasons to. ♾️🙏🏼 Greatest luck with your designs friends

A few silver coin size pieces can keep water safe for storage as well.
