I have an S80 V8 (63,000kms) here in Australia. The B8444S Yamaha engine is brilliant. Smooth, refined, high revving and sounds awesome even with stock exhaust. For its 4.4-liter displacement, the B8444S was also the most compact V-8 produced at that time, and one of the cleanest burning V-8s available, being the first eight-cylinder to meet the competitive Ultra-low-emission vehicle (ULEV II) standard. What's great about the S80 & XC90 V8's is that they slip under the radar and IMO are massively underrated (and therefore great value). And lIke all Volvos they're built to last, very safe and with the most comfortable seats of any car. Look after it Bern!
I regret selling my xc90. I did definately get constant harassment from Police here. Every time I was shot going 7-8 over the limit I'd get the death glare from the local constabulary, which I'd never get in a Brolux or similar. The problem in Australia is that they only do well on the highway. I got 10L/100 on the highway, sometimes as low as 8.9 if I had aircon off. In the city I got 13.8 all day every day.
170000 is still low mileage for this engine. If you start having pulley noises, it is pretty easy to do. That small oil leak will come back. Just before 200000 I'd plan to replace the valve cover gaskets, the timing cover seal, and if you can an alternator that Is volvo, don't use aftermarket alternator, the regulator runs a little closer to 14v. Volvo runs more like 13,75 and ecu gives you an error and doesn't go away. Best to do all that work and the PCV valve at once. And you won't have to worry about it ever again
This video is cool. Gets to the point no useless or annoying music. Thanks for the video. Thinking of getting one as a used one popped up at a dealership near me.
Also get bean bags for the back seat with blankets take girls to the drive ins I used to do it all the time it’s a perfect car for it with the split tailgate n all
@sophiabirbas6986 it's an 05 XC90. It has the naturally aspirated V8. I do my oil change every 5k million, I changed my transmission fluid every 60k miles, and that's about it.
This is awesome. My dad got a once off twin turbo kit made from heico, the turbos are formed into the exhaust manifold and it makes 700whp!!! His xc90 eats amg GTs for breakfast 😆
Literally fucking bullshit. Unless he had a custom once off transmission built which would cost a bucketload, total lies. I believe that maybe someone could get 400HP from theirs but 700HP bitch please. The stock trans (TF-80) barely handles the 245kw it spits out.
@@alexj6408 it literally is... its a once off car mate... the guy who ordered it through heico worked with volvo on the v8 supercars team, it cost him 200k and he sold it before it was finished. The transmission isn't standard, it's make almost entirely out of machined billet aluminium parts and can withstand a shit tonne of torque.
@@alexj6408 I didn't even give any info on the build either, wouldn't it be a given, that something with 700 horsepower would have a different transmission, that was built, to withstand said power...
Yes! You had the windows tinted and it looks AMAZING! I looked up getting the windows tinted a few days ago. The Colorado sun is NO joke in the summer, so it is a must when I get my Volvo. And I joined the FB group and will get the head unit, just will have to get the unit installed as I know nothing about installing that kind of stuff. I have looked up how to do the oil changes myself and if I can I will do the transmission fluid change myself also. Just to think that I was originally leaning more on getting the 2003-10 Lexus RX330, but the XC90 has really moved to the front of the pack thanks to your videos! Side-note I test drove a Volvo S60 back in 2008 that left a great impression, so it is not surprising that I have circled back to Volvo.
Not sure if you already figured it out, there are 4 clips On the sunroof shade. I only replaced the front ones because rear are impossible to change, but it helps the sunroof shade not slide
Like you're XC90 man! I used to have a 2010 model then has electrical problems with it, now I have a 2014 XC90 99k on it. Hopefully have better luck with this one haha I really am a Volvo fan though.
I really enjoyed your videos and the before and 6 months later. I just looked at a used XC90 yesterday. I really liked it but it had some issues the hubby didn’t feel like repairing. But I find myself really wanting one now.
So funny! Great review, and you look like you are having a lot of fun! Just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this car. Looks amazing. I'm thinking I also want to tint my windows, but I think doing them that dark isn't legal in my state. 😕😎
Lol! I soun like you when I drive🤣🤣 I LOVE Volvo's and I'm on the fence between a Volvo xc90--xc60 or a Tahoe LTZ of the same year(2010-2012). The thing that concerns me about the Volvo is the serpentine belt change and the water issue. Have you had any issues with these? Thanks- Thor is awesome and your videos are very well done and very informative. 👌🙏
Money hurts me the same way as it does for everyone LOL, the driving experience makes it worth it! And plus it's actually been cheaper than some of my 6 cylinder cars on gas 💀
I live in DC and I am checking out Volvo XC 90's in the area. There's a guy named Pierre that sells used Volvos. Are you familiar with him? Do you know a place in the DMV that normally has decent XC90's?
Well presented and you seem like an educated & likable guy. However, I am not a fan of front blacked out windows. It's a safety hazard...not so much for you in the day time, but for other drivers trying to observe if you see them, etc. Law enforcement doesn't like coz it puts them in jeopardy when approaching a vehicle they just stopped..."What's that driver doing". Besides all of that, it is against federal law and most state laws...For good reason.
I would check for oil leaks!! Valve Cover Gaskets, front and rear, make sure the transmission shifts smoothly while accelerating and decelerating, and also make sure you know what codes the check engine light is on for, if it has a check engine light!
@BernRomulus I remember on my old XC70 that the Volvo cross bars KILLED my mpg on highway (And also aren't that practical). Have you noticed with this rack? And if so... how drastic? (I have an xc90 p2... lifted... myself fyi.)
I would love a V8 on one of these. What is your opinion on the 3.2? It seems it makes it a completely different vehicle with the V8. I don't see many of these V8s for sale.
shhhhh please. Do not tell people about these vehicles. They will become in more demand & the prices will go up like the Honda CRV. By the way 1,000 miles per month is nothing. My ram 3500 diesel I bought in Sept. of 2012 has over 1,020,000 miles on it now.
@@BernonCars Thanks Bern. Just subscribed. Question. I’m in the market for one of these. I live in New York. Can you give me some advice on which years and engine choice are the most reliable? Thanks bro.
@@BernonCars I see. You’re like a kid in a candy store with THOR 😂. Thanks for the response and advice my friend. Looking forward to you getting to 1 Million subscribers. I’ll be on that journey with you 👍🏾
