A new episode of Dead by Design is here! How do you all like the updated format of this series? Remember, if you want to see a perk get reworked, leave it in a comment below and I'll see what I can do! And yes, before anyone asks, another episode of WANTED: is coming soon! :^)
I think they’re fun concepts, but some seem more niche than useful. I like the idea of a perk that gives you a buff but gives you exhaustion afterwards, which expands exhaustion perks from second chance perks. The scourge hook is a fun idea, being able to make new scourge hooks would be hella useful. And the boon perk is interesting. I like the idea of having a perk that makes booning a totem instantly but only for a temporary set of time for if you need it at a moments notice, but I think the best part lies within the fact that it blocks a totem. Like instead of for this perk, you move the 20 seconds of not being able to snuff it out over to Boon: Dark Theory, where along with its current 2% haste, it makes the boon actually somewhat useful. I do think these ideas are fun, but I think some are better than others, however I do enjoy the fact the perks are very creative and bring new ideas to the table
Thank you for the comment! It means a lot. I 100% agree with you, some of these are way too niche and probably not worth running. I think when I design perks I focus on the creative side a bit too much. After I uploaded this I realized that going forward, the perks in general just need to be stronger and comments like yours reinforce that.
@@latenightnomad better to test the waters with unique ideas rather than put out the same ideas everyone else has thought about, plus niche ideas now can spark something a lot more useful later down the line
Urgent care should cause exhausted after activation, not deactivation, because then you could run it and an exhaustion perk and not have any consequence for getting caught when using it
Some perks that could do with reworks: Shattered Hope Poised Visionary Territorial Imperative Both Teamwork perks Premonition Rapid Brutality Alien Instinct Predator
I appreciate how all of these idea's push against the limiting standardization of a lot perks. Exhaustion coming into affect outside of chase etc. For your next Dead By Design video: I'd like to recommend Unrelenting. (Obviously) I'd like to have the utility of perk have a meaning outside of just helping someone that misses. For example: On top of it's current effect, When you lunge outside of the maximum length you can lunge an additional 25% with the side effect of not being able to damage a survivor during the extension. Maybe a minor QoL update to make it slightly worth running: 5% more lunge speed, bumping into objects with an m1 still gives you the cooldown reduction.
I feel like Breakdown would be good for this, it's such a useless perk unless your whole team is building a plan around it, and even then its viability is minimal.
I make everything in paint.net (free program, can be found online) and I either draw the icon itself or pull pieces from official DBD perks (usually a bit of both.) For example, Urgent Care is Lucky Break's icon with the lettering removed + the healing effects from Reactive Healing's icon. Mimicry is the standard chest icon surrounded by the border of Dragon's Grip.
There are some very cool perks in this one. One thing tho: Mimicry is probably not the best Idea, because it would make chests even less used than before. I would rather make it a plaything for chests than a blastmine for chests to incentivise chests and not disencentivise it. BUT a cool concept would be to do something similar to totems. Like keep the effect, but for totems and put a 2 health state req on it.
