Wow that was quick, I got the email too. I think they did it in response to FL Studio releasing FL 24, but they have still been pretty behind honestly because FL got a lot of plugins from reputed companies with FL Cloud like baby audio, melda, etc. They also got CLAP support, 1 new synth, 2 new effects, cloud mastering and so forth. Excluding already awesome things like stem separation and so forth. They are updating a lot more often than ableton and of course they are also doing it for free, I hope this puts some pressure on ableton to do better because they seem to be losing a lot of steam.
I feel like it's similar to the Instagram/Tiktok battle. One platform just trying to stay ahead of the other, when one releases a filter the other releases a filter AND longer recording times for stories... Ableton is totally doing that with the other DAWs in mind. Oh, everyone has Auto-Tune, well did you know we can do x, y, z unlike other DAWs (knowing most users probably use 3rd party tuners) adding this minor change finally puts a nail in the coffin for truly best DAW out the box.
@@WillHatton So you guys actually think that Ableton saw FL release FL24 and then whipped up a whole bunch of new features, including an Autotune effect, within a single day? Wow, those Ableton coders must be the fastest around!
@@vinylarchaeologist I think it would be ridiculous to think that but companies share their patch notes internally months / years before progress starts. It would be easy for each of the members to know exactly what’s coming down the pipe. Even as a “RU-vid Producer” I hear about new releases and updates all the time through brands, sponsors, engineers or other producers. My point was more on the fact that Logic and other DAWs have had a built in auto-tune for time, Ableton doesn’t exclusively look at FL as it’s competition but the market, if a free programme like BandLab has auto-tune built in, Ableton probably should too.
@@WillHatton Thank you for your thoughful response. I must admit, I'm always a bit dumbfounded at many people's impatience with Ableton, "add this, add that, faster, faster". Wouldn't people rather give Ableton the chance to actually *refine* a feature before they bring it to market, have it actually be good, well thought-out, and resource-efficient? Thankfully, Ableton is a German company, where clocks are ticking a bit differently, so they seem to like to take their time - and I applaud them for that.
Why do we celebrate f***ing auto tune??? That's why we have so many no talent singers out here. Tired of everything sounding so perfect in music today. You lose the human element. I miss the days when people could actually sing & had unique individuality in their voice. I understand using it as an effect but to use it to cover vocal deficiency does not foster excellence.
If they knew it was coming, that Saturator might have played a role in iZotope’s quick rollout of the new Trash. I like Trash, but Saturator can pretty much do the same thing now.
I’ll be honest. Maybe it’s the fact that you’re making the video announcing the updates, but you and I know that this pitch correction adds artifacts that are completely noticeable. I’m hoping they fix that with future updates or before the official launch is due. But for now I’m keeping my Antares subscription.
Damn I pretty much never use autotune, but that midi control function is pretty cool honestly and I think I'm gonna use that haha. Drum sampler is gonna be great for breaks and a bunch of other stuff. The Limiter update is EXCITING. The Limiter seems to be SO much better 😳 Saturator sounds even better than before. Macro mapping and grouping for Push is awesome. Splitting clips in clip view... HYPED!
YES. i was literally mad when i bought the 12 upgrade it crashes and was just an update 11 could have had. i dont really use autotune but might be cool for samples and drums
Was just about to compliment/commend you, after 5 seconds of speech without a jump cut...then it happened... Is it now compulsory that all videos uploaded to yt contain jump cuts? Have all content creators been brainwashed to believe that they are, "cool?" If you knew the damage they do to the prefrontal cortex, you wouldn't try harming others with them.
Drum sampler makes no sense to me. Thanks for the slightly different simpler ableton! Why don’t you have control over the parameters of fx 2? Why can’t you chain multiple fx? Is it because they made it for live lite and dont want to make it too good? I think yes. Ableton is getting greedy.
Ableton is only missing a built in stem separator, MIDI 2.0 full support at this point. Love it! I would say the auto-shift makes up for not having ARA - but would like to see a Melodyne like grid editor for it.
Also built in Auto Gain Compensation would be simpler for them to implement at DAW level than for any third party to plug that in. That would be pretty cool
They actually integrated lots of Push 2 and 3 updates which I can imagine will be followed with updates to stand alone too. Copy & pasted below... "Live 12.1 comes with a host of updates to Push. With Push 2 and 3 you can now design sounds with more detail and control by mapping Macros, and experiment with a range of different sounds using Macro Variations. Push 3 now also lets you add groove instantly to all the MIDI clips in your Set with a single twist of an encoder. The new update brings Live 12’s filtering system to the browser on Push 2 and 3, as well as auto-tagging for samples on Push 3 standalone. Plus, you can now save Default Sets and Template Sets on Push 2 and 3, and organize your Sets by moving tracks and scenes."
Holy shit it would be amazing if it did. I make microtonal music, and ive been wanting a tuning pitch shifter for forever. The only vsts i know that do it are the most expensive version of antares autotune, and melodyne
@@notnoaintno5134 I think I found an answer from this article: cdm.link/2024/07/ableton-live-12-1/ It seems you can in fact use it with different tuning systems. And it is mpe-enabled so you could technically even slide the notes to different pitches with midi input. You could even shift your audio from one chord to another seemlessly I believe. I hope that that is the case because that'd be really cool.
When I saw the email about pitch correction i thought we were gonna get like the piano roll sort of thing not a nicer looking version of the crappy M4L plugin we had for ages that is all but unusable
If they made an integrated pitch correction, why would they implement with ARA2? I thought ARA was an interface to interact with third party software 🤔 (like VST)
Please tell me, when switching to another track, the open windows of each track are switched with it, how to leave the Pro Q3 window open on the master and at the same time work with other tracks?
@@Alexander-Tkachenko you can edit this when creating an options.txt file! It’s basically like “hacking” Ableton. Search “options.txt to edit Ableton” or my first “Ableton Secrets” video!
Fruity loops stamp forward with a massiv free update and its amazing too... the Eq'$, stem seper. features alone are so amazing..Bitwig too... Hope so much Ableton can push up the limits of the vanilla devices old Instruments( UI-GUi/ dev.features) fx audio/midi devices & midi clip view live perf.features.. (feat./ perform./ GUI updates)
These are really good updates. I dunno about everyone else but id like to see and update to EQ8? Theres a really cool adaptive EQ in the hybrid reverb. They could implement something like that!
Will, nice summary here. Excited to see these changes come through on the future update. In "Live" mode on Auto Shift, are we looking at 0ms latency as we see with many other native Live effects?
That's awesome. Even AT Pro in live mode is running me 3-5 ms. I've been hunting for plugins that will let me run a near zero monitoring chain for tracking. I have yet to find an 1176 style or LA-2A compression that runs under 5ms so every plugin counts!
@@_0XK1 I know there are a lot of great modulation flexibilities in Bitwig, but outside of that I have not read/seen enough differentiators to make it worth switching. What are your favorite perks of Bitwig? I'll have to revisit it!
fl just makes the cheapest unintelligent updates while ableton just do classy subtle and actually useful stuff , what is something that is actually useful and unique that fl has dropped lol
4:08 because he said there is a second effect in the velocity tab (there is not) fx 1 is the fx setting on the left fx 2 is the fx setting on the right great compact video😎
The beta version is completely different to the alpha release. You must be part of the beta program to have access to this new features but like he said, they probably will be released pretty soon now.
As I understand it, that was fixed in v12.0, altho I’m not sure if there are still a few hoops to jump thru. 99% sure v12.0 improved the situation tho!
Not necessarily. Each .1 update tends to add new devices & workflow improvements through Ableton’s history. We could see new things added to versions 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4 etc.
@@WillHatton nothing new to say, it's a common issue for almost any major DAW now. Minor release - a bunch of plugins. Major release - a bunch of plugins and small tweaks.
@@almazmusic please correct me if i misunderstood you: You are unhappy that technology is still advancing (although slower than what you wished for) even though we are at the most advanced point we've ever been in music production? ANYTHING we get is already a profit my friend, be patient. The plugins and the daw really matter little if you know what you want to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
