It's the end of May and the smallmouth are on beds so I hit the river in my kayak in search of some fatties! It ends up being one of the best days of bass fishing I've ever had!
Amen, Brother! I was just telling our friend here about being on a Weather site that had, like, 11 minutes worth of actual video content...and another 10-11 minutes (At least!!!!!), of worthless commercials that I personally have no use for, nor am I interested in! You and I are DEFINITELY on the same page, when it comes to commercialization!
Its childs play to catch them while they spawn. In some countries its even against the law. A real fisherman would respect the fish, and the future of fishing for all.
Nothing but fishing, action and no BS. Been watching for few years now and I could watch all of them over and over. You should be the TOP fishing channel on YT. Thanks for the content that you put out.
Another great day of fishing 🎣 with some beautiful small mouths. I’m addicted to your show. Relaxing, beautiful scenery, beautiful fish 🐟 and your presentation of each fish is excellent! Please keep up the great work!
wow this brings back childhood memories of fishing with my dad. I always loved small bass fishing the best they fight the entire time. I grew up in western PA. I have not fished in years but after watching a few of your posts makes me want to start fishing again.
If that fishery was in NJ, there would be 15+ kayaks in the water and people lined along the banks. You've got it made in the shade my friend. Totally envious :)
I love the camera angle and the fact I can see the fish eat your bait is amazing, an under rated anglers channel that can actually catch giant bass 🤙🏼💙🇺🇸
i luv this channel, no terrible music and other bs. just pure fishing and the sounds of nature. i also like tactical bassing for theri info. i trust guys that arent tournament anglers haha they arent keeping secrets
Yes!!! I love the long video's because they carry me through a lunch break! I'm going to take you on the offer to come fish with you next year, already saving for a kayak. Keep fishing brother!
Awesome, sounds good man! The first edit of this one was like 45 minutes long lol. I figured I better shorten it down a little bit. It could have easily been an hour long video if I included all the 19”s too!
Next year I'll have to sneak up on a few beds and drop a GoPro down next to them before I try to catch the fish off them. I wish I would have done that with a few of these, I even had an extra GoPro with but I was having so much fun catching them it didn't even cross my mind.
@@ndyakangler I just found your channel and subscribed. I live in the twin cities. I really enjoy your unique take on fishing videos: relaxing and enjoyable, not suspenseful and dramatic. Nice job and keep going because no one else is doing what your're doing!
i cant believe your videos ..you are very lucky ..what a great fishing state,,cant wait till the susquahanna river clears up to start the season... love kayak fishing..
Love the videos! In this vid at the 21:46 mark there is a fish that comes into frame and its HUGE. It was sitting right in front of your yak and may have been the biggest of the day. Keep up the great content!!
You have single handedly boosted North Dakota tourism! I live in Ohio and fish Lake Erie pretty regularly but after watching several of your videos I'm planning a trip to ND! Keep em coming bro!
I do some fishing in ND but most of my videos are shot in MN. I live in Fargo about six blocks from the river that divides the two states. ND has some great fishing but there’s over 1000 lakes and several rivers to pick from within a 90 minute drive on the MN side.
This was my favorite video so far! It was playing on my smart tv and the volume was low. At 10:50-11:10 mark I thought the train sound in the background was a “movie suspense” sound effect that you added until I replayed it!! 😂 I really enjoy the kayak setup walkthrough videos also. Thx!
Matt, if you only knew how blessed you are regarding the amazing fishing that's near you. Sadly Michigan's lakes [and quality rivers], are replete with cottages, homes and the associated PWC, jet skis, speed and ski boats, that have [as a rule], brought the fishing seen on your channel to a halt. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you; and I hope things stay just as they are and better. God bless.
I thought you had added some suspense music trying to catch the one eyed fish. Then I realized it was a train horn! Great video. Love how you let your rod do the work and not just reel them in as fast as possible
Luda_ yanez exactly he actually plays the fish that’s what I do not sure why all the googans hook a fish and just drag it in in 2-3 seconds where’s the fun in that
My wife asked what I was so engrossed in. I told her "fish porn". She gets it. Love your video work! It's always nice when I find a fellow angler who puts his spinning reel handle on the "right" side. 🌞
Nice video! Couple tips - those loaners on beds are males (you keep saying "She"). Also, dip your ruler in water first before measuring, as bass have a slime on their bodies that's part of their immune system and easily gets rubbed off. Smallies will hit a cigarette butt and a hook if it's in their bed. The type of rig is less important as long as it's compact & stays on the bed. They WILL bite every single time. They're much easier to catch on beds than largies are. Sometimes you do have to back-office a bit on a finicky one, but they WILL all bite. They're not like largemouth.
Thanks! I’ll have to bring the scale with this year. I’m hoping to time it out right where I can get them before they drop their eggs and hopefully get a new PB smallie!
That day was as good as it gets. Glad to follow along with your adventures. It's almost Spring here in NJ and I can't wait to get back out on the water and get after those smallies. Almost time to un-winterize the yak...finally!!
30 minutes of NDYakAngler? Hell yea! Just got a kayak this spring and have taken it out 9 times. Boy does it change the game on the locations and total area you can fish! It's a 10ft Ascend. Little small but its a sit on top and is very wide. Has ample space for tackle and I just attached 6 rod holders to my milk crate. Perfect for my needs. Fits in my car, all I have to do is bungee tailgate. Only thing I need for it now is a kayak wheel trailer, a better seat, and a fish finder! Killer video!
That’s awesome you got a kayak! It’s definitely a game changer. The more water I cover the more fish I catch. I hardly ever use the fish finder on mine other than for fall fishing when I need to find some deeper rocks and occasionally fishing weed lines for largemouth. I’ll have to check out your videos when I get done running around tonight!
I've put out a few from the yak so far this year. It won't stop raining in the Mid-Atlantic so the GoPro has been put away a lot. I had a really fun day in my yak on a reservoir an hour north of me 2 weeks ago but the fish catches were spread out over a large time so I didn't have the GoPro recording. I'll be getting the hero 5 shortly so I will be able to replace battery packs and film an entire day of fishing. Also just started a part time job at bass pro shops as fishing sales associate. Iv'e been buying new gear left and right! I leave for my annual upstate NY trip in a few weeks and will be fishing out of my yak and new GoPro, so it will be an awesome series of videos considering all I do up there is throw topwater. Thanks for the reply, if I ever find myself in ND or MN in coming years, I would LOVE to fish with you. I love your style and appreciation to high quality videos to capture the entire adventure in nature!
Nice, I really like the hero 5. The shake reduction is great for when it’s not mounted to something steady. The battery life is much longer than my previous versions too. I was getting both largemouth and smallmouth on topwater this past week in MN, had a blast watching them explode on the Whopper Plopper! If you’re ever in my area get a hold of me and we’ll catch some bass!
I found your channel while longing to go smallie fishing again, waiting for this snow to go away and the opener to get here. I love your laid-back style and showing the fish to your hat-cam! As an aside - through my years of fishing experience, I've come to know that the males are the ones who build and guard their nests. Cheers to more "smallie-thumb" in the future!
@@ndyakangler In the end, nothing is more fun than spending a good day on the river, catching some beautiful smallies (especially on topwater); it doesn't matter if they're male or female. ;-)
I really like your videos. It blows be away that I used to drive right by where you are fishing and I didn't even know about the smallie population there. I would've been fishing it all along had I known.
Ahh, sun shining, birds chirping, trains and ambulance sirens screaming in the background, gotta love the sounds of nature lmao! You sure did crush it in this one, them were some really pretty fish. Awesome video bro!
This guy is a fishing fool - in the very best sense of the expression. I watch his videos whenever they pop up. He always catches nice fish and I always learn something from him every time. This spring video is especially satisfying - 6 twenty inch smallmouth with a backdrop of early colored leaves - accompanied by trilling red-wings and honking geese. It really doesn’t get much better than this.
That was so awesome. I'm a new sub. Love the smallmouth videos. I've been so busy largemouth fishing all spring I have not taken the time to go down the river in the yak for some smallies. After watching a few of your videos that's about to change.
All the comments said the same thing you are blessed to have such a nice River in a quiet place to fish if u were in Massachusetts were im from there would be a hundred Asian people there there'd be no fish left and then water would be polluted like it is in all of the Lakes that you're allowed to fishing only the ones you can't fish in can you catch nice fish like that but you can't use a kayak so it makes it very difficult to fish from land from a lot of those spots you are blessed I like your channel keep it up . Also 1000 Anglers throwing a million different things that all the fish so they seen everything
Yeah that’s pretty much why I don’t even post the name of the river. I’ve had plenty of people gripe at me about it in the comments but they don’t realize how easy it would be for everyone to spend a few minutes on Google maps and find the exact spots I fish and that one post on a high traffic social media page can completely destroy a fishery. I’d like to think that most people are ethical and respectful anglers but there’s always a few that set a bad example. There’s still plenty of poachers around here and people who judge how good a day of fishing was by how many fish they throw in a bucket, and plenty of slobs who don’t know how to pick up after themselves. I’ve had to buy new tires for my trailer a couple times because some moron decides to burn a couch or box spring on one of the primitive launches I use and it’s impossible to pick up every nail and piece of shattered beer bottles they leave behind in the sand.
That's amazing! Friend...you're fishing is blessed sir! I'm thinking the blindness in at least two fish is due to age? My understanding is that those biginz are between 15 and 20 years old. Too great! 😊 The Gospel of John when you're ready.🔥
Good job. Your vids have been really enjoying them. Ordered myself a couple whopper ploppers from amazon after seeing what you were getting in return for using them.
Hay. One of my fav lures to use for bedding smallies is a mini hula popper in black or red. I change the main hook and add a stinger to the back. I know ua don't get many strikes on top eaters with smallies but when ya do its epic. I usually cast a little juicy jig behind it on the short strikers. But after this vid I may try the ol nico wacky rigged. Fish on and keep doing shat ya love.👌👍😊
Great video, my man! I'll make 2 points as to why I love your videos. 1:Quality. You spend a lot of time catching fish, and being helpful in your explanations as to what you're using, and how to use it. 2: Quantity. You catch quite a few big fish, annnd-here's a plus-while you have a few commercials in your content, they don't run for a long time. The reason that I'm bringing this up is because of trying to watch a Weather video on another person's site. His video had so much commercialization, that it almost added up to the time period of his video content! I couldn't believe it! I'm not saying that it's his fault, but to have to put up with, I believe, 10-11 minutes worth of commercials to get something like 11 minutes worth of video just ain't worth it to me! Just as sure as Looney Tunes character Yosemite Sam used to say:"I hates Rabbits", I'm kind of like him, in the sense of:*I hates long commercials"!!! Short videos of 30 seconds or less is one thing. When you have to put up with 1-5 minute long commercials every 2-3 minutes...and the actual video is only 11 minutes long? Forget it!!! (Needless to say, I unsubscribed from his channel)!!! Anyway:Again- great video, and have fun again this year, a'pullin' in them bronze piggies!
I was hoping to get this video up yesterday but it was too dang nice out to sit inside all day! I’m glad I went out though, had a pretty good evening catching some largemouth on the Whopper Plopper.
Me sitting here crying inside cause I want to go get a bait caster and go catch bass on top water all day everday fiahing is my life and I dont get to do it much and it depresses me but watching this vids give me joy and sadness cause i get to watch aswome fishing but can't be apart of it hahahaha
