Not getting it the way I want it to be. Especially if it has a person in it. I'm really, really bad at painting or drawing people. I keep trying ever so often though now. I do love your painting, it is so much better than the picture.
You are a very thoughtful person, so much thinking goes into making as sure as possible, that the end result will be as good as it can possibly be. You most definitely know your stuff!!, being a beginner, these are things that make me say “whaaat?!?!”. This is such a helpful video. Great to learn how to think it through before starting to paint. I’m scared to use a knife, for fear I’ll cut into the paper. I guess I should just practice, but do you have any tips about that? On the thin branches, wouldn’t it be easier to use masking fluid? Are there problems with using a combo of masking fluid and tape? (Too many questions!!)
Questions are great! I have used a combo of masking tape and masking fluid. Masking fluid doesn’t give as clean cut lines. I have cut into the paper several times but it never showed when I painted it. Practicing is a great idea. I practiced on something fun and small before l committed to something important.
I know you said you didn’t want the video to be too long, but on future videos I would love more details about your wet on dry areas. I’m a beginner and feel I learn more from your videos than any others I’ve viewed. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words. I do have other videos where I focused a bit more on the dry on wet part. I also am hoping to do a series for beginners that would be live (no editing at all). I am taking some time to plan for them in hopes that they will be super beneficial series.
Thank you for this demonstration. Do you have a video on how you used tape to mask out the flowers and leaves? I’ve never seen it done that way before.

Yes, I did see the part about cutting around the tape. But how do you get the outline on to the tape in the first place? Also, hoe do you prevent the tape tearing the paper when you lift if off?
@@wistad The drawing is on the paper not on the tape. The tape is slightly see through. I use artists tape and good quality paper so the tape lifts of well without any tearing.
