Maybe you took too long to place in the oven ,maybe the butter started to melt before placed I the oven maybe your oven was not hot enough when placed in it ,this could be possible cause

the banana/caramel ...the rim stuff is not needed..but with all the banana, currant and chocolate.....just dock the bottom (poke holes with a fork in the sauce area) the pastry will be crispy but not puff so much and push filling
