I really respect you as a realtor discouraging leftists from thinking they should move to Idaho. Even though that would mean a temporary monetary gain for you, you're still not willing to sell out your own community. Respect. BTW, I'm from Northern California
Thanks for watching & the comment! We’ve absolutely loved connecting with people considering relocating to Idaho who are arriving (or planning to arrive) with the goal of keeping Idaho the state we know and love! By the sounds of things, Northern California still has some fantastic nooks and areas!
I still live in N CA and was considering the move to Idaho as all my family moved to Meridian back in 2010, however I'm looking elsewhere because of the shockingly high cost change since 2010. As a Californian I feel ashamed knowing we had alot to do with it, but we're being priced out of CA by non native Californians(Non Americans at that).
@@thestratman7903 You certainly aren’t alone, home prices have definitely become a major deterrent. While we have seen prices tick down a little bit, well, they still remain significantly higher than many initially anticipate.
I'm not ruling Idaho out as I like the Boise area, and have family there. I was just a little surprised at how much homes have gone up in the last 10 yrs there. @@Livinginboiseidaho-candid
@@thestratman7903 We love living in the Boise area (we’re 15 minutes from downtown & live in Meridian). Home prices across the valley steadily increased between 2011 & 2019 and then (as I’m sure you know) pretty much skyrocketed during the pandemic. Demand has calmed down a bit here (due largely to rates) but inventory remains very low in comparison which is keeping prices from decreasing as much as would be ideal for most potential homebuyers. If you ever come to the area and would like us to tour you around, we’d be happy to help! 🙂
Since 2018 Idaho’s population has increased - but Idaho has gained 142,976 registered republican voters since 2018 vs only gaining 22,132 registered democrats. This means there are FAR more Republicans moving to Idaho than there are Democrats. Keep speaking up for conservatives ideas & values, because that is who the state is attracting. 🇺🇸
The red states are getting more red and the blue states more blue. I know several people/families that moved from Portland to Idaho and they did not vote blue while in Oregon.
You better look at the people who are in the state government; city officials and county commissioners because they are the ones who are also affecting and making non-freedom decisions.
That's actually not true the state is a tool. It depends on how it's used and who's in charge. It can be used to either strengthen or oppress the people. Libertarianism is poison.
As a Californian who has seen leftist policies destroy CA, I'm glad to see Idaho folks fighting to keep that ideology out. Keep it out. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.
😊 I appreciate your honest video. I'm one of the disgruntled Idahoans with the "new neighbors". I have family in California and have been to Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, all over California and parts of the east coast like Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, and more populated cities while I was an OTR truck driver. Some of things that get under my skin are the growing Democratic pushes for the social changes that are spreading across our country, constant junk mail in my mailbox asking if I want to sell my house, the boom in townhouses and homes where we used to have farm fields and open land, and the cost of living. I'm blessed that I bought a house a few years ago while the market was still below $300,000. I know so many people that can't afford a house and end up in an apartment for $1800+ monthly prices. I changed jobs to make a better income because of the property tax increase. The school bonds and requests for more schools and bigger schools is getting old too. How about we build practical schools thay are reasonably priced and pay our teachers more without raising our tax levels to that of California. I know people that have left California, and it blows my mind how ridiculous the cost of living is down there. Let's try to stop making Idaho unaffordable for the locals.
Thank you for the comment! You are absolutely not alone, our housing costs alone have pushed many born and raised Idahoans out of the state. We are not native Idahoans but we’ve now been here for almost 20 years.
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid My grandpa was born in Southeast Idaho and while he was serving in the Marines down in California, he met and married my grandma. They lived down there near San Bernardino until they moved back to Idaho back in the 70's. My mom, aunts, and uncle were all born down in California. The Idaho and California relationship has been going on for decades ☺️ Both Idaho and California have changed a lot in the last 10 years. I think the change has just been so drastic and uncomfortable for native Idahoans lately. Some sweet older ladies were visiting from Redding, CA during COVID and running a booth at the fair a few years ago. They said they were astonished how Idaho didn't seem to give a poop about the mandated masking and most people they met were warm hearted. That's the Idaho most Idahoans like. Being kind to others and minimize government control on everyone. Farmers, LDS, rednecks as my cousins like to call themselves, and a wide range of other groups of people all getting along and living amongst each other.
This is happening in many states people are coming and going for various reasons .I'm moving from California to North Carolina in 2 weeks ,but my goal is to move out of the United States in about 5 years from now.
Native Texan here. What scares us the most are the people moving here that will vote the same way they did in the poop holes they lived in before. We are worried they are gonna F up our Texas.

I’m not sure where you’re located in the Texas area, but using this interactive map has been really interesting for us to get a handle on what’s really happening (at the poll booth anyhow) here in Idaho (well, those areas that are experiencing the most growth anyhow). Michael, you are Absolutely Right to be concerned about folks moving into you area, To get away from Stuff that they disliked, but once arriving in your area, they set about Voting and advocating or the Exact Same Crap they left their prior home. I moved to southern Oregon in the early 80s and Fell In Love with just about everything. The People, The Hunting, The Fishing and a Decidedly "Live & Let Live" Mindset. I settled in a town of less than 3000 people and opened, what turned out to be a successful Business after a couple of years. I was Set and Happy......Then the folks "Leaving California for a better life" came flooding into the area. This was fine, because "Silly Me"I thought they'd do like I did and "Adapt" to that life & life style.......But No! They set about voting in the exact same Nonsense they had Fled when they moved out of California......Fast Forward to Today and the Rotten Mess That Is Now Oregon. I was Lucky in my "Bad Luck", because I ha "Family Land" back home in Georgia, that I could count on being there if I needed it. In 2000 I "Needed" that Land. I Bailed On Oregon that year and came back "Home" to Georgia and settled on my Family Farm, where I still live today. I Loved Oregon(And the entire North West), and it saddened me Greatly to say Goodbye to so much of what I loved, but it was the right decision at the right time. Seeing the "News Reports" about the shenanigans that are now Normal in Oregon, saddens me Greatly, but I'm 73 and know that in my lifetime things in Oregon will never go back to what I loved so much during the almost 20 years I lived there. Be wise in your Actions, Stances, Associations and Most Of All Your Voting Habits. I can tell you from Personal Experience, that Once You Lose It, the chances of ever regaining what you Lost are Practically ZERO. I landed safely back in Georgia and live in my old "Home PLace" with enough acreage to Hunt as I please, and surrounded by Horses and Dogs, and Peace(For the most part), but there are still folks who are desperately Trying To Destroy our way of life, and they'll always be here in Georgia, Out in California, Oregon and elsewhere. My Father told me Decades Ago, that "You have to Work Like Hell To Have Something, and then Work Like Hell For The Rest Of Your Life, To Keep It".....Every Year, I find out Just How Right He Was. I wish only the Very Best For You And Yorn, along a Whole Bunch Of Luck, because Podnah, You're Gonna Need It.(We All Will)
Yes, it's happening in Idaho also. That's one of our complaints from native Idahoans....is the garbage that people bring with them when they move here. No surprisingly, we have been a Republican State historically, but the cheating took place by Dems. This is exactly why I would love to petition our State to close the gates. A bunch of people need to move and take their trash with them.
If you live in SE Idaho the number one reason you leave or want to leave is either A. The brutal winter. Or B. The wind. Treasure Valley is nothng like the rest of Idaho. Boise winters ate a cake walk, it has the perfect mix of 4 seasons.
Nope, i retired and stayed put in California.. sold and leased instead.. i move around the state as i choose.. did i buy again? Yes, but not in the states. I bought in Malaga, Spain which i use as i please.. the rest of the time its ABnB which brings in 300 bucks per night in dollars. Love it...

I'm a Californian but would have liked to moved to North Idaho especially during the 80's-90's when a friend of mine moved there. Due to family obligations I could not. I still yearn for the Idaho living especially in the Northern part where the outdoors is available to everyone there. I was fortunate enough to visit Idaho many times to visit my friend and enjoy the best outdoors I've experienced. I just hope that those that are moving into the state of Idaho keep the state red and not try and change things. Idaho is fine the way it is........
Thanks for watching & commenting! And we completely agree, Idaho’s incredible ray outdoor recreation is pretty hard to beat! It was one of the key reasons we moved here from Oregon 16 years ago. Thanks for watching!
Cold weather is why I never had Idaho on my list of places to move to. Ended up in Florida and it might be too cold here in winter so Idaho is out of the question
Thank you for the comment! We definitely do experience all four seasons here in the Gem state. That said, in the Treasure Valley area (where my family and I live) our winters are typically far more mild than most initially expect. That said, up in the northern section of Idaho, YES - you can count on having snow - and likely a LOT of it! I hope Florida is treating you well! My sister and her family lived in Ponte Vedra for awhile and I sure did love visiting them! Oddly enough, they now actually live in Sandpoint, Idaho (which I also love visiting... but not in the winter time). :)
If I was not so averse to the cold then Idaho would be perfect for me. I like 4 seasons because I love spring and without winter there is no spring so I found that North Florida has a very short winter and I get my spring. Idaho culture is likely 10 times better than Florida but I grew up near the Canadian Border and never again will I live where it snows.

I live in the foothills of California. I have checked the property tax rates in Idaho, Texas and Florida. Income rates and payrate. Also insurance rates. No disrespect if you hate California just stay out and I will stay out of your states. That is fair no need for name calling.

Don't you find it ironic that despite CA having one of the highest sales taxes, income taxes, gasoline taxes, highest power rates, etc, but somehow their property tax rates are low? I predict Prop 13 will be repealed in 10-20 years and I can't wait for that to happen. Gas cars will be outlawed in a few more years so no more gas tax revenues. You can bet the CA teachers unions will be totally for this repeal so they can get more funds for schools while providing low student test scores in return. Dems will need an extra new source of funding in tax revenues to make up for the lack of gas taxes in the near future. Also, haven't you seen the increases in your car and home insurance premiums rates as well as more and more insurers just leaving CA? LOL!
Born & graduated collage in Laramie, Wyoming. Remember when it snowed the first week of September and some students were shocked. Yes, we had winters North Idaho is mild but winter is a fact of life.
Really glad you mentioned the cold/snow in north idaho. Grew up here for 25years. Honestly its very cold to live here 5/12 months. If you cant drive on ice and snow stay clear from Coeur d alene Idaho.

People don’t realize that there are a lot of republicans that live in California believe it or not. So don’t assume just because someone that moves from Cali is suddenly a democrat. More often than not, they just as politically aligned with your party as you are.
Very true. Almost ALL of the current relocation couples, families and people who reach out to us who currently live in CA are fully “political refugees”… CA is a mess.

You have given people a lot of thought. And you have probably helped a lot of people from making the "mistake" of moving to Idaho. But on the other hand, you are pretty much insuring that the people who view your video will know what they are getting into, and will probably be happy in your state. Thanks!
Grew up in Idaho, registered Republican, same with my family. But read all the bigotry and hate in the comments. I think it's a good representation of what Idaho has become within the last 10 years, so we're all leaving Idaho for someplace that can respect people for being fellow human beings on the same planet. Plus the smoke, yeah it gets worse every year.
Thank you for the comment. Curious, as Republicans, who are looking for “someplace that can respect people for being human beings” where are you guys headed? I mean this comment with no ill-will or negative intent, I’m just truly curious where you’re going?
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid We're still looking and traveling around to find this magical place :) I have a spreadsheet with criteria lol, and have a few top contenders, but it takes time to spend time with the people in the place where we might live. Sorry I don't have a better answer right now. But we do know we can't raise our kids here in the the current environment. I will say some of the criteria are environmental factors (especially air quality), school systems (another reason to stay away from Idaho), and of course the politics. We're looking for purple'ish', hopefully where opposing opinions can be debated and respected. It may sound silly, but we've found the ratio of trump flags to American flags to be a good indicator. Unfortunately we're finding we don't quite fit into the new Republican party mold anymore, and with some of our conservative values, we don't really fit into the Democratic party mold ... and it feels now where ever we choose to live is like choosing a side ...
They are leaving because they cannot afford $700,000 for a 1200 sq ft old home. Look at the homes in Scottdale Arizona, old 1200 sq ft homes with no garage, just a carport $600-$700,000
Housing prices are absolutely a major pain point for many. And while we are seeing price tick downward slightly, they haven’t come down nearly enough for many. It’s a hard time for first-time home buyers in particular.
Yikes, I hope not! It’s never gotten that cold here in the Boise Idaho area (well not since we moved here almost 16 years ago). But if you’re in North Idaho, maybe!
3:05 That's Downtown Los Angeles. The specific image is of the 110 going southbound toward the 10 at about sunset. That's a couple miles from the 101. Right by the Staple Center. That whole stretch is packed during the day every weekday. The only time I seem to hit 65 mph is on weekends after midnight. In Los Angeles we measure trips by time, not distance. Getting from one part of the city to another costs a significant portion of your day. And then you have to get back which will cost the same amount of time. Even going six miles can take 45 minutes if you go at the wrong time of day. Trips are not taken lightly here.
I'm a fourth generation Idaho'an that left in 2003. While I still go back quite often (next month) and love the area, the reason I left was lack of opportunities and the wages to cost ratio. When I graduated high school in 1993 in the Treasure Valley, if you made $7.00 an hour, you were doing good. There are plenty of people I know who still make $12.00 an hour in Idaho in 2023. While I only moved five hours away (Salt Lake), there are way more educational and job opportunities for not only myself, but for my children. I also attended a Tier 1 research University that has a law, medical, and architectural school. There is none of this in at least the Boise area. And while the politics maybe be somewhat similar, there seems to be a higher emphasis on elementary education than in Idaho (at least in our Charter school). Most of my friends that went to BSU or UofI have moved away to Denver, San Diego, Seattle, ect. All with great jobs. Side note- The outdoors in Idaho is off the charts top notch
Thank you for the comment! A lot in there that I want to respond to. Your situation (and reason for leaving back in 2003) is (as you know all too well) unfortunately a very common one here. It's so hard seeing born and raised Idahoans hurt by the large cost to wage disparity we're experiencing. And thus far, nothing seems to be changing here too quickly. While we have definitely seen an uptick in tech jobs in the downtown area (and of course with Micron & HP) - both tech and medical job opportunities aren't as easy to come by here. And that's interesting to hear about the elementary schools in Salt Lake, I hadn't heard that before. Both of my boys are currently in public West Ada schools here - and we have had nothing but great experiences. That said, we certainly know people whose children also attend different schools within the West Ada district who feel differently. And then yes, our outdoor recreation is pretty hard to beat. My husband Andy is a lifelong and avid outdoorsman and hunter. Having everything so close to home is definitely a highlight of calling the Treasure Valley home for us. Thank you again for the comment!
DITTO! Idahoans are conservative. They always do the right things to protect their own and their territory. This is something I love. The world has gone too selfish and too greedy, ....crazy...dangerous.
Based on the last two presidential elections the city of Boise has grown increasingly bluer. Interestingly, at the same time, its surrounding cities have actually grown redder and more conservative.
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid thanks fir your reply. Hopefully voters there can stay vigilant. Looking out for activist judges, DAs, and other elected officials moving in to try and impose unwanted change. Love your videos.
Boise prices are headed down. Stats from the MLS may lag but you can see it now on Zillow and Redfin. Price reductions are picking up weekly. Real Estate markets move slowly then suddenly and exponentially. Happened that way last time. The news last time was the crash happened in 2008. Actually, it didn’t affect Idaho until around 2010. Then it hit big. 40-60% fall in prices. Most think unemployment will be the accelerating catalyst as well as student loans, remote work reversal and overall recession. Consensus is sometime in mid 2024. You can buy now if you don’t care but if you do, don’t count on being able to refi if rates go down, because if rates go down it’s for a reason an values will most likely be lower and most buyers today will then be underwater on their mortgage. Discussion and planning for likely scenarios such as this are what buyers should expect from their real estate professionals. Otherwise, why not simply use a real estate attorney and negotiate a low $3000-$5000 dollar commission for the flat fee buyers agent representing them by simply opening listing doors, submitting offers and arranging for inspections with contingencies? This is a sellers market now so don’t pay thousands too much to a seller or especially your agent.
Thanks for the comment. You are correct about home prices ticking downward across the valley. And we are seeing more price reductions across all price points. The shift we are currently seeing in the market is completely different than the housing crash we experienced back in 2008, which was largely due to signficant issues in the mortgage/lending sector. As a non-disclosure state, the information that is posted on Zillow and Redfin is actually not as reliable as what our local MLS shows and provides (as those source only pull the LIST price for homes (not the actual agreed upon SALES price)). In this market, working with a knowledgeable and experienced agent is incredibly beneficial to both buyers and sellers. And thankfully there are a large number of GREAT agents across the valley (as well as - just like any occupation - some not so great ones).
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candidyes as a non disclosure state Idaho transaction prices do not have to be published on any database. However, price reductions on unsold listings are public and are currently documented on Zillow and all online market aggregators. Keeping track of sold prices using the mls is pointless as Idaho is a non disclosure state as you say. To determine or track the direction of the local housing market, you must track a sample of listings. Sometimes even recording the previous prices as sellers pull and relist their property to “clean and refresh” the stale listing. “Days on market” is another very telling metric that can be tracked in real time on Zillow or Redfin. When average days on market climbs to months rather than weeks we have transitioned from a sellers market to a buyers market regardless of supply. This what buyers need to watch as it predicts sales price trends more closely than any other forward looking metric. The crash in 2008 -2011, started as a liquidity crises when derivatives crushed lending institutions and then the insurance entities backing them. The same systemic threat exists today for banks due to different reasons (rapidly rising interest rates causing a liquidity crisis at many of the banks holding both commercial and residential mortgage notes, especially small regional banks in Idaho). But what eventually caused the crash in Idaho markets around 2010 wasn’t the systemic crisis the happened in 2008 with Lieman or AIG, it was the unemployment that arose from the crisis and peaked in 2010 in Idaho. Sound similar to today? Delineation without a difference. Last week unemployment rose for the first time since Covid. It’s happening again, just for different reasons. Maybe not 40-60% down, but I believe the impending recession and subsequent unemployment will bring down the Boise market by 20-30% by 2025.
Thanks for the question! Winter inversions in Utah Valley and the Treasure Valley share similarities due to their topography & geographical features. That said, Utah Valley tends to experience them a bit more frequently over the course of the typical winter that what we see here in the Treasure Valley. And due to population size and pollutants, inversions in UT tend to be harder on susceptible populations.

Idaho has a lot of diverse areas. Heavily Mormon populated around Boise , with a massive influx of tech from Silicon Valley. Rural Idaho is about family and tradition and conservative values. Blaine county is the only liberal county and one of the wealthiest areas of the USA. It’s also home to many Olympic athletes and some of the best skiing and mountain biking in the country. Northern Idaho is well… northern Idaho. It’s beautiful and if you’re into the outdoors and fishing and hunting, it’s an outdoorsman’s heaven.
Blaine County is full left is due to Californians and Ada county is leaning that way because of Californians. They are coming here in droves. One aspect that’s very annoying as all of those people feel like every time they get in a car it’s a race.
@sweetdrahthaar7951 Thanks for the comment! And while Boise is now blue (and far bluer than we ever thought we’d see), Ada County as a whole is still very much red. Eagle, Meridian, Star & Kuna are still quite strongly red.

I have lived in Idaho for many many years, and the influx of many people bring their attitudes with them. First time in history that we actually have cheating at our polls last election. We also encounter many who bring their attitudes with them. Then housing is crazy....big houses going up and 2 years later abandoned. Why? Because these people moving in don't like all of the snow. Before they destroy all of our land, why don't they do their research before moving here? I loved Idaho before this influx....now just another branch of what these people these people were running away from!

My sister lives in Sandpoint and we have several friends in the Coeur d’Alene area. Beautiful country for sure - and you shouldn’t have water problems there either (or unbearable heat)! Thanks for commenting.
Idaho does not have a transfer on death deed. How do parents pass their home to their child(ren) after they pass? Can one designate a beneficiary on the title?
Thanks for your comment! You're correct that Idaho doesn't have a transfer on death (TOD) deed. However, parents can pass their home to their children in several other ways. One common method is through a will, where they specify the distribution of their assets, including the home. Another option is setting up a living trust, which can help avoid probate and directly transfer the property to the beneficiaries. Additionally, they might consider joint tenancy with right of survivorship, where the property automatically passes to the surviving owner(s) upon death. Great question!
To many escape California and other big cities to get away from what is ruining those places but so many bring those ideas with them and try to turn those smaller conservative areas into the mess that they left. Sure happened to Central Oregon.
I moved to Twin Falls at the end of May 2023. Sold my CA home as my biz had died and needed to access the equity in my home. Love the politics of Idoho, owned two rental houses in Twin and one of my renters bought a house, so I had somewhere to land. I came from an affluent county in CA. When I arrived here I found the food prices in Twin to be astronomical compared to what I was used to. Minimally, 30% higher. Just to be fair, the utility costs are much lower as are auto licensing, and biz costs. I also observed a lack of available wholesome organic food. During my first few weeks here I must have gone to 6 grocery stores including two farm markets. I also observed an overwhelming number of people in Twin Falls being obese and overweight. I hate to be critical but when I see a beautiful mom with 3 kids in tow and she got an extra 100 on her, it's almost heartbreaking. CA has been ruined by the idiot politicians but at least we know how to eat right and exercise. The weather here to me is a nightmare. We had a FLASH storm in the spring: lightning, thunder, hail, rain, and 2 inches of water on my patio and driveway in 7 minutes. Scarry! Last week we had a wind storm that blew my gates open, and both my dogs got out, but luckily I got them back inside safely and quickly. A week ago, 1 ft of snow in 24 hours, do you need to hear more? I have purchased a house in Eastern WA state and I will be leaving this town and never looking back in 3 days.
Sorry to hear about your experience living in Twin. It’s definitely a “small” town experience compared to CA. Hope your next chapter in eastern WA is better.
Natives displaced by outsiders. Happened in Colorado (Calirado) first, now the other western states. Wonder what happens when California empties out? The cycle starts again?
You are 100% right, the number of hopeful first-time homebuyers we have who were born and raised here in Idaho is hard. Our housing market is nothing short of “difficult”!

Great video. Regarding the challenges caused by growing population faced by Idahoans these days…I sure do sympathize. I grew up in Morgan Hill, California in the fifties and sixties…it was truly a Mayberry flavored slice of heaven…about 3,000 people living, farming, ranching and small-town living. It boomed. Now it’s a suburb of Silicon Valley and it’s unlivable for someone like me. That frog is hard boiled. I lived for awhile in the Sierra Foothills and that was great, but still part of California. Then I met and married a Reno girl just before THAT area boomed. We live outside of Reno (she’s been there since 1970). I’m typing this from our remote ranch in Idaho. I hope to die before Idaho turns into what I’ve seen happen elsewhere. This is something special…PLEASE…if you find this boring or limiting in some way…PLEASE..stay where you are and work to make it better THERE. Don’t be part of a flood of raw sewerage that destroys what folks here love and respect. You have everything you cherish right there in your cities…leave Idaho alone.
My biggest gripe about idaho is the car centric design of the towns / cities. Most of the cities are small enough where those living in them can bike / walk most places in a reasonable amount of time. But the lack of safe infrastructure makes even the shortest of trips dangerous, which is extremely disappointing
Thanks for the comment. The greenbelt certainly helps to add to the walkability and biker-friendly vibe, so thank heavens for that. And while I know a lot of people who happily (and usually rather pridefully) bike to their downtown jobs on the regular, I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable “sharing the road”’in BoDo - but many certainly do! When we first moved to Boise, I worked on 8th street in downtown and would bike along the greenbelt from my apartment and then walk my bike down a few blocks to my office. I’ve never been one to enjoy biking right next to cars… Different strokes and all that, right? Thanks for the comment.
Totally respect that! We have a video all about our gun rights here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b2r1gX2tidE.htmlsi=P9qDUR3Q-xfqY3Kh
Uhmm? I was raised in Missouri and after being in the military for thirty years wanted to live somewhere without the humidity and insects of the Midwest and we retired to Idaho Falls and have been here thirty years. When the Realtor handed us the keys he said " I forgot to tell you one thing, set your watch back fifty years" and he wasn't kidding. You would have to go to southern Missouri or Mississippi to find people more ignorant or intolerant. We greatly enjoy the summers and tolerate the winters and mostly keep to ourselves as we are secular types. Best of luck to all of us.
Thanks for your service! And for watching & commenting. Sorry to hear that’s been your experience with people living here in Idaho. We live Meridian and have had a very different experience.
Love North Idaho! My sister and her family live in Sandpoint and it’s one of our favorite places within Idaho to visit. The winters up there are the only thing that I think would be challenge for us - but I’m sure, like all place, you adjust, right?! It’s a beautiful place to live. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for watching & commenting. Full disclosure - I’ve never lived in Arizona but during visits, there have been times it reminded me a bit of California’s Mediterranean climate - not exactly of course (with Arizona being landlocked and all, ha) - but that’s what I was referring to. And in comparison to Idaho - well, it’s very different!
Idaho as a whole is definitely still a very conservative state. That said, the city of Boise has grown bluer over the past decade. While its neighboring towns like Meridian, Eagle and Kuna have actually all gotten redder (my family and I live in Meridian, which borders Boise). It’s quite interesting to look at political maps.
Lol! I’ve actually been surprised that no one has asked about that yet. He tried to burn the toilet paper and well, he ended up burning a heck of a lot more than just that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Traffic on I-90 between CdA and Spokane can be as bad as any large city with traffic backed up 30miles when theres an accidents. Its extremely crowded and traffic is badly managed in coeur d alene.
I was mainly talking about the area of Idaho we’re located in (Boise). CDA is about 400 miles north of us. But you’re right, Silverwood is quite the park.
Thanks for watching and the comment. We’ve lived here for almost 20 years and have never seen a rattlesnake out in the wild. That said, we certainly know they’re there in Idaho - just not that many in the Treasure Valley or the various areas that we camp at throughout the summer. But then again, we try to avoid areas that they might be in because my seven-year-old son absolutely loves snakes!
Thanks for the comment! For what it’s worth, the VAST majority of people we’re seeing move to Idaho (or at least to the Treasure Valley) are arriving here with a steadfast determination to not turn Idaho into the states they fled from. Most areas (other than downtown Boise) are getting increasingly redder. Appreciate the view and comment!
Thanks for the question! We have been very happy with the schools here. We live in Meridian (right outside of Boise) and our two boys are both in the West Ada School District, which is Idaho’s largest school district. We’ve had a great experience! There are also a number of private options, public and charter schools, magnet schools, etc. And then as far as accessibility goes, I would say that even in the busiest areas of the state of Idaho (such as where we are in the Boise area) schools are incredibly easy to get to and readily accessible. That said, it’s all relative to where you’re coming from and therefore what you’re comparing it to, right?! Across the board though, the vast majority of families we’ve helped relocate here with school-age children have been very happy with what they’ve found. Thanks again for the comment!
Thanks for the comment. As a strongly conservative state, starting wages here in Idaho are indeed lower (and sometimes significantly lower for those moving states such as CA). That said, we do not have the lowest in the country - but we do have relatively high housing prices. No doubt about that. Anyhow, thanks for the comment!🙂
Lol! I was wondering how long it would take someone to point that out! My husband teased me relentlessly about that darn section… but well, I was done filming & decided to just leave it. 😂 My apologies.😅
I hope more people leave Idaho so property will go down LOL. The property in Post Falls is more then the properties in WA, I'm literally 10 miles away. But a lot of people who like their constitutions are moving to Idaho, MT ect...
Visited the Boise area a couple of years ago and thought it was great. Hope to visit often but not in the summer. Didn’t realize it got so hot there in the summer. And property taxes are going through the roof. No Prop 13 like in California.
Thanks for watching. I’m surprised to hear you think our property taxes are high. We almost never hear that. Typically, from people moving here or visiting from out-of-state, we hear complete opposite. In Meridian, which is a suburb right outside of Boise our current tax levy rate is .53%, which is very, very reasonable. And then for Boise the average levy rate is also well below 1%.
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid Fair enough. That’s not bad. My impression was anecdotal from friends who have moved there. They must have been spoiled by their Prop 13 when they lived in CA.
Not every conservative worships Trump. The whole Maga movement is a huge turn off to most in our circle. Comments like this is exactly the opposite of love and unity.
You nailed it on those winters. Idaho is paradise 6 months of the year and so cold i cant stand it the other 6 months. Be great to own property there for 6 months on and six months off. And i wish it has a coastline for an ocean. If i could id live in fl 6 months and Idaho 6 months back and forth
Thanks for the comment! I too miss the ocean. I really don’t mind our winters here in southern Idaho, that said I grew up in eastern Oregon with four distinct seasons and love that change - but I can also see the appeal of being a snowbird and bouncing to a warmer area come winter time. We have quite a number of clients who do just that, and they love it!
@hannibalthe1st565 Great question! And that is actually a VERY difficult one to answer, as there are so many incredible areas and hidden gems across the state. My family and I are big campers (or rather, because let’s be honest “glampers” with our RV). And while every summer we return to our favorite hotspots, we always try to add in a couple new areas that we have never been to… I’ve now lost count of how many times we’ve turned to each other and said “We could totally live here!” If my husband and I were in a different phase of life (and we didn’t have work and our kiddos were out of the house) we absolutely adore both Garden Valley and Cascade… but you know, if you ask me this again in a month, I might just respond with two other areas - Idaho is a BIG (& fabulous) state. To really hone in on the best spot for YOU, give us a call or shoot us an email sometime - we’d be happy to chat with you!📱208-598-3040
If you haven’t been there don’t move there! I love Idaho! Especially the sawtooth mountains! I want a small farm next to the mountains so I could do a guide service! I was on a hunt and it was great!
Thanks for the view & comment (and I love living in Idaho too - it’s not for everyone, but for people like us it’s perfect, right!? 🙌). Thanks again for the comment! 🙂
