One of my pigs always bites and pulls my shirt (actually taking his time finding it in between the blankets) whenever he gets fed up of me and wants to go back to the cage 😂

One of our piggies bit quite often at first. She would just chomp down on whatever was in front of her face, fingers included; sometimes drawing blood. Eventually she seemed to work out fingers weren't veggies and it wasn't a problem anymore. All of our girls gently nibbled as a way of communicating with us, mostly when they'd had enough cuddles. Didn't hurt; it was just to get attention.

When I had a guinea pig, I'd carry him back to his hutch and he'd always grip my shirt on my shoulder with his teeth. He never tried to bite me, but he pulled it three times, kinda like you'd expect a child to do when they tell you they're not tired and are trying to let you know they want to stay up longer. I don't really know what it meant or if he was trying to tell me something. Any ideas on that? Oh, and the part on them wanting to go pee somewhere is true - mine used to curl up on my back and watch videos with me on my laptop, but he used to hop down when he wanted to go for a wee. If I put him back up and he continued to hop off, then I knew it was inevitable. I miss that pig.
Hi piggie people! To add on to the hand washing point: my piggies Oliver and Nicky used to occasionally bite my hand when they were babies and I never understood why! It just seemed to come out of nowhere! Well, we have our dog, Fudgey, and I would unknowingly hold my piggies after feeding him/giving him love, attention, and cuddles! Needless to say, OF COURSE, they bit my hand out of fear because they smelled like our doggo! But I think it’s just a good habit to get into: to wash hands before and after holding our sweet piggies! Now my babies don’t bite anymore and I don’t run the risk of cross-contamination etc! Both piggies and doggo are happy again!
bites can be kind of dangerous if you dont wash the wound correctly due to their habits of eating their own poops. If you don’t wash the wound you can get an infection but you will most likely not die.

Reason 4b: Your guinea pig nipped on your sweater once and then you put them back in their cage, now they learned that that's a quick way to get you to put them back so now you have tiny holes on the exact same spot in EVERY SWEATER! Gotta love em

Our guinea pig bite me hard, drawing blood and hurting really bad! He keeps doing it. No matter how we hold it. Wrapped in a cozy blanket on my lap, etc and he still finds my hand and bites it hard!

i got one recently maybe 2 days ago, and i’ve never had one, she bit my friend and it somewhat started bleeding, she doenst run when i try to pick her up now but she does bite me when i have her on my hands and pet her, i’ll be sure to use these tips, thank you :)
That second reason happened to my brother with our guinea pig. His hands smelled like watermelon while he was holding him. My brother accidentally dropped him and broke his teeth. We had to feed him ground up food until his teeth grew back.
Guinea pigs can also nip you if you touch them in places where they do not want to be touched and if you have been touching or stroking them for long enough and they want you to stop.

I got bitten only 2 weeks ago, I nearly died due to blood poisoning. Scruffy had died over night and when I came to lift him out sam who was sitting next to him bite me so I had lifted scruffy and had sam attached to my hand. I was on a IV line in the emergency care unit of hospital for 3 days straight. First time in 13 years I've had a guniea pig bite me so was an extreme rear case but still is serious and THEY DO BITE.

mine bites just to bite mine has anger issues for no reason i clean his cage he bites i feed or put him in a ball he happy but cuddle time is hell no never nope bites
Something that I learned is that you also cannot surprise them with your hand. If they happen to turn and see it unexpectedly it's the same story as cornering them. They'll feel threatened and then nip at you.
My guniea bear bites me only when i pat him near his tummy or when he sees the dog he bites me but he bites then licks my hand to say sorry lol he is very nice and loving piggy and loves his food and cuddles! 🐹
i have 2 males and one of them sits on my chest licking my lips my noise my chin and my cheeks he loves me but the other one lucky he's bit me 2 times drawing blood he bit me on my index finger sank his teeth into my finger then wouldnt let go i dont know what happend i was holding him he was calm and sleepy i went to put him back in his cage and he just went for me i still cant feel the tip of my finger he bit so hard he damaged me nerves he's calmed down a bit since then but we restrain from holding him anymore we bring them out together so they dont bicker and fall out im going to take him to the vet and see if hes in pain or has something wrong with him if they say he's all good i guess he's just a grumpy piggie and we will just have to not let children around him thank you for the advice and awesome video.
I dont know why i laughed out loud when you said they're rodents. Yes agree the i gotta go potty nibbles are very helpful.... Amazing how much comes out of something so little 😊
my guinia pig tricks me kiri licks me then takes the bigist chomp out of my finger it bleeds at that point but you cant judge her shes only a little baby she likes the salt in my finger

Guinea pigs are supposed to like being scratched on their chin... But Coco hates it. He very rarely bites, he's a very sweet guinea pig; but.. he may if you touch his chin.
