The over whelming reception of Ruger's Gunsite Scout Rifle prompted us to put together an introductory video series on how to properly train with this versatile tool. So we went to the birthplace of the Scout Rifle and teamed up with Gunsite Range Master Il Ling New, an expert in long gun training, to bring you a series packed with useful information on how you can get the best out of your Ruger® Gunsite Scout Rifle.
In this episode Il Ling demonstrates how to efficiently switch out magazines.

Yikes, that's complicated. It would be fine on a range but in the reality contest when you need rounds immediately you drop the mag and insert the fresh one.

This is more of an admin reload than a combat/high stress/speed reload, hence her not dropping or throwing the mag away.

I wonder if its easier to use other techniques when you have a weapon which mags have to be insterted in an angle like here. You make the same amount of hand movements if you just take the mag out and put it in to your dummy pouch, take a new mag from a holster when you hand is in that area and instert the mag in to you gun. This lets you to do the loading action quicker too and you dont have to brake your fingers. Im not an expert or anything but thats looks overcomplicated.

This is a very effective reloading or “topping off” technique. You maintain control over your mags and with practice, very smooth… also effective with handgun reload. Remember this is a topping off reload…In a “gunfight” you would use a different technique to drop the mag and reload before it hits the deck.

I prefer Ruger's smaller polymer mags for this rifle.

I love Ruger and I own several. This reloading technique, however, seems to have the fresh mag in a very unsecure position as it comes up to the gun. In a high stress situation, I see this technique being very difficult to carry through effectively without dropping the mag. Just my .02.

This is a modern reload for an "ancient" style of rifle which is why it is so funky. In the tacticool world, this is an admin reload. You have all the time in the world to reload your gun but you're still trying to be as efficient as possible with your reload. While everyone uses weakhand reloads, she uses strong hand presumably for less movements needed. Ultimately, it really is a worthless reload that requires a lot of precision. Again, you have all the time in the world to reload, you don't have to be super efficient with your movements. Under a stress full situation, look at the various AK emergency reloads. Using your new mag to kick out the old. Thumbing the old mag away.

wouldn't a powerful cartridge like the 308 perform better with a longer (maybe 18 inches) barrel?? Does the GSSR have 1in9 or 1in7 rifling??
@evo3bro

they do have it in 18 inches?

No 308 is very insensitive to barrel length 18 to 16 would be only 50 fps difference
