Having been in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a year, I learned the best way to heal my childhood trauma is to speak to myself like I'm the loving parent I needed. Things like "I deserve better". It's about having a healthy inner voice.

During Covid lockdown I saw a therapist over zoom, to deal with my depression since high school. Back then I almost attempted suicide multiple times due to my friends since 6th grade turning on me and bullying me. My therapist had me speak my feelings out loud, something I never did. The results were VERY freeing and helpful. I still think about the past and often think one day I’ll have to confront those who hurt me again, but I feel I’ll be smarter about it now.

Speak out loud was the key for my success in therapy to treat anxiety, it was like everytime I said something it was a burden release or a realization about something.

Awesome video! Here are some additional signs that your inner child is healing: 1. Emotional Awareness: You become more aware of your emotions, recognizing when you're triggered and understanding the underlying reasons behind your reactions. 2. Self-Compassion: You show more compassion towards yourself, treating yourself with kindness and forgiveness rather than self-criticism. 3. Playfulness: You find joy in simple activities and allow yourself to have fun without the fear of judgment. 4. Healthy Boundaries: You set and maintain healthy boundaries in your relationships, ensuring your needs are respected and you're not compromising your well-being. 5. Emotional Expression: You feel more comfortable expressing your feelings and needs to others, allowing yourself to be vulnerable and authentic. 6. Nurturing Self-Care: You prioritize self-care and take actions that nurture your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. 7. Reparenting Yourself: You start providing yourself with the care, love, and guidance you may have missed during your childhood. 8. Reduced Shame: The shame and guilt associated with past experiences start to diminish as you understand that they don't define your worth. 9. Inner Joy: You experience moments of genuine happiness and contentment that come from within, rather than relying solely on external sources. 10. Healing Past Wounds: You actively work through unresolved childhood issues and traumas, seeking therapy or support as needed. 11. Increased Creativity: Your creativity flourishes as you give yourself permission to explore new hobbies, activities, and ways of expressing yourself. 12. Improved Relationships: Your relationships become healthier as you communicate more openly, trust more deeply, and connect on a more authentic level. 13. Resilience: You're better equipped to handle challenges and setbacks without becoming overwhelmed by negative emotions. 14. Empathy for Yourself: You develop a sense of understanding and empathy towards your younger self, recognizing the challenges you faced and showing yourself kindness. 15. Less People-Pleasing: You reduce the tendency to seek validation from others and prioritize your own needs and desires. Healing is a gradual process, and everyone's journey is unique. It's important to be patient with yourself.

I feel this video so much. It has been such a relief and positive to heal my Inner Child. A lot of these are _very_ familiar to me. My trauma was mostly neglect and the negative emotions and withdrawal due to that. It was bad, but having therapy and doing work on myself for years has helped immensely.

As someone who had social and general anxiety, autism signs and past traumas (sadly all undiagnosed), psychologically abusive family and suffered from high malnutrition and burnout, my life was at the bottom. But. Many things including this channel allowed me to get more educated on psychology and social concepts I never learned in my youth. After having a self-help class at university, searching further help with a phychologist, a nutritionist and so on I managed to get back up and still am on this selfcare journey. I just want to say that it is possible, truly. It is not easy. As example, I had depression for around 5 years and I am recently getting out of it. I had severe malnutrition, from which I am stuck with severe anemia since 2 years now (I dont have a family medic to help me on it) and so on. Things really do not get fixed on one day. It takes time, effort, research, a lot of change and consistance at once. It is rewarding at the end. Sorry for the long text xd.

I m healing!!! I literally realised that I have childhood trauma after multiple relationships failure due to fear of abandonment. Apart from that this fear numbed by both love and sex addictions. It took nearly 10 years for me to understand my childhood trauma almost completely because this trauma is literally “smarter” than us. Awareness is the fundamental key to overcome any addictions that prevent us from becoming better person. Mediation, reading good books, spending time alone are ways to understand my thoughts, feelings and “flashbacks”. It’s ok to make mistakes and this will get u closer to yr inner child. Remember if u have any addictions cure that 1st the rest will come easily. Trust me u are not alone.

I’ve spent years trying to put my inner child in a “pandora” box. But each time it finds ways to escape from it. I am learning not to do that anymore. And embrace my past trauma as a healing process. I learned that it’s not going to happen overnight so sometimes I have to let time do its own thing. My biggest trauma which is sometimes triggers me the most is the fact I was molested as teenager but knowing what I know now I have, had and will do better for myself. Each day brings me new challenges and opportunities. I just have realized that if I live in the moment and not scold myself in my head for the mistakes that may happens in a day then just maybe I can be closer to healing my inner child a bit more. ~Brittanie

About a year ago I had a really intense existential crisis and I had to make choice for life so I decided to read a book from my childhood and it helped me go through the catharsis I needed to embark on a spiritual journey that allowed me to gain insight on myself and improve in ways I never thought possible. I also got a lot of memories from back then and it felt like I was a kid again. Recently I started to read books again and I want to read not only some that I read back then but non-fiction as well like philosophy and spirituality.

I am more forgiving of myself. I am learning thar When I do a mistake i constantly need to think about what to do to fix it. As a child, a mistake as small as spilling a cup of water, would get me called “dumb” or “naive” from my parents, and it worked I stopped spilling water but not for the good reasons. I grew up thinking that I need to feel guilt and pain when I do a mistake, even if it was small, rather than learning why it is a mistake in first place, and that I still have plenty of cups of water to improve, I grew up trying not to commit mistakes so I don’t get called out, not because they are bad for me or people around me.

I'm a victim of emotional neglect as a child, and charged with too much responsibilities at five years old. After a severe depression that lasted almost three years, I went two months ago on a trip to Naples, Italy, alone, for the first time of my life. There were no responsibilities at all, no one to judge me. Naples is a huge and always in a hurry city where nobody has the time to judge you or even watching you. I have been able to act as I wanted to, I saw dolphins, made subdiving, and I could do whatever I wanted to, acting like a child, eating ice creams, drinking granitas, laughing loud, dancing in the streets, being amazed by small things, having behaviours I always forbid myself to have. My inner child got out, and I let her express herself. I was just happy to do so. Now I'm not afraid anymore to be childish whenever I want. I think my inner child begins to heal, I turned 30 years old three months ago and I'm living the best part of my life.

I know my inner child is healing because there's so many things from my childhood I don't want anymore.

I got stuck with one (Self-awareness). I know but I can't let it out without picking a fight with my mom...

I'd love to heal my inner child, but I have no idea where to begin 😭

A really good way to start is to talk to your younger self with compassion, and give them what they needed. There are also developmental needs that you might want to work on if you didn’t reach those.

My inner child is trying to forget and forgive most of all. Every single night I have dreams of trauma, but why if my heart and soul wants to forgive and forget oh why won’t it stop?? I really wish it would stop.

Can you make a video about how people with mental illness compare trauma because I have been comparing my trauma with others and it would be nice to have a video about it.

I may have one or two of these things going for me right now, but by no means the whole list: there's a lot more "healing" to do.
