worst part about dc's is how you can still get punished for someone else leaving by the game treating that game as a loss, even though you did absolutely nothing wrong
The thing about challenges I get most frustrated by is that it would be such a FUN party mode where every match was a randomized modifier. Make it so every week the modifiers available switch out so that it doesn't get stale and there is a reason to come back, and add new modifiers at the start of every month. Boom. A fun mode that draws players back while still technically being "timed" without as much of a drawback. For League just rename "Anarchy Open" to League and make it so you have the option to enter as a pair, full team, or solo and pair with other people who also entered the que with said options. Boom. UI isn't cluttered still and all functionality is maintained.
My favorite thing about the game is the customization. I love making cool outfits to use with the weapons I love to use. There is pretty much infinite different looks you can make and seeing what other people make is so cool! I don’t think there is any other game you can express yourself this much in. And the addition of splash tags is really cool as you can express yourself even more!
Most thing that i hate is the match making system like i series and i see someone at the other team with badge top 100000 x rank and i didn't even unlock x battle hows that fair
I love that you can do stuff while matchmaking, I love the movement options, I love salmon run being open 24/7 and the addition of King salmonids. I love splashtags, banner, badges etc. I do wish we could use more than 3 badges though. I also wish we had swap for cash in salmon run, sea snails for leveling, and lack of kits, I wish we had sheldon's picks or even kensa stuff. I miss league also and i feel like for me its a lot of smaller things that could easily be improved or changed which would result in the game being so much better than it already is, its just the small things
I think challenges were mishandled. Changing it so the more specials challenges become always active specials, all 1 sub/special challenges change a weapons kit and making it 2 every weekend would make them better. (and adding league back in, and removing the monthly challange that currently replaces it). The devs could be more creative, like all weapons, subs and specials looking like splattershot, splat bomb and trizooka or making it so that 2 stages just get glued together in the middle would be funny and challenging.
The matchmaking, (particularly in Open), ruins the game, IMO. It's ridiculous to be placed in a team, with only backliners; no paint; or with players who don't have a clue how to play, being pitted against a team, obviously on voice chat. The DC,s, even with Superfast Internet and ethernet, is also annoying (despite happening rarely). Although 3 has many great features, I'm still weighing up, whether the positives, outweigh the negatives lately.
I hate the Ranking System. I used to think Splatoon 2’s was hell, but the system of losing your rank at the end of the season puts you back into a rank where you could be in a team of players just getting up to that rank vs a team of X rank players that have dropped back to A or S rank! The pairing up teammates system can be Hell!
Man I love Splatoon 3 so much but I can’t help but notice how much potential this series has, yet the games aren’t doing any of that. Like, where’s a new game mode?
i just love the entire game for the most part xD i think for me one thing is just how much cleaner sloshers attacks look in S3 idk how to describe it but in 2 it felt very chaotic asthetically now it feels so clean and precision based i think matchmaking may be the thing i enjoy the least in splatoon rn like i feel theres no consistancy, like i get double dynamo tent and a jet squelcher v like eliter shot slosh dualies like logically swap out the dynamo over with some on their side probably best to swap there shortest range weapon to keep range values as similar as possible so like Tent Dualies Jet and Dynamo v Slosh dynamo shot and Liter its still arguably unfair but at least this time you feel like you can do somthing with that comp and the duplicate weapons have been split up im aware that such a system does exists to split teams up rn and is ment to sorta by splitting duplicates and sorta via range valubes but it just dosnt work? like i get to keep queue times small it has to been slightly inaccurate but the example i mentioned is one thats happend before and ive had 100's like it its just flat out incorrect and i feel bad for the enemy as well when they get like double sploosh v stamper roller and a slosher like that just isnt fair for them either
Personally, I dislike the existence of X battles way more than challenges. I get the feeling that challenges replaced League, but personally I think those two modes could've both existed together no problem. I think the real reason the developers didn't add League is because they were worried about splitting up the player pool even further, and X battles is the reason why. Like yeah, it's nice that we do have three map/mode options for ranked, but even without X battles two options is still a huge improvement over the last game. And once you do queue up for X battles, you often end up with really long queue times (sometimes longer than the match) due to the tiny player pool and strict requirements for finding an opponent. And now for top players, they have two ladders to climb instead of one. Before this update, X battles didn't even count towards the rank reset, so if you climbed to top 500 without touching series you'd still get dropped back to S rank. For me I just don't think it was worth splitting up S+ into two queues, and it would've made more sense to do that with League battles. Had we gotten League instead of X Battles, that would actually have a positive effect on the other queues. Now the competitive teams wouldn't have to fish around in open for opponents, making the experience better for solo players. And since it's still the same amount of modes as before, we can still have challenges be here as well (and probably still be a disappointment with fun modes only coming once in a blue moon lol).
Things I love? Music and the sound effects tbh. I love playing with headphones on and using the music to vibe and SFX to clue me in to my opponents moves or weapons. Things I hate, the scale droprate in Salmon Run. After all this time only have 4 home scales 😭
Never had splatoon 1, played some splatoon 2 but could not get into it due to lack of controller customization and bad matchmaking (and I was really into smash lol) splatoon 3 is the only one I've felt comfortable playing, it needs improvement in SO MANY ways, but there's no getting around the fact that it is an overall improvement from splatoon 2
I hate zooka and I like current day missiles cuz it doesn’t feel like you can support the team and stay back the whole game and not have to fight now it feels like you have to use them as a follow up tool and if you don’t you get little to no value
With your point about league battles being removed, they've instead used open and it's power system to get the same effect, but also allows three players. When you're playing with a full team in open, you get matched with other full teams, so you don't lose the functionality of league battles from the previous games!
One time I was playing by myself in open, and got matched against Gem's crew doing Silly Comp Sunday. You're definitely not guaranteed to be matched against another team.
There's a lot of improvements in 3 but it's gotten stale. We need totally new weapons and a new weapon system. I don't really want to play nearly the same game for the 4th time in a row. Give us the ability to carry more than 1 weapon so we aren't at total disadvantage in random match ups. Upgrade the graphic. Give us more modes. Put voice chat in standard with an option to turn it off if you don't like it. And bring back genders. I don't like dressing like some kinda indestinguishable girl boy thing. Take the politics out. I don't want to know what kinda boom boom the squids are having.
...Why would you want them to bring back male and female gender signifiers if you explicitly don't want to know the squids' genitalia? Like I know the actual reason, it's because "oh no 'woke' bad," but you realize how little sense that makes right?
