I have a couple of questions for you. When you start a new accounting job as someone who just graduated, are you given training for the job or are you expected to already know what to do from school work? Would you say that it’s okay to not know everything about accounting when you graduate and are looking for a job? My concern is that I had good grades but I don’t consider myself the most knowledgeable. Thanks!

Thank you for the video it was very helpful. My questions are as follows: 1) Do you need a bachelors degree for Audit accounting? (I’ve been to college before and have my bachelors but in a completely different subject so I’m just trying to get a sense on if I need to sit through this CPA audit exam + 4 more years of school) or would it be possible to get the training in an associates degree and still be considered for job opportunities in auditing / accounting? 2) How do you find a good accounting firm to work for? What Criteria should I look for here? Etc. 3) Is it more beneficial to do work more hours with public or with private companies? Thank you for your help I’m now subscribed to your channel
@BreakingTheCycle
@BreakingTheCycle 3 года назад
Hello: 1) difficult to say, i think they need a bachelors in science in accounting and at lest 150 credits (so they know you are going for your cpa). 2)when i was looking for jobs i looked at all the major accounting firms. Obviously big 4 and some other ones in too 20 3) public accounting experience looks really good on your resume!! Many private/industry jobs look for 3-4 years of public experience before hiring you Thank you so much for the support! Hope it goes well

Im a 17 year old senior at my high school. I really love math. I love counting and adding up all sorts of numbers and finding sums. I would always recheck constantly to make sure its correct too. I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life for college but now I feel like this is my calling. Any tips to help make my accounting journey easier?

Zizuas Lee wow, its great to see that you’re focused on your future. You’re already one step ahead! I would definitely suggest you do your best once you’re in college and as always keep your options open and take different classes to venture in different areas. With accounting you’ll definitely do a lot of finding sums, and ensuring accuracy in all your work. One big thing that will put you ahead if you pursue accounting is learning how to use excel at a proficient level. Excel is your friend! Take all factors into account when choosing your career! That honestly all depends on you. For example, i am an auditor for a public accounting firm, and i work A LOT. i cant stress the fact that working at a public accounting firm will be a lot of work that will take up a lot of your time. Regardless, if you like this type of lifestyle then go for it. The tax side in a public accounting firm is generally the same as audit (work wise, if not a little more). You can also go the private way and get your experience there, or vice versa (go to public accounting for a few years, get your CPA and then go to a private company). Also, consider subscribing to the channel if you can! thank you for the comment

What's the most difficult task in accounting?
@BreakingTheCycle
@BreakingTheCycle 3 года назад
Once you get more experience, you’ll notice equity can be a bit complex depending on the company’s transactions, debt can get difficult (at times depending on the contingencies if they have any). Derivatives, inventory can be extremely difficult, i have a job where only the manager works on it and is supervised by the partner. You’ll get used to it after a while.

Hi, I have a fin degree from SFSU 1 I want to find a stable industry to get into do you think its worth it to move into internal audit? or is there another department I should eye in accounting? I am taking classes to qualify for the CPA 2 which parts of accounting and auditing is hardest to automate?
@BreakingTheCycle
@BreakingTheCycle 4 года назад
Jonathan L hey, so im assuming youre taking classes now to get your masters in accounting right? Also, when you say internal audit i am going to assume you want to work for a private company (private company meaning a company other than a public accounting firm) and not public accounting. 1) audit, to me, is more interesting just due to all the research you have to do. Just keeps it more interesting for me. Since i work in public accounting we mainly have auditors and tax personnel. I am not a tax guy so i’ll just say stick with audit. 2) the most difficult area to automate would be the auditor’s judgement and professional skepticism. A computer will not be able to do that anytime soon (hopefully lol).

James M nice! Honestly, rutgers had a platform where you can apply for internships and part time/full time jobs. Not sure if maybe your school has a platform like this, but if it does you can just start applying to as many internships and interview with as many companies as possible. If it doesnt have this platform, i would suggest going to the company that you are interested in website and see if they have internships available in their career section. I know the big 4 usually have many internship opportunities available so you might want to check these out. I would suggest googling the top 20 firms in nyc or wherever you want to work and apply to those companies

I know Rutgers new brunswick is a huge school and with many people, unlike newark where there are less people unless you’re in their main campus where you will take most of your required courses like math and other courses. They’re both really good with all of their professors being PhDs and stuff. I learned a lot so i stand by newark 😁
