I mailed in my application February 16, it got approved and received my ITIN in the mail April 2nd... So it took 7 weeks for me incase anyone is wondering.

So I can do all the things you listed but can’t work? How do they expect me to have a bank account or even pay off my credit cards with no job ? I’m so confused tax preparation offices said I can work with an ITIN 🤷🏽‍♀️

@@keketorres281 Technically, an ITIN doesn't give you employment eligibility. Of course, a person can work or run a business, but their ITIN is only a tool to pay taxes. It doesn't change their legal status. You also won't be eligible for social security benefits when you get an ITIN.

Government want you to pay taxes if you live here doesn't matter if you are qualify to work or not.. So you should get your itin.. Its crazy but you have to know better this country work..

Yep, once you pay your taxes and don’t do laundry money, you can work and have employees, in the future if you are giving 10 citizen people work and you are working with 500k or more you can apply for a bussines visa so you can be here legally

Heeey... I was an illegal immigrant back in the 90's... worked with a MADE UP Social Security number (not a real one stolen from someone)... I had Retirement and Medicare deductions from my PayChecks... then, I was out of the country for 19 years... Now, I just got back to the US, legally, with a Real Social Security number... I'm 43 years old with no Retirement or Medicare contributions history on my New Real Social Security Number... Is there any way, I could show Social Security Office that I made this mistake back then, and use those contributions towards my New Social Security number? Since my Former Employer and I did pay those amounts?

If you used a made-up Social Security number in the past, those contributions may not be associated with your current legitimate Social Security number. Hi, thank you for your video. I have a question one of my family members have a company that has been operated with an ITIN / EIN since 2009. Now one of his main contractors are asking him to do a background check to keep the contract. We don’t think is a good way to go since that info goes to many agencies. They said that it only goes to FBI and local police agencies. We haven’t had any problems with any agency but is it really safe to do the fingerprints and background check? Thanks 😊

Hi Rafael! That's correct, ITIN cannot be used as work permit. What we mean about what we said that it can be used to prove residency is that some cases there are non-US residents who have ITIN, and for the company/institution to verify their identity, an ITIN record would help. The IRS validates W2's, 1099s etc with stolen SSN's as long as the ITIN holders name is on the income statement and that income statement was reported by the company to the national finance center and IRS. The ITIN holders do have to attach those income statements to their return, including the full stolen SSN, in order for IRS employees to manually verify them. The income and federal withholding are accredited to the ITIN holder, but Im not sure about things like retirement withholding as well as SSA and Medicare taxes

@@LaVerdad65Thank you! This was the most helpful comment I've seen anywhere. My friend is undocumented and uses a fake SSN to work, since it's required to get a job. It sounds like he can submit his W2 with the tax return and W7 application for ITIN and not worry about the SSN being fake since his name appears on his W2. Is that correct?

As a non-resident alien, I used SS-4 to get an EIN for my LLC. It took almost two months. I am getting an ITIN very soon as PayPal requires it. If you're a non-U.S. citizen and do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) then you absolutely need an ITIN. Hi ارح قلبك, in order to work as a phlebotomist in the United States, you will need to have proper work authorization. If you are currently on a B1/B2 visa, you are not authorized to work in the US. You would need to obtain an F1 student visa to study a phlebotomy program at an accredited institution. After completing your studies, you may be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT), which would allow you to work in the US for up to 12 months in your field of study. If you are offered a job in the US, your employer would need to sponsor you for an H1B visa, which is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. However, obtaining an H1B visa can be a complex process and there are annual limits on the number of visas that are available, so it's important to work with an experienced immigration attorney to navigate the process.

Hi, I have a social security number issued about 20 years ago. Used it on a trip and open an account at Wells Fargo back then. Account was later closed. Only returned back to the US a few times as a turist. Never used my SSN again. Is it still valid or should I use an ITIN? Thanks!!

Generally the SSN will only be valid for a specific period of time. It is probably best to obtain the EIN by using your ITIN if you have one. If you don't have an ITIN we can still help you get your EIN. An ITIN is not necessary.

Hello, I applied for credit card just after the itin i got but that itin was not updated in my checking account and my credit cad application got rejected so now i have filed 2 years tax return return and also i have updates my itin on bank accounts should i reapply for credit card or should i wait …. Hi Ravin Jain, once ITIN is issued, the IRS will process the tax return within 6-8 weeks. I suggest that you wait for a few more weeks or contact the credit company regarding the concern or ask what other requirements do you need to successfully get a credit card.
