BEST VIDEO ABOUT THE NETHERLANDS EVER! So helpful thank you! Im going to study in Utrecht this semester so I was really worried about these things you talked about!
You forgot to mention VOMAR Supermarkt. I think they are all over across the country. I always bought voedsel, heineken(mijn favoritie) and some items when I was in Netherlands last April-July this year. My sister lives in Den Helder and I will go back there next year. I hope to see you in person.;-) You are so mooi.😉😊☺
The Netherlands. Never been there, but had a connection with some of it's people. Many decades ago (yeah, I'm old) I was in the 101st Airborne Division. The 101st had been created during WWII, and deactivated at the end of the War. During the Cold War in 1956, the 101st was reactivated at Ft. Campbell which has been the Division's home ever since (Of course this doesn't count the overseas deployments during the various wars. In my case it was Vietnam, and I returned to the Division after it stood down and returned to Campbell in 1972. I was also with the Division at Campbell in the late 70's) Anyway, I digress. A group of folks from the Netherlands would come to Ft. Campbell. I think they called themselves The Friends of the 101st Airborne Division (?). Anyway, the name of the group when translated into English was almost comical. These people absolutely worshiped the Screaming Eagles! It had something to do with the 101st jumping into German-occupied Holland during the WWII Market Garden operation, and attempting to free the folks. The group had the 101st eagle patch sewed on everything they wore or owned, carried flags of the Division patch, and any soldier wearing the patch was absolutely revered! It was almost like a cult! No groupies of rock bands have any more fervor! And, the Division accommodated them; all personnel were careful to be on their best behavior when the group visited Ft. Campbell. This group was serious about it's love for the Division! And hell, none of us were old enough to have jumped or glided into Holland in 1944! But, that made no difference to them. I'm ignorant about the Netherlands, but I'll say one thing about its people --- unlike the French, they don't ever forget a favor done on their behalf. And friends are for life.
I live for 3 years in the Netherlands and my bike never get stolen :) because I used some bigass locks. My friends bike was stolen every fuckin months. wtf..
That's not the usual way to celebrate Sinterklaas though. It's meant to be a holiday for kids. Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet give presents to all the children, we pretend at least. Kinda like Santa. When you're older and don't "believe" anymore, you give each other presents or make surprises, like you said. Also, weed is legal and you can carry 5 grams. Just an honorable mention hahah.
Hey Anna, onnellinen uusi vuosi! (I know that is Finnish, but that language is similar to Estonian...) For the few who don't know some Finnish: Onnellinen uusi vuosi is happy New Year in English. Nice video, and your pronounciation of the Dutch words you spoke is great!
by far the most expensive is Marqt they only sell organic and free range Bio stuff. There are 20 plus shops mainly in de randstad (north and south Holland)
I would like to add, in my family and to almost everybody I know in the Netherlands, to us, 4th of May and 5th of May are the most important holidays. Dodenherdenking (Day we remember all the fallen, due to war or other violent conflicts) and Bevrijdingsdag (Liberation day, the day our country got liberated by the people we remembered the day before). Ah well, that may just be me, but it towers over the other holidays in terms of importance.
Thats just you. Your family probably has a history of veterans or has experienced big loses in the war. But 4 and 5 may are really not important holidays. Pretty much everyone wants to get ride of them, as it has been soooooo long ago already and 90% of the people has no connection with it. There is no use in doing it every year. Never heard anyone saying its the most important to them.
Nonsense to say it's long ago. On May 4th we think about all (soldiers and civilians) that have been fallen in WW II ánd in every warsituation since. That means also the ones in for example Afghanistan and (very actual nowadays) Mali. So this memorial has to go on as long as The Netherlands is engaged to any warscene in the world. And since we see (all around the world) people walking around with swastika's again, it's very important to stand still and memorize what the Nazi´s did in WW II.
What a lovely lady you are. Yes please start on the phrases. Maybe it is already done. I will search for it. I would love to go for a walk with you through Amsterdam, where I was born( tomorrow 89 years ago.) I am going to bake a king size apple taart. Kom je ook? Enjoy your life. Greetings from Down Under. Ria Plate
Albert Heijn is the best not the cheapest but what used to be the cheap ones like Aldi and Litle are now nearly that same price level, the most expensive is Marqt a supermarket for organic products is by far the most expensive as are pappa and mama shops that sell organic products (biologisch)
It was not really stealing before. You picked up a bike left it against a lamppost for the next person to use it. If you wanted to keep your bike you bought a cable lock. I don't know the custom now it was about 55 years ago.
dorus visee hey zou j m misschien kunnen zeggen hoe het is met de sociale omstandigheden op universiteiten in Nederland? is er discriminatie? vooral betreffende moslims en meisjs met hoofddoekjes.
All the tips are good but the first 2 are some serious advise i didnt know that. now i know how neatherland bicycle are greater in number by its population 😁😁🤔
No, Dutch comes from the word Dietsch wich meant the people. But as no one but dutch people could properly announce it it evolved to dutch a log time ago.
And remember, people in Amsterdam recycle, if their bike gets stolen, they steal their neighbours bike, etc...so if you are near a big city, get a very good lock and chain, because landmines are illegal here.
you also can get cheap bikes at kringloopwinkels.Saint Nicolas really existed he was at the council of Nicea. santa is mainly created by coca cola company!
Igor Andrade Dias My bike (which I use everyday because I ride it to school everyday, which is like 12 kilometers from my house) was probably 600 euros or something. I got it on sale, and it is secondhand , the original price was around a thousand but maybe I've simply got a very expensive bike.
Wel for 50 you will get a crappy bike too. Sorry but normal bikes ar between €150-400 (remember Igor we have euro's not dollars so 50 euro is more in dollars ;)
Sorry Anna I made a boo boo ... I meant Amsterdam; Your narrative is awesome but I was a bit distracted; the same question for your city ? dank je eddy
Do you accept , Compliments- since start of the video till 4:59 I kept on looking on you mouth . I would suggest you to be an actress in India . I would love to watch you in movies. Your face is really innocent and adorable .
You´re right. Depends on which homeless person. Those who are homeless because they´re junks or drunkards will try to steal. Others just try to live without causing too much troubles.
