Good tips again. I liked the tips, because not all them was just about photography itself, but still very important in the whole process. One question though, why only 32GB on Thursdays? A bit of a day off from photographing? 😀
@mattisulanto

Thanks, Peter. Statistically I shoot less on Thursdays, so a smaller card is good. Seriously though, those are all my cards and the 32 GB card just happened to land there😀

sulantoblog For stills, 32 gb should be hard to fill on one day...

I really enjoy these videos not only for the good information but also the presentation - straight forward without the hip cool guy pizazz portrayed in so many other presentations. Thanks!

There's alternative to carrying camera in the hand which is just as fast: Peak Design Slide Lite (Leash can be ok for smaller camera with prime lens) and carrying camera with lens hood and without lens cap. Maybe it's not suitable everywhere, but most of the time and it can be attached or detached from camera quite fast. It has one minor disadvantage: not having big red LUMIX label on it ... well actually need to buy the most overpriced piece of steel for tripod and anchor mount.

Hey Matti -- great tips! And if you published a collection of your "Yellow Car" photos, I'd buy it! The shots that you showed were not just pictures of yellow cars -- the compositions were great!

I couldn't agree with you more on the batteries and memory cards. I usually carry at least two batteries and several memory cards. I think the best photo backup is my iPhone. lol. Because my phone is always in my hand. Thank you for sharing these great tips.

Some very handy tips 👍 On USB Power adapters, like the one you showed us, I have used the RavPower ones and found them very good and quick to charge things. I would suggest people note to be careful with buying cheap usb cables, many of them charge at a substandard rate. And this can be annoying if you have lots of larger capacity batteries etc to charge for the next day on a trip etc. Have a good one. Kind regards BG / @Haznohair 🙂

The more cards you use, the more chances that one is going to failing. 😁 I only use a memory of 128 GB for each camera for all my vacations. At the end of the day I copy the photos to my notebook and to an external disk so I have three backs. One in the memory of the camera, another in my noteboock and the third in the external hard disk. I carry the cameras and the notebook with me in the cabin of the plane but the hard disk goes in my wife's handbag. Impossible to lose, damage or steal all three things at once

Will you be getting S1H? I know for photos it's just S1 with antialiasing filter, but for video it's another beast!

Weirdly although I know I have charged my spare batteries and often well in advance, when I go to use them they seem only half charged. I know it should not happen but does a fully charged battery loose power if left for too long, and really I am only talking about a couple of weeks?
@mattisulanto
@mattisulanto 4 года назад
Batteries will lose their charge over time, but a couple of weeks shouldn't do anything, if the batteries are in good shape. I'm not battery specialist and maybe someone will know more details about this.

I've often carried my computer when travelling but for the times when you don't want to carry a computer, there are external hard disks with an SD Card reader - you can take out the SD card from the camera and the hard disk will copy the photo files to the hard disk without needing a computer - like the Seagate Wireless Plus ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FUxXEELpiN0.html - this gives you one additional way to make a copy of your photos. Even when I am in my own city, I constantly run out of battery power - either I am too lazy to charge them before the session or they are no name batteries which lose energy by themselves. Mirrorless bodies use more energy than cameras with optical viewfinders and the small bodies invite manufaturers to use small slim, lower capacity batteries

Thanks for your input. That kind of hard drive with a card reader would be handy for backups and if you also keep the photos on the card, you'll have a pretty solid backup.
@hauke3644
@hauke3644 4 года назад
That is the best backup strategy in my opinion. Having many sd cards increases the risk of loosing one of them. Reminds me of a wedding many years ago, where I had lost one of the film rolls - that one with the shots of the wedding couple. Personally I use my iPad instead of a hard drive, because I have that along with me anyway. The Lightning card reader from Apple is cheap and small. If there are raw files with the same name on the card, they are saved together with the jpegs. Raws are invisible on the iPad itself, but using a Macintosh and the Image Capture app, you can get them.

Why can’t the LX100 be charge with the multiport usb Charger?
@mattisulanto
@mattisulanto 5 лет назад
I don't know. Maybe it's just that particular charger. Something to do with the charger output.
@hauke3644
@hauke3644 4 года назад
USB charging is much more complex than one would think in the first place. I use a 6-port charger from Altec Lansing to charge my Gx800 and an old Samsung EX1, that works fine.

7. To get good pics, you need full frame gear....just kidding.
