*⏯ FE Update Video!* 10 of my current annoyances/bugs EXPLAINED so you'll know what to expect as you work around them while we wait for Squarespace to work out these kinks. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Di3-r9UWmPc.html

You can't imagine how much you've help me! I was going crazzzzzyyy. I thought I was doing something wrong, I'm very beginner...I see now that they are having some issues with the new editor engine...I'm having problems with the mobile view, cause it does change some things in the desk view 🤯

Haha! I'm glad it helped Raquel. 😁 I wouldn't call them 'issues' as much as maybe purposefully avoided features. 😂 I talked about this AGAIN in last week's video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Di3-r9UWmPc.html because nothing has really changed, but I've found a way to deal with it while we wait for Squarespace to give us that third breakpoint between mobile and desktop. That video also explains what the mobile editor allows as separate changes from the desktop & what it doesn't. So hopefully that video will help you too!

This is so helpful, thank you! I've gone ahead and used your workaround, creating the pages/sections for future use and duplication. Im still confused about something - If we currently create a site using CE/FE disabled, and then transfer to a client, does it then automatically covert to FE? This is what Squarespace originally said would be the case, but now I cant seem to find a definitive answer ...

Hey Ilse! You're welcome; I'm glad it helped! 😄As far as I'm aware, no it won't be automatically converted back to FE. Squarespace has said it will be a manual conversion per section, per page & as far as I know, that's still the case. That said, are you a Circle Member, by chance? If so, go into the Settings → Circle Labs → and turn on the Fluid Engine Opt-out option while it's still there, if you don't want access to it at all. I've done that for some of my client's sites who don't want to use it. Any client's site is started on my Circle account and then ownership is transferred to them, and either because I'm still an admin on that/those sites or because they can tell which Circle Member started the site, -that option is there for all of those. If you're not a Circle Member yet (you only need to have done 3 sites in the same Sqsp account to apply), then I'm less sure about what happens after transferring ownership. Squarespace has said they will not force anyone to convert, and the proverbial "we" (Circle + Experts + Authorized Trainers) are holding them to that! 🤞🏻

Hey! This video was so helpful. When creating a fullwidth grid the code only works for desktop view. Is there a work around for mobile? Thank you!

Hey Jessica! I'm so glad that was helpful for ya! 😁 I don't have a reliable mobile-specific snippet yet. BUT do remember that you can drag blocks all the way to the right &/or left edges on desktop & mobile, so you should still be able to get that full-width effect very easily on mobile size screens since the gutter is generally more narrow than on Desktop. It may just be a manual fix -but you need to be checking your design on mobile anyway, so that'd be a good time to scoot things to the edges as well. 😉

With your solution to create a CE page with all CE sections, how do you forsee then being able to transfer that to client sites? Is it with the plugin that allows site-to-site transfer? Because I can save the template inside my demo site, but that wouldn't help future client projects?

Good question, Anna! I _don't_ think using my SquareWebsites plugin would work for moving the type of editor as well as the page content & layout, since the editor itself is structural; that'd be like exporting content from Asana to ClickUp but taking the Asana software with you. The SquareWebsites plugin just moves content between pages that already exist, so the CE sections would already need to be on the website for the content to copy over. At this time, I also don't think that plugin works on Fluid Engine quite yet? At least it didn't as of a few weeks ago, though I'm sure that will change. The workaround: I would put that template page, or series of template pages, inside one 7.1 website that you duplicate & start from with each client. For me, all I really need/want is access to a blank CE section since that's what I always start with anyway, but I'd need access to that from a "template" website that I duplicate in order to retain access to that CE editor. Hope that answers your question! 😃

Hi -- thank you for this! I have been so confused, but am getting there. So, on the same page with multiple sections, can some of the sections be CE and some be FE?
@launchthedamnthing
@launchthedamnthing 2 года назад
You're welcome, Kimberly! I'm so glad I could help ya clear up some things --it IS confusing, isn't it? And YES, you can have sections using either editor on any page that accepts FE. However, if you do, I'd advise you to save changes frequently as you go --and before adding the next section because it can *_potentially_* make getting into & out of Edit Mode very slow. I expect that issue to be resolved at some point if it hasn't already, but that was an issue for me a few weeks ago. 😉
