If you're struggling with a colicky baby and just can't find a way to soothe them, give these 6 gentle soothing techniques a try. Colic can be caused by quite a few different things, so the best way to relieve colic for your baby will depend on the cause of their colic symptoms.
Colic in itself is very difficult to alleviate, but for many parents there are things that work for them to soothe a colicky baby. Just remember, what works for one baby might not work for another, so trying different techniques is important.
Hopefully this video will help you calm your colicky baby and give your whole family some relief.

@karishmabeedaysee4413 I don't think you can overfeed via breastfeeding because your baby is in control of suckling, and also they take breaks in between. My baby also uses the nipple as a soother, prefers the nipple to pacifiers.

But should I offer the breast if the colic is caused by what I ate? I’ve had a chicken roast (with cauliflower, beans, etc) and didn’t realise it could affect my newborn. I’ve been considering to thaw some milk from a few days ago to avoid feeding him more of the milk that’s probably causing the issue in first place. 🤔

Another thing you can do is just feed them/burp them (so they don’t cry because of a tummy ache), then take them a lettuce bath, A lettuce bath help with new born babies skin pilling/baby acne/cradle cap because they’re getting used to the world. After giving them a bath, get them, all snuggled in the sleep right through the night probably wake up once because of the wet diaper or hungry. And it’s 100% safe, won’t hurt if you give it a try! (let me know if this came in handy, you need more information, and or got any questions)

My baby is still fussy and crying at certain times of the day without anything obvious. She's 7.5 months old, so I can't swaddle her. I'm not sure about nursing her like i used to constantly, as I'm enjoying less time nursing now that she's on solids. She does tons of tummy time and we try to do our best to follow a schedule, but she would sometimes miss her naps due to whatever discomfort that's bothering her. We've been rejected by public healthcare, and GPs were giving us Panadol for advice. We'll be seeing a private pediatrician only in a months time 😢 I don't know why it's so difficult to get a doctor! Sorry about this, just very difficult to deal with this for so long and getting no help from anybody!!! Plunket or GP totally useless

I tried every method I was told for my newborn niece and nothing work. But best tip I ever used for a colic newborn; I put her in her crib which is safe, closed door, put in earphones and let her scream herself to sleep after turning herself into a beetroot and kicking. I obviously still fed her, bathed, diaper changed etc, but apart from that, no soothing or holding, she screamed for weeks on end and now finally calming down. Newborns get adjusted if they know another human being is going to ruin their physical and mental health to hear a screeching baby who sounds like lawnmower. Don't care if this is harsh.
@PrincessGold1
@PrincessGold1 10 месяцев назад
You've taught her that no matter what help or comfort she needs while she's distressed you're not going to be there to do it for her. Your tip is not a tip for a colicky baby, - a tip for how to look after you when she won't be quiet, because you can't bear the crying. I've had a severely colicky baby and I know how hard it is to cope with the crying and distress. Hiwever when a baby is continually left on it's own to cry for a long time every day for weeks and is then silent, the baby silences because of emotional neglect. Extended crying is a cry for help, pain or soothing. It's how they communicate. This type of baby who'se cries are ignored over a long period of time give up trying to communicate their distress and suffer in silence. You didn't solve a colicky baby. You solved your need not to look after a colicky baby. Babies have emotional needs as well ad the physical needs you say are looked after. Please look after the emotional needs of this baby.
@Elizabeth-yv6bn
@Elizabeth-yv6bn 9 месяцев назад
@@PrincessGold1 I'm aware they cry for a reason, but she mostly cried because she wanted to be held 24/7. I took her to countless doctors incase she was unwell, but nope, nothing wrong, some babies want to be held 24/7 and some babies have no problem sleeping in crib. She even wanted to be held during her naps, she would fall asleep and as soon as I put her down, she would scream bloody murder, I even tried using a carrier, but nope, not good enough. I have zero help and I am all alone, I cannot sleep while holding her, I tried and a human being cannot survive on zero sleep. At one point I got so sleep deprived I fell asleep while driving and nearly ended up in a car accident with her in the car, after that, no more. There is absolutely no benefit in slowly killing myself because she wants to be held day and night. She stopped crying for a while and now she started again, but I close door, let herself cry herself to sleep after she screams for 4-6 hours and eventually calms down. Unless you can give me advice on how a human being can survive on ZERO sleep, then you cannot tell me to 'not' emotionally neglect a baby.

@Elizabeth_yv6bn This is terribly sad, i feel very sorry you both you and baby and hope things have gotten better for you. I have a extremely fussy baby as well ( 6 weeks old ) and she is a big crier especailly in the evenings and yes sometimes I need a break after holding her all day, with breastfeeding I basically became her human pacifier and it's exhausting. If she's having an episode I will walk around the house with her, sing songs, try playing her soft music, hold her in different positions, try doing bicycle pedals or burp her if she seems to have gas pains. different things work on different days. I will let her cry maybe 10 15 minutes but then I pick her back up. If she's crying to the point of screaming I know she needs something even if its just comfort and I want her to have that. But screaming for 4 to 6 hours is def not normal. Maybe try co sleeping, there are safe ways and it could mean both sleep and comfort for you and baby. I can understand how hard it is with no support but leaving the baby to scream for that long must also be exhausting and traumatizing for both her and yourself.
