I think these can be perfectly applied to more complex puppets. Especially the one about trying to push always in the same spot. When I'm animating a clothed character, I try to always apply pressure in the same spots to avoid clothes from boiling. Also, I try to manipulate them from the back, the part that is hidden to the camera. That usually helps a lot too. To animate the limbs, I find myself pushing the elbow to move the arm, and pushing the wrist to move the forearm. I rarely grab the arm from any other point, as that would deform the clothes.
@edupuertasfruns
@edupuertasfruns 4 года назад
What you say makes a lot of sense, I find super hard to find the better pushing points on each puppet.
@AbelCarbajal

@@edupuertasfruns Yes! Usually the bigger parts are the more difficult, like torso and hips. That's why I fell in love with a simple little tool at Laika that I use all the time; the "T-bar". It's a t-shaped square bar that goes in the torso or hips rig points, and allows you to precisely move those parts without touching the puppet at all. It also gives you more leverage. Then you just remove it and take the frame. Wonderful!

We used this same idea in Matilda to move it's head, but we didn't had a name for it, jaja! And yeah so handy.

Both of you are super professionals. Please make us a video specifically on how to move an armature/puppet during a complex movement. I am just a beginner who is going to make my puppet do yoga which is really complex. Help me out!

Just use a colored ruler that already has the markers placed, clamp/tape the ruler down, slide the block/figure every MM or CM along the edges of the ruler to keep it in line and each move even in space and then color key the ruler out with Davinci Resolve (FREE).

Gracias

Hi, please can someone help me. I was going to do a Lego brick film tomorrow and I was wondering how I would do it, for example what effects etc etc: however I quickly tested out my Lego starwars obi-wan kenobi out with my green screen and I noticed my blue light saber bit (the actual saber piece) what’s somehow working on the green screen, and I don’t want that to happen. So if anyone could be so kind and please tell me how to animate my Lego light saber (blue) piece with a green screen without it like being a kind of “green screen” if you know what I mean. That would be Mitch appreciated. Thanks 🙏 thank you

Hi Edu, I have a question about working with dragon frame: after I masked out all of the frames where there is some type of support for example to hold up a puppet in the air. I exchange the masked out frames with the frames where the support is still visible (I use GIMP). After I did that my stop motion is finished. When I then play the full masked out animation in dragon frame everything is fine, that means that every support that I masked out is gone, what's great, but then when I export the animation, and I look at the end result, the support is still there... So what I mean is that in Dragon frame I can see the animation without the support so with every frame masked out. Off dragon frame, so when I look at it as an exported video the support is still there... Can you please help me with this problem because I have been trying to fix this for months... I would be so great full if you could help me! Kind regards Wars4Bricks. PS: sorry for the broken English, I'm from Belgium.
@edupuertasfruns
@edupuertasfruns 4 года назад
Hi, dragonframe is not meant to do that. The masks you are doing are purely for reference purpose during animation. You have to do that in after effects
