I get the same shit from loads of people here in NZ when I'm only doing 40km a day about stopping to enjoy the scenery etc...I live here and I'm a Ranger, it's ok I've seen the scenery haha. I still stop for a minute to enjoy a sunrise and that as you say is key. If you're not enjoying the sunrise each day then you're not up early enough, and you've got 1 hour to wake up and prep, 10 hours at 5kmh to walk and eat and do whatever, 3 hours to wind down etc... and 10 hours to sleep. Sounds like a perfectly balanced lifestyle to me!! 😄
good stuff. Really quite simple. I wonder if like myself you see it as sort of a game to figure it all out. A puzzle to take the right gear at the right time and have the kit be light and really efficient. I enjoy every minute of it. Im not sure if you did a follow up to your SHR videos talking about how your setup worked. What would you have changed if anything....like that 30 degree bag. That was a pretty bold choice up there. I was up there with you at the time. I only had 1 day of noticeable smoke before I got over Muir pass (NB) and was clean for the rest of my trip. Most of the fires blew up just after I left. Awesome trip thanks for sharing. ps.....the glass peanut butter jar was golden...in an ultralight pack.
