Very well articulated... first time I'm fully in consonance with your team... really comprehensively put forward... Good journalism... I just need to add one more thing with your saying... And that is- any rapid disruption in agriculture won't work out... need to have at least 2 -5 years to make the disruption directed to anything better... income of farmers to become double is challenging in terms of changing the mindset of the farmers... it's pretty much psychological rather than anything else... primary sector of economy demands something primary to deal with... Thanks once again...
Gupta Ji is coming out all guns blazing on these farm laws. Only some institutional journalists are really ok with going against prevalent emotion. Braveheart. Keep up the good work Sir.
No wonder why people (on twitter) in their own bubbles are confused over SG..both Rw & Lw is furious with SG. I think, thats some serious stance! Super kudos!!💐
Mahesh, why grow wheat/rice when you can grow something in high demand as turmeric which is in high demand (subject to land/soil/seedbank etc)...hypothetical question but would really appreciate your inputs...
@Meme Central actually there is a person of iit Bombay origin they use aqua ponics and earn more than 70 lacs per years read this on a news paper called the better india and the land holding is also not that much
U maybe right, but rushing bills without debate undermines democratic values...notebandi, Gst, article 370, now these were abnormally rushed. Opposition may be the weakest in history but a healthy debate is always good. This arrogance will bring them down
@@Abidkhan-uw9vy I believe other than notebandi evrything else u mentioned were discussed well. We need a doer government. And whether the right thing or not this gov is doing their promises unlike the previous govts which only promised but did nothing other than farm loan waivers which they do as a ritual after evry win. But that said even I felt this farm bill was the only bill which was passed in a hurry. Maybe they thought why waste a crisis. Like u said this bill could have had little longer discussion. Whether had discussion or not, these laws seems to be the need of the hour reform to change the life of farmers.
Don't mislead , no where they mentioned they were going to throw away food holding laws and neither they mentioned that those parallels private mandis which they mentioned in manifesto would be not having tax like the current law says. which indirectly would make purchasers to procure from private mandis rather than apmc which would lead to apmc to sufer thus the MSP . This stategy is same like that of jio of bleeding competitors till they are force to shutdown or suffer huge loss or cut down different circle to stay float. Here the farmers feel like Apmc mandis will be under threat due to cash crunch like BSNL,and MTNL.
In spite of all the subsidies given to farmers they still can not compete with highly subsidised grains sold by the government at Rs 2 per Kg at ration shops. Even Reliance could not compete with subsidised petrol sold by PSU and had to shut down its petrol pumps. The government should give the farmers a level playing field by stopping selling grains under PDS. They can subsidies the poor in cash by direct transfers and let them buy grains in the open market like the rest of us.
Amartya sen wrote a article regarding abolition of PDS. Cash based transfers or food coupons are not the solution to deal with hunger crisis in india. What if a drunk man in a family uses cash transfer money for buying his alcohol. Then who will feed the family?? PDS is meant to deal with malnourishment problem. Unfortunately there is a hell lot of inclusion, exclusion errors, corruption, pilferage of grains, aadhar mess etc. We need to follow kerala model to revamp PDS.
Very arcane and deep level of discussion. Left us with wanting more decluttering. Need one CTC on each reality and each myth. Kudos to SG sir and the print team for this.
One of the best CTC that I have seen... Wish Our PM gives lateral entry to Shekhar Gupta in his cabinet.. If our political leaders watch this...they will have a lot to learn..right or left. Wahhh. Guptaji

@@louduchand1803 @ Listen to Dr. Ashok Gulati, Dr. Swaminathan. I am not going to back out since you are using a foul language. That is a reflection on you. That does not affect me a bit. The same Punjab & Haryana farmers have demanded these facilities as provided in the new agro-economic bills of 2020. Don't think that people forget because you have conveniently forgotten what you have been talking in the past. Farmers from all over India are welcoming the provisions of these bills. of course, still there may be need to improve. nothing is static and we need to be ready to change as the time demands us to do so. It is time for the farmers to introspect and be calm and prudent enough to separate the grains from the chaff.
Farming in a way is about producing raw materials , if there is no value add then farmers income can never increase. That’s why we need private players for the capital expenditure and modernise the system.

Reposting my tweet from Twitter: "Even when the GOI provides a subsidy to any group or individual, they should receive a paper statement indicating the amt. due and the fraction paid by the govt. Otherwise they are liable to think of subsidies as magic money".
I've read a number of Indian economists, and most of them agree that it would be better if the agricultural subsidies were transferred directly as cash rather than through leaky goodies which in turn result in stagflating the agriculture sector economy.

What a perfect explanation with ground reality and stats . Ground reality is wht most journalists dont study . They are heavily dependent on stats . Good to see both sides are analysed properly here . Love it sir .

Shekar Gupta's comments are a must read for all Indians and must be translated in all local languages and broadcast to the public every day. Wonderful analysis and logical. If the farmer's get to know the benefits of reform in the way it is presented to day they will demand these reforms and move away from their current position. Our farmers need respect and financial security. They should partner with the Govt and not fight it when reforms are proposed. Ignorance and distrust now dominate and every effort must be made to bring information to them. Unfortunately our opposition parties are so anti national they will not propose constructive criticism and work with the govt to improve the lots of the people instead they will provoke them to do hartal and sabotage moves that are meant to benefit the farmers. it is a shame that our media do not print the analysis of Shekar Gupta in all the newspapers and the AIR broadcast these every day to the public in the local languages of the people. The Govt also must listen to the analysis and modify how they approach reforms. The Govt controls All India Radio and the TV stations and can use them to inform the public the excellent analysis of Shekar Gupta and how the farmers can benefit. There are also well known agricultural experts who can inform the farmers to move in the right direction.
I will try to give simple cost estimation/acre... From Karnataka Seeds -1 kg - 1000-1500 Fertilizer - urea-350- 400 + other lik DAP 1400 2times removing weeds - 2000 2times ox plunge - 4000 Sowing seeds - 1500 Expecting no other major problems ...1 acre 10-12k ... At the end also he earn 10k -18k if corp yield is good.. every year there will drought or heavy rain during flowering.. hardly one family in village gets good yield and everyone lives in hope he also gets good yield next year...

But how are the new laws disruptive ?? They do not stop any existing system like APMC or MSP only add additional options so the farmers can see for themselves what works well and for the private infra for processing to get built up before shifting crops... IS that not exactly the right way to make gradual change ??
MH spent Rs 81206 cr on irrigation but area under increased 5.1%. Guj spent half, improved area by 67%. Is this the famous vidarbha irrigation corruption case? Done by NCP/Ajit Pawar?
Have always been critical to Gupta Ji but he is doing a really great job with Cut the clutter. The objective balance and facts based reporting is highly appreciable. Hope and wish it continues just like this.
22:40 Maharashtra fact. Most of that cost was from dam projects. NCP's Ajit Pawar was irrigation minister then. he purposefully selected useless locations to build dams where there was very less likelihood of water. (the curropt design of the scan at the level of Roshni Act) When a reporter asked: "why there is no water in the dams that you built?" He answered "what can I do? Should I go and pee in the dam so there is water?" He is now the transport minister in sena ncp congress govt. He canceled Hyperloop after work has already started saying that there is no evidence it works. hahaha (maybe a hint signal to the company to either donate to party fund for persmission or face losses) He is like one of those 90s Hindi movie villain politicians. NCP party has the best tactics in the world on how to channel govt projects assigned to pvt companies construction money to fund their party without getting caught. He purposely built excess dams so there are more balance sheets to play with and hide the money trail. Shiv sena is not behind too. A friend who worked for a Pune builder told me in 2004 that the NCP party fund donation rate was Rs 400 per square foot for permission in Pune Hinjewadi projects. That's how corruption increases cost of housing, coming straight out of common man's pockets. That's another topic though.
Hyperloop is actually stupid, also that statement came at the time of a drought, there is no place in MH that cannot fill a dam through a regular monsoon.

Closing summary was simply superb! Some one in govt should hear this, I am a strong bjp aupporter and completely agree with shekar gupta , no one can win a war agaist farmers of this country.. say thank you , incentivise and request services for nation And when called for service of nation . Any farmer would come forward with pride to deliver when they see merit in the request.. a perfect recepie formulated as a advice to govt. Kudos
Really well said, India should pay its debt to the farmers of Punjab and Haryana by incentivizing them and helping them to move to other crops. Farmers are not being misled, they are wise enough to understand the farm bills themselves.
MaNy leftist and anti modi people which used to be ur fan (akash banerjee) now started saying that you are sold and are balancing things.... I can see he is becoming more hungry of views that he started cursing everybody who supports modi reforms. ... He fits the definition of blind hater of modi
On almost all issues SG is humble in admitting the limits of his expertise outside journalism and defers to the opinions of experts, am I mistaken in seeing almost contempt towards experts like MS Swaminathan when it comes to the farmer's protest.
from what i understand from your myth no.2 and principles no.1 and 2 that punjab and haryana govt. is holding the whole country to ransom by not thinking of national good. they must negotiate with the central govt. secondly, in maharashtra the leakages are because of hugh corruption and we all know who is the agricultual king there !!!
So in a nutshell over the years, govt policies have benefitted Punjab and Haryana, and the rest of the country is ignored and now things will change so that's why the protest is centric in the Punjab and Haryana. Well, I want to see each farmer of the country being benefitted and hopefully, new laws can help in that.
@@pradyumnbhatt6187 will be much less than what is happening now, by giving free water, electricity, urea, and then paying MSP on over-produced grains.
Excellent one and admire your ability to give a factual perspective of this otherwise emotive issue vitiated by deeply and often hidden vested interests.
Real fact Like all other businesses/professionals farming should be left to swing with the market then you will have farmers building their own infrastructure.
But sometimes i was given an argument that why should we envy farmers for having universal basic income/MSP by state . Every indian should have right to live a decent life .
@Manjeet Singh Just open the doors you will know who has tied them to MSP once you release the lash on farm sector it will do miracles and farmers will never like to come back to MSP regime they will earn exponentially in future
@Manjeet Singh Bro I support farm laws but your point about MSP is valid too and it should be considered. But point of consideration is that if freedom of stock is not given, then what would happen in case of bumper production. It will lead to wastage of such large amount of agri products if the production exceed the demand and hence would hurt farmers inevitably. Moreover if freedom is retained ,then infrastucture will develop to accomodate more thus giving leverage to companies and farmers too(as their hard work will not get wasted) So these points should also be considered. Hope you understand😊😊
Shekhar this was needed. And seeing you not getting agitated or seething but delivering calmly will have a greater impact. Is anyone listening? The current Govt is in a rush for reforms and as Montek had mentioned this needs a buy in from states. So have we lost with Arun Jaitely the patience of rolling out deceptive googlies?

Some of the ranting is justified, government is pointlessly bringing Khalistan angle, pizza Party thing, etc..into it. Plus, laws were passed without discussion in Rajya Sabha. Above that, godi media is spreading rumours instead of justifying the farm laws.
@@varadhk3159 obviously, why would BJP "officially" say that? Don't they need to contest election in Punjab with Badal again (eventually they will fight the next election together)? I have developed a ritual of watching cut the clutter everyday. Such is the amount of concentrated information in these 25-30 mins episodes that i get more information than watching all other media whole day! Now on this topic... 1. Rome was not built in a day. India is already 50-60 yrs late in starting to build a robust agriculture sector. We have to start somewhere. There was some trace amount of agricultural reforms during the 90's overall economic reforms. But nothing apart from that. 2. If there was social media in the 90s like today, there would have been more protests. The way people are talking about Adani-Ambani, similar would have happened then. Or, to turn it around, why was there no outcry against Tata-Birla at that time....and why now? The risks were far higher then than now. 3. It would take time for the benefits of these reforms to show on ground. People are always resistant to change. But if change is done in the right way, it will bring good results. We have to be patient. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana are better off vs most other states because they got the benefits long ago (compound interest also plays a part). But those benefits are eroding fast. At some point inflation will catch up with current (low) income growth + compound interest from previous earnings. Thereon it will be downhill. It is high time things change and govt, people and country adapts to the current socio-economic scenario. 4. This Khalistani angle was propagated by media. But the release of so-called 'social reformers' was mentioned in the memorandum submitted by the farmer union representatives. It had to be highlighted. 5. What was explained in this episode...ye Diljit Dosanjh ko kaun samjhaye?🤐
Very well described! It really helped me to understand the situation at the ground level. Also very impressed with your suggestion to resolute this problem and the government has to be able to understand this and explain the farmers in the way as you have explained in your video. I hope this gets over soon and Indian farmers move forward in a positive direction.
